BBC Asian Network recently hosted a conversation with Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan.
On the 27th of January 2015, BollySpice was invited to join a mesmerised audience and witness a spectacular and touching conversation.
Presented by the charming Tommy Sandhu, Bloomsbury Theatre sprang to life as the inspirational icon stepped onto stage. As the crowds welcomed The Big B on stage, it was impossible to contain the excitement. Tommy struggled to get a word in edge ways.
There were roars of cheering, standing ovations and emotional cries.
Yes! Indeed, Mr Bachchan was now centre stage.
However, it was not just the audience who felt emotional. It was moving to clearly see the legendary super star touched by the loving admiration he received upon reception. Mr Bachchan stated that he was overwhelmed and thanked the audience for their continuous love and support throughout the years adding he was “deeply indebted”.

Sonakshi Sinha has been finalized to play the lead opposite Rajinikanth in K Ravikumar's next film. However the offer was accepted only after the yawning age difference between the two actors was justified. Says a source close to the family, "Shatruji and Rajinikanthji are contemporaries. When the two of them worked together in K C Bokadia's Asli Naqli Sonakshi was running around on the sets in frocks! Now to be offered a role opposite him is a bit like cradle-snatching." Informs the Sinhas' close associate, "She wanted to work with Rajini Sir, who doesn't? And Rajini Sir has worked with heroines who are almost as young as Sonakshi. Working with younger heroines is no big deal in the Mumbai film industry. Even Kareena Kapoor was just a kid running around on the sets when Akshay Kumar worked with Kareena's sister Karisma. Later Akshay and Kareena were fine as a screen pair.

The faded, vintage glamour of the Delite Cinema provided the ideal location to host the press conference of new release B.A. Pass. We caught up with the stars and director of the film at the cinema, little more than a stone’s throw from Delhi’s Paharganj, where much of Ajay Bahl’s debut was shot.
Despite getting its theatrical release on August 2, the project has already achieved critical acclaim at film festivals from Delhi to London and Montreal to Paris. Lead actor Shadab Kamal was also the recipient of a ‘Best Actor’ award at the Osian Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema.
“Honestly speaking, I was not expecting it. I didn’t even know Osian had an award for ‘Best Actor’.”said Kamal. “I was with my friends hanging out and enjoying myself when I got the call that I had won.”

If you are looking to enter into a world of danger then look no further; BA Pass will provide you with just that. Based on Mohan Sikka’s short story The Railway Aunty, BA Pass is no typical Indian film. It goes against all that is considered to be traditional Indian customs and values, though the film does have its minor flaws which some audience members may notice. Nevertheless, it is probably one of the boldest and most unorthodox films you will see coming out of India. Starring Shadab Kamal and Shilpa Shukla in the leading roles, BA Pass is based on a young male student who is seduced by a married woman and subsequently engages in an affair with her. However, despite these thrills, Mukesh (Kamal) is ultimately taken into a world of prostitution by his lover Sarika (Shukla). It is whilst being at the centre of prostitution that...

The Bradford International Film Festival is typically an underground-friendly fest. This year appears to be no exception with two very special experimental film retrospectives, as well as a few modern underground-type flicks.
The 19th annual Biff will roll on April 11-21 at several locations around Bradford and Leeds in England, including the National Media Museum, Hebden Bridge Picture House, Hyde Park Picture House and other venues.
Biff is hosting a tribute to Stan Brakhage this year by screening the prolific filmmaker’s magnum opus, Dog Star Man, as well as a selection of his short films, from 1963′s legendary Mothlight to 1994′s Black Ice. There’s also going to be an epic-sized tribute/retrospective of experimental films from Austria, a country with a proud avant-garde filmmaking tradition that’s typically overlooked.

A feeling of foreboding and damnation builds up in the narration from the first frame itself. Here's a gloriously gutsy film exploring the underbelly of Mumbai through the lives of two slumkids who grow up in identical circumstances but with somewhat disparate values.
First-time director Faruk Kabir displays remarkable skill in creating a pastiche of mammoth crime and little punishment. The pace leaves meager space for grace. And yet Allah Ke Banday creates a world filled with acute aggression repression and damnation with a reasonable amount of paciness to the edgy narrative.
The world that Faruk Kabir's characters inhabit is reminiscent of Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire, Irrfan Kamal's underrated Thanks, Maa, Mahesh Manjrekar's City Of Gold and Chandan Arora's Striker. Deriving its lingering study of juvenile delinquency from these sources Allah Ke Banday moves forward and acquires a life of its own.
