Helena Bonham Carter and Pierce Brosnan are set to star in a romantic comedy called “Not Bloody Likely” that tracks the true story of a 1914 production of George Bernard Shaw’s “Pygmalion,” the story that would eventually become the musical “My Fair Lady.”
“Last Chance Harvey” director Joel Hopkins will direct the film that is being presented to buyers at the American Film Market. Production hopes to begin on the film in the U.K. in spring 2021.
Brosnan will star as Shaw, who is determined to get actress Pat Campbell (Bonham Carter) to play the role of Eliza Doolittle in his now-classic play. But his real intention is to woo her and rekindle their past love. The whole story is seen through the eyes of a young producing assistant who is tasked with finding a “real” Flower Girl who might help Campbell become Eliza, only to spark his own romance.

According to the Los Angeles Times, a two-day summit meeting in Hollywood was held by prolific women in the film industry and the Sundance Institute. The hot topic that was being discussed is the gender gap between male and females actors salaries that have been addressed in the past couple of months.
William Morris Endeavor (Wme) agent Adriana Alberghetti was present at the summit where it was revealed that the high-profile agent and partner arranged meetings for four female directors and three female screenwriters with Disney and Lucasfilm with the intent to collaborate on future films in the ‘Star Wars’ franchise.
None of the directors or screenwriters were named, but Alberghetti manages talent such as “Suffragette” director Sarah Gavron, S.J. Clarkson, who recently helmed the Marvel/Netflix “Jessica Jones” series, “Maleficent” screenwriter Linda Woolverton and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” writer Marti Noxon.

"There’s nothing we’d like more than to find a female director for Star Wars," Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy told the Guardian earlier this year — a curious statement, since the company has had five chances to pick a director for a new Star Wars movie (remember, Josh Trank left Rogue One) and has come up with dudes each time. But now, the L.A. Times reports, the company may be moving beyond lip service: In the wake of the secret Hollywood meeting to address gender bias, Wme super-agent Adriana Alberghetti tells the paper she set up meetings for four female directors and three female writers for jobs on the infinite parade of future Star Wars films. There's no word on who these women were, but Indiewire notes that Alberghetti represents directors Sarah Gavron (Suffragette) and S.J. Clarkson (Jessica Jones, Oitnb), and writers like Linda Woolverton (The Lion King) and...

Could the "Star Wars" universe finally be getting a woman behind-the-scenes.
With seven films down and two more on the way, one big surprise about the "Star Wars" films have been the lack of any women as writers or directors beyond an uncredited screenplay polish on "The Phantom Menace" by Carrie Fisher, and a very early (and discarded) "The Empire Strikes Back" draft by Leigh Brackett.
Today, The Los Angeles Times reports that Wme agent Adriana Alberghetti has reportedly managed to procure meetings for four female directors and three female writers for upcoming "Star Wars" film titles.
None of the seven women are named in the article, though Alberghetti represents the likes of "Buffy" writer Marti Noxon, "Jessica Jones" director S.J. Clarkson and "Suffragette" helmer Sarah Gavron.
Whomever is involved would join Gareth Edwards, Rian Johnson, Colin Trevorrow and the team of Phil Lord & Chris Miller at the helm of...

Lucasfilm head honcho Kathleen Kennedy recently promised that she'd hire a female director for a Star Wars movie, and now it looks like the wheels are in motion for that to actually happen.
In a report from The La Times (via ComingSoon) about a recent summit held by Women in Film and the Sundance Institute to discuss the issue of gender inequality in Hollywood, Wme partner and agent Adriana Alberghetti said that as a result of the two-day summit, she secured meetings with four female directors and three female writers for upcoming Star Wars movies. That's great news for not only the industry itself, but for the audience watching these films, too. It's important to have different perspectives out there, and it's especially important when those perspectives are involved with what's likely to become the biggest film franchise in the world.
There's no word yet on who those candidates are,...

At least seven female filmmakers have met with executives at Lucasfilm about working on future “Star Wars” movies, an individual familiar with the discussions told TheWrap. But a woman directing the high-profile franchise can only happen in a galaxy far, far away since Disney has male directors lined up for its first five “Star Wars” movies, slated through 2019. Nonetheless, Wme partner Adriana Alberghetti set up meetings this fall for four female directors and three screenwriters with Lucasfilm executives, the insider said, inspired by a top-secret confab of leading industry figures in October to discuss gender disparity issues in Hollywood.
