Bashir Gavriel
- Actor
- Writer
Proud of his Jamaican-American roots, actor and writer Bashir Gavriel always knew his calling. Understanding the financial instability of entertainment, he delayed moving to Los Angeles to attend nursing school. After becoming a cardio/thoracic Registered Nurse, he moved to Hollywood, building a strong acting resume with over 30 credits across nine networks. An alumnus of Second City, he discovered writing through sketch comedy.
In 2016, Bashir sold his pilot script PAROLED to UCP and USA Network, joining the WGA. In 2019-2020, he worked on STARZ's RAISING KANAN, co-writing and producing the second episode. In mid-2020, he joined the writing staff for THE GIRL FROM PLAINVILLE, which earned a Critics Choice nomination. Run by Liz Hannah (Mindhunter) and Patrick McManus (Dr. Death), the show premiered on Hulu, starring Elle Fanning. In 2021-22, Bashir served as a Story Editor on CBS's GOOD SAM, writing and producing two episodes. In mid-2022, he worked as Executive Story Editor on Peacock's hit series DR. DEATH.
In 2023, Bashir was a Co-Producer on an untitled spin-off for Amazon, and in 2024, he became a Producer for Hulu's Murdaugh Murders, created by Michael D. Fuller and Erin Lee Carr, with Patricia Arquette as Executive Producer. Bashir's diverse background as an actor, nurse, and writer has shaped his storytelling, bringing unique depth to his work. And if someone passes out in the writer's room, rest assured Bashir can deliver CPR while shouting, "Don't you quit on me!"
