“The Hills: New Beginnings” will not be returning for a third season on MTV, Variety has confirmed.
The reality TV reboot starred several key players from the original hit series, including Spencer and Heidi Pratt, Brody Jenner, Audrina Patridge, Justin Bobby Brescia, Whitney Port, Frankie Delgado and Jason Wahler. Newcomers included Ashley Wahler, Jennifer Delgado and Kaitlynn Carter, along with pizza entrepreneur Caroline D’Amore and Brandon Thomas Lee, the son of Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson. Original cast member Kristin Cavallari also made an appearance in Season 2.
However, a source close to production tells Variety that the franchise is being reimagined and the IP will live on with new iterations to come. Previous seasons of “The Hills” are currently available to stream on Paramount Plus.

The rest will never be written.
According to Deadline, MTV has officially canceled The Hills: New Beginnings after two low-rated seasons.
The news should come as no surprise when you consider that the show has never been a big ratings performer for the young-skewing cabler.
A reboot of the popular reality series The Hills (2006-10), New Beginnings featured a mix of old and new cast members, but it had one big issue throughout its run:
It was boring.
Reality TV is typically filled with drama, but the drama was watered down.
Had MTV went in a drastically new direction by bringing no one from the original back, the show might have had legs to sustain storylines.
The series was in jeopardy after its first season.
MTV gave it a vote of confidence in the form of a speedy second-season pickup, but filming was delayed several times due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Audrina Patridge, Whitney Port, Stephanie Pratt, Jason Wahler, Frankie Delgado and Brody Jenner all returned for the freshman season, joined — for some reason — by The O.C. alum Mischa Barton. Ever since The Hills: New Beginnings debuted on MTV, there's been one question on the mind of fans:
Will anyone still watch the show?
It looks like fans old and new decided to embrace the show because MTV has agreed to renew the reboot for a second season.

The current cast of the series includes familiar faces Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Audrina Patridge, Whitney Port, Stephanie Pratt, Jason Wahler, Brody Jenner, Justin Bobby Brescia, and Frankie Delgado, along with newcomers Mischa Barton and Brandon Thomas Lee.

Nearly 10 years after “The Hills” signed off the air, the reality phenomenon is back with “New Beginnings.” This revival brings cameras back to follow the lives of many original cast members, some of whom are married, have kids or have been divorced.
The original series, which was a spinoff of the high school hit “Laguna Beach,” followed Lauren Conrad as she graduated and moved to the hills of Los Angeles to pursue a career in fashion. Later on, Kristin Cavallari headlined the series, which turned no-name teenagers into pop culture sensations whose faces were constantly plastered across tabloid magazines with rumors of plastic surgery and sex tapes while the drama unfolded on television.
Nowadays, things are different. Conrad has gone on to become a Martha Stewart of the millennial generation and a New York Times best-selling author with nine books and lucrative clothing lines, while Cavallari turned into a businesswoman with a growing empire,...

We all hated saying goodbye to The Hills when the MTV reality series ended in 2010. Even if the whole thing was fake (still crying), we long for the nights at Les Deux and those epic mascara tears. Laguna Beach alums Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari are obviously killing it, but you’d be surprised to know which cast members are giving them a run for their money in 2015.
Are you really surprised that leading ladies Audrina, Whitney, and Lo all deem themselves as “lifestyle experts”? Probably not. But did you know that party boy Frankie Delgado is now a proud papa and Heidi’s loser ex-boyfriend is now a CEO?
Take a look at the gallery and prepare to be amazed at what just five years can do.
One thing we know about Kristin? She’s so over reality TV.

Brody Jenner has somehow risen to the top ranks of reality TV royalty.
His ascendence is puzzling. Like Paris Hilton and stepsister Kim Kardashian, he's not particularly talented or known for anything. But the son of Linda Thompson and Bruce Jenner scored his first reality show, "Princes of Malibu," at age 21. Even though only two episodes aired, Brody kept climbing the reality star short list. He soon became a Los Angeles nightlife fixture and one of the few "famous for being famous" men.
After his stint on "The Hills," producing and starring in a competition-based reality show called "Bromance" and an official casting on Season 8 of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians," we regret to inform you that Brody Jenner is ... gulp ... culturally relevant.
