NEW YORK -- Nonfiction production company Atlas Media Corp. has formed a Digital and Emerging Media Group, it said Wednesday. The new division already has distribution deals with YouTube, Comcast and Discovery in place.
Atlas content will be debuting on a YouTube channel dubbed "Stounder" on Monday. Oct. 15. This channel will offer "Things You Have to See to Believe," which will focus on bizarre rituals and festivals, and "Dr. Strange Sex", a sex advice show.
For Comcast, the group will produce "Route 666: America's Scariest Home Haunts," with a new show premiering every day this month on the cable company's FEARnet destination. The program will be hosted by actress Danielle Harris.
Atlas is also producing two other unnamed series, one for Discovery's mobile platform and another for music-focused Web site Fuse.
Also on Wednesday, Atlas said it appointed Maria Lane to executive vp new digital group, where she will oversee all nontraditional media for the company. Lane most recently was executive vp programming at Atlas, where she produced company Web programs of Disney's "Family Fun" publication and the History Channel's Web site.
