- In 1962, Sid Fields, Joanna's father, produced 'The Truth About Communism,' a seventy-five minute documentary narrated by Ronald Reagan.
- In the mid-1980's, Joanna traveled multiple times to Leningrad, Russia, where she used cassette tapes to secretly record rock music by prohibited underground Russian bands. She smuggled her tapes and photographs out of Russia with some help from diplomatic officials. Then she produced an L.P. Record with the music of Akvarium, Kino, Alisa, and Strannye Igry.
