Erin O'Connor's Model Sanctuary To Reopen
Erin O'Connor's Model Sanctuary is to reopen after the British Fashion Council (Bfc) stepped in to save the support centre for vulnerable aspiring catwalk stars.
The British beauty opened the London headquarters in 2007 to give young models a place to receive "discrete health guidance and educational support" from nutritionists, psychologists and fitness experts.
O'Connor was forced to close its doors in February over leasing issues, but now bosses at the Bfc have taken over the not-for-profit organisation.
Bfc chief executive Caroline Rush says, "The British Fashion Council has had a role in supporting the initiative over the past five years and Erin's vision and dedication has been an incredible driving force, ensuring the continued success of the Model Sanctuary... We will strive to ensure that this initiative continues to thrive and provide an essential space for models to rest and relax."
O'Connor has pledged to continue to back the sanctuary, telling Vogue.co.uk, "After years of beg, borrowing and stealing, opening a vein, arm-twisting and blagging in general, I'm delighted to not have the responsibility of arranging the venue this time.
"I will continue to support every project that aims to protect the young and more vulnerable members of our industry and I will always be happy to help where I can."...

Harrods and the British Fashion Council announced Amelia Chester and Jessica Madden as the winners of the store's annual graduate designer competition.
The two win a year's paid internship at the store, working alongside Harrods' buying team on design, development and retail experience.
The judging panel, which included Harrods' Marigay McKee and Bfc CEO Caroline Rush, chose both winners after failing to make a decision on one.
"I am thrilled that through this new initiative in partnership with the Bfc, Harrods will offer graduates the opportunity to experience the fashion business first hand," McKee told Vogue. "Both of the finalist's presentations perfectly captured the Harrods customer, showing different strengths. We loved Amelia's beautiful womenswear illustrations of classics with a twist, whilst we were impressed with Jessica's commercial childrenswear designs. Choosing one winner proved impossible, so we decided to offer them both an internship. We look forward to having them on board.

However, the then 25-year-old quietly stepped away from the spotlight to focus on starting a family.
“I was being offered these huge films that would have taken my career to a different level, and I decided to put on the brakes. I knew if I continued on that track, I probably wouldn’t have gotten married,” O’Donnell reveals in Redbook‘s June issue.
