Tori Meehan makes ‘Survivor’ history by winning first 2 individual immunity challenges of the season
Over the course of the first 21 years and 41 seasons of “Survivor,” only one woman had won the first two individual immunity challenges of her season: Laura Morett in 2009’s “Survivor: Samoa.” Now, her long-standing record has been tied by Tori Meehan, who just claimed back-to-back victories in the first two individual immunity challenges of “Survivor 42.” Talk about girl power!
One caveat in mentioning this record is that Laura’s initial immunity win was actually awarded to the best performing male (John Fincher) and female (Laura) of that specific challenge. Tori didn’t have to share either of her two immunity necklaces, which puts her truly in a league of her own when it comes to making “Survivor” history.

Beach rental business owner Jonathan Young has big dreams for his “Survivor” experience. As one of the 18 new castaways playing on “Survivor 42,” the 29-year-old Alabama resident intends to “win more immunity challenges than anyone ever has,” outdoing the likes of Colby Donaldson, Tom Westman, Terry Deitz, Ozzy Lusth, Mike Holloway and Brad Culpepper, who each won five in a single season.
It is unlikely that Jonathan will indeed amass six Immunity wins, but he is confident in his physical abilities, hoping this will make him a valued tribemate. “I’ve basically trained for this moment,” he says, noting that he spearfishes “almost daily” (watch below). As one of the most visibly buff contestants of the bunch, he knows that his tribemates may judge him in a certain light. “The first impression everybody’s getting is going, ‘Look at this big guy. I wonder what he can do,'” predicts Jonathan.

In a game of strategy and social bonds, challenge strength remains an important component in “Survivor” 20 years later. Opinion is split on how much value there is in Immunity Challenge wins, but more often than not, they have helped players beast their way to the end and even with the $1 million prize. Examples include Tom Westman (“Palau”), Rob Mariano (“Redemption Island”), Kim Spradlin (“One World”) and Mike Holloway (“Worlds Apart”).
Other challenge beasts are able to win a bunch of challenges but just come up short in the end. Colby Donaldson is one of the original cases of this, and we have seen players like Ozzy Lusth, Terry Deitz, Spencer Bledsoe and Brad Culpepper do the same, without claiming the title of Sole Survivor. Then there are players like Joe Anglim, who are just so good at challenges that they must be voted out the minute they lose an Immunity Challenge.

The 8-year-old who survived a house fire and suffered burns over 75 percent of her body now has a new hand and foot, which she lost in the fire. On June 28, Safyre's aunt, Liz Dolder, posted a social media photo of the survivor holding a rock inscribed with the word 'Faith' and sporting a prosthetic arm and leg decorated with pandas, hearts and yin and yang symbols. "Good evening everyone. On Friday Safyre got her new hand and foot. It was the best day ever she said she is on cloud nine. Loving the glow she has. Hope Faith & Love To All,...

Tonight’s host is Russell Crowe, an Oscar-winning actor known for his performances in movies such as Gladiator, L.A. Confidential, and pretty much nothing comedic ever-- until next month’s The Nice Guys comes out. This is his first time hosting; let’s see how it went! Cold Open: Hillary Clinton delivers a message encouraging New Yorkers to get out and vote for her in their upcoming primary election. It felt refreshing to see Kate McKinnon’s face up there at the start of the night rather than anything involving the Republican race, which even in comedy sketch form is mostly just depressing these days; you can only laugh at a person’s spray tan so many times before remembering he could usher our nation into its Young Adult Dystopian Novel era. Plus, the show hasn’t quite figured out what angle to take with the Republican side of...

Survivor: Second Chance season finale recap “Lie, Cheat and Steal,” Season 31, Episode 14 (original airdate Dec. 16): It was the most unpredictable finale in Survivor history, one where you’d be Ok with a couple of the finalists walking away with the million (as long as it wasn’t Abi). So when Eastin decided to play the game again, she knew she would be targeted early as a threat. After all, if she'll vote for her mom, she'll do just about anything.
But something funny happened on this season – everybody was a threat in some way. As a result, Eastin made it for 26 days despite being on the wrong side of the numbers after the merge.

"Survivor" Season 31 (yes, can you believe it?) is now airing, and "Survivor: Second Chance" is one of the best competitions CBS has ever aired. Maybe it's the returning players, all "losers" hungry for a win, or the many twists that have only improved the gameplay and have yet to feel like desperate gimmicks. It's rare to have so many players pushing to win, with very different strategies, and we can't wait to see who ends up the sole survivor of "Survivor: Cambodia."
Who will it be?
Well, the edits certainly give us some hints. For example, we could've told you it wouldn't be Kelly Wiglesworth even before she was eliminated in Episode 9, since she had almost no screen time, including confessionals. Spencer Bledsoe is still the confessional king. The producers have him narrating the season, like this is his story and everyone else is a supporting player. Then again,...

Terry Deitz waited a decade to return to Survivor. In 2005's Survivor Panama, he finished the season in third place, but he always believed that he could do better.
"I always felt like I had what it takes to win the game," he told People before competing on Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance, "and I've been waiting for ten years to go back."
But his dream came to an abrupt end the night of day 13 when host Jeff Probst came to the camp and told Deitz that his son was ill and that he needed to return home immediately.
It was very serious.

This is the worst way to leave "Survivor." To promote tonight's October 28 "Bunking With the Devil" episode of "Survivor: Cambodia," aka Season 31, "Survivor: Second Chance," CBS teased, "One castaway is pulled from the game due to a family emergency; the players drop their buffs for a second time and switch tribes; players chow down on local delicacies to win immunity."
The promo showed Jeff Probst visiting one tribe at night, which is never a good thing. We heard Kass McQuillen say having someone go home like this is worse than anything you can imagine in "Survivor." And when Chaos Kass gets emotional you know things are serious.

Tonight's episode, kicked off with the usual conversation footage. Kelley Wentworth expressed how happy she was to snag up the immunity idol during the last immunity challenge. Meanwhile, Jeff revealed that he wanted to go ahead and get either Shirin or Spencer out early because they're gaming hard right now. Spencer told the private cams that Abi was basically awful and hated that he had to work with her. Andrew told the private cams that he definitely didn't like the fact that Stephen Fishbach was already searching for an immunity idol. Abi started a fight with Peih-Gee at one point after Abi overheard her talking about her behind her back. Terry moved in to offer Abi some protection in the game, and she was definitely open to it since all the girls turned on her. Next, they showed immunity/rewards challenge footage. It was an obstacle course and puzzle challenge.

Rather than selecting returning players unilaterally and listening to fans complain about the latest return for Rupert or a confusing return for a castaway even superfans don't remember, "Survivor" has left the decision somewhat up to America to determine the 20 castaways for Season 31. On Wednesday (May 6) at the end of the latest episode of the less-than-lackluster "Survivor: Worlds Apart," CBS formally announced what had long been rumored across the Interwebs. There's been a lot of debate as to why certain people made the cast of Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains. Of course, the other side of that is why certain people did not make the final cut. Why isn't Panama's Shane Powers on the Villains tribe? Or Thailand champ Brian Heidik? How can you have Heroes without Ozzy, Yul, Terry Deitz, and Mike Skupin?
