Ezra grew up in the mountains in rural Oregon. He was picked up by Judy
Savage of the Savage Agency when he was 14, and subsequently cast in
the regular company at the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum in the summer
of 2000. He moved to New York to pursue further training in the Acting
Conservatory at SUNY Purchase, where he became interested in physical
theatre in addition to more traditional acting. Upon graduating he
apprenticed under Felix Ivanov, and taught with him at Juilliard before
being offered a position as the Head of Movement at The University of
Montana in Missoula. He created his own company, and toured productions
through the US and Europe, earning praise as "a virtuoso physical
actor" (Martin Denton, nytheatre), "a lithe gymnast in ripped jeans"
(Skylar Browning, The Independent), and "one of those people who it
might genuinely be pretty entertaining to watch reading a phonebook"
(Kristen Innes, The List, Scotland). He was a member of Kinding Sindaw,
a dance theatre company in residence at La MaMa ETC, and has trained
and taught with Pilobolus Dance Theatre. In the fall of 2011 Ezra moved
to Los Angeles to accept a position as the Head of Movement in the
Department of Theatre Arts at California State University, Long Beach.
