Donald Trump once again bragged that he allegedly “aced” a cognitive test administered while he was president, challenged President Joe Biden to take that same test, and then promptly forgot the name of the White House physician who tested him.
The former president has often boasted about his cognitive abilities — including correctly identifying a whale — while also making frequent flubs, including confusing Nancy Pelosi for Nikki Haley. He has also recently said he is running against Barack Obama and misidentified his location as Sioux Falls, South Dakota, when he was actually in Sioux City,...

Jimmy Kimmel has weighed in on Donald Trump‘s recent meeting with the House Republicans at Capitol Hill, noting how it was the former president’s first visit to the Hill since the January 6 insurrection attempt. “They always return to the scene of the crime,” the late-night host quipped during the opening monologue of Thursday’s (June 13) Jimmy Kimmel Live. Kimmel then went on to discuss the reported discussions that took place at this meeting, which some Republicans who were in the room described as “a gripe-filled airing of legal and personal grievances.” “Yeah, that sounds right. That sounds right,” Kimmel said before adding that one of the things Trump was allegedly upset about was Taylor Swift supporting Joe Biden in the upcoming election. “He said, ‘Why would she endorse this dope?’ And they were like, ‘I don’t know, why did we endorse this dope?'” Kimmel continued. Donald Trump paid a visit to Capitol Hill on Thursday in what was supposed to be a day of policy discussions and planning for a second Trump term. Instead, the former president reportedly spent a significant amount of time complaining about women.
Trump reportedly spent time complaining that superstar singer Taylor Swift had not endorsed him over President Joe Biden. “Why would she endorse this dope,” Trump wondered, per CNN. “He doesn’t know how to get off a stage.”
Swift has not endorsed Biden, although she has been critical of Trump in the past.

Donald Trump’s closed-door meeting with Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill today reportedly veered off into all sorts of topics, including that of Taylor Swift.
The superstar singer has not endorsed in the 2024 presidential race, but she did endorse Joe Biden last cycle.
According to CNN, at the meeting at the Capitol Hill Club, Trump told lawmakers, “Why would she endorse this dope. He doesn’t even know how to get off the stage.” Other media outlets also confirmed that Trump made comments about Swift.
Swift’s fame has only increased since 2020, and the prospect that she would endorse this year has been the source of ongoing interest on the right. Before the Super Bowl, conspiracy theories spread that the game would be fixed to favor the Kansas City Chiefs and so that Swift and her boyfriend, the team’s Travis Kelce, could then use the attention to announce their backing of Biden.

Rapper 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, shared a photo of himself with Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado) at the Capitol on X. He captioned it, “Lauren Boebert, Colorado Republican making the white house look good.” This post quickly drew attention, with some users mocking the rapper’s apparent confusion about the location.
Scripps News congressional correspondent Nathaniel Reed likened the gaffe to “summer tourists who think the U.S. Capitol is the White House.” Associated Press congressional reporter Farnoush Amiri joked that it was like her mom “not knowing where I work.”
50 Cent’s visit to the Capitol was a complex trip. The rapper was there to advocate for more black representation in the liquor and music industries, meeting with lawmakers from both sides of the aisle, including House Speaker Mike Johnson and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The Wall Street Journal has come under extensive criticism from the White House for a report on Joe Biden’s mental acuity, with spokespersons blasting the story for featuring just one on-the-record Republican source, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, to claim that the president is slipping.
On Wednesday morning, Morning Joe added to the chorus, with Joe Scarborough calling it a “Trump hit piece.”
In the piece, McCarthy said, “I used to meet with him when he was vice president. I’d go to his house. He’s not the same person.”
In the piece, McCarthy described speaking to Biden during debt ceiling negotiations in May of last year. McCarthy said that the president was sharp on the phone one day, but the next day, in an in-person meeting, the president “was going back to all the old stuff that had been done for a long time.”

Nikki Haley, the former Republican presidential candidate, was mocked online by fellow Republicans for declaring that she would vote for Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
Haley made this announcement and explained why she chose to back Trump during a Q&a session at the Hudson Institute, a conservative think tank in Washington.
“As a voter, I put my priorities on a president who’s going to have the backs of our allies and hold our enemies to account, who would secure the border, no more excuses,” she stated.
“A president who would support capitalism and freedom, a president who understands we need less debt, not more debt,” she added.
“Trump has not been perfect on these policies,” the former Republican presidential candidate admitted. “I’ve made that clear many, many times. But [Joe Biden] has been a catastrophe. So, I will be voting for Trump. Having said that, I...

During his Monday return to the anchor chair, The Daily Show host Jon Stewart brought up the topic of the so-called cancel culture that is allegedly plaguing the political right. He concluded that while mostly these pundits claim the woke left are coming to get them, the true cancel culture of today only occurs when a Republican speaks ill of former president Donald Trump.
Following some light jabs and gags around Trump’s current criminal trial in New York — one which had Stewart comparing the former president to the cartoon character Mr. Magoo (‘He’s just stumbling around, quid pro quo and metal beams falling all around, gets out completely unscathed”), the host brought up the hot topic of Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker. Dr. Bruce A. Aronwald, Donald Trump‘s physician, has raised eyebrows with his unusual reports about the former president’s health. Aronwald is a member of Trump’s golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
On November 20, 2023, Trump posted a letter from Aronwald to his social media platform, Truth Social, reporting that, after his medical examination on September 13, 2023, he is in “excellent” mental and physical health.
The physician, who has been treating the former president since 2021, wrote that his “physical exams were well within the normal range, and his cognitive exams were exceptional.”
He also mentioned that the recent lab results had been “even more favorable than prior testing on some of the most significant parameters.” The letter, however, did not cite any evidence supporting his claims, including measures of blood pressure or cholesterol levels, and did not contain any test results.

The man convicted of attacking Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi, was sentenced to 20 years in prison today, per the AP.
David DePape was found guilty last year on federal charges of kidnapping and assault.
U.S. District Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley issued separate 20-year and 30-year sentences for each count, with the sentences running concurrently. During a break in at their San Francisco residence in October, 2022, DePape attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer. Nancy Pelosi, who was then House speaker, was in Washington, D.C. at the time. Prosecutors said that he planned to capture the House speaker, and he told police that if she lied when confronting her, he would have broken her kneecaps. Paul Pelosi called 911 when he broke into their residence, and when police arrived, they witnesses DePape striking him with a hammer.
DePape also faces a series of state charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and residential burglary.

GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Accuses House Speaker Mike Johnson Of Being ‘Owned By The Democrats’
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) has accused House Speaker Mike Johnson of being “owned by the Democrats” in a new interview.
Greene’s allegations come as a response to Johnson’s perceived unwillingness to “defund Jack Smith,” the special counsel who has brought two indictments against former President Donald Trump.
“Mike Johnson is owned by the Democrats, and that proved to me to be right again,” Greene stated in an interview on Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo. She went on to claim that it was not Republicans who saved Johnson from her “motion to vacate” his position, but instead Democrats, such as former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) and former House Judiciary Committee Chair Jerry Nadler (D-New York).
“When you have Nancy Pelosi, who was Speaker of the House when they impeached President Trump twice, and you have Jerry Nadler, who was chairman of the Judiciary Committee that led the impeachment against President Trump,...

Forty years ago, you might be hard-pressed to find anyone in the country who regularly watched the political affairs network called C-span, let alone anyone who actually knew what it was.
Today, the brand is as synonymous as Xerox (copy machines) or Scotch tape (adhesive tape) — it’s a stand-in for any kind of live television coverage related to the hearings, votes and political affairs of Congress and other government agencies, to include the White House.
If it’s political in nature, it’s probably on C-span. But not everything aired on C-Span originates with the networks.
Take, for instance, hearings from the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. Colloquially, political aficionados and even journalists refer to the coverage as originating from “C-span cameras,” even though they don’t.

Former President Barack Obama slammed Donald Trump for a lack of “seriousness.”
Obama joined Joe Biden and Bill Clinton during an episode of the Smartless podcast to criticize Trump’s behavior.

Obama joined Joe Biden and Bill Clinton during an episode of the Smartless podcast to criticize Trump’s behavior.
Actor Jason Bateman, one of the podcast’s hosts, asked Obama if he was surprised “how quickly that protection and passion for democracy was diluted” and “how primed the country was to just sort of dissolve and – and get lazy with it and let it go.”

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-North Carolina) lashed out at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia), stating that she is “bringing down brand of the Republican Party” and is placing the Republican Senate majority at risk.
“I think she’s uninformed,” Tillis stated in a clip played on CNN news anchor Erin Burnett.
“She is a total waste of time,” he added. “She is a horrible leader. She is dragging our brand down. She – not the Democrats – are the biggest risks to us getting back to a majority.”
The North Carolina senator’s comments came after Greene criticized the GOP’s move to pass a $95 billion foreign aid bill.
This bill, passed by the Senate on April 23 and signed by President Joe Biden the next day, includes aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan and provisions that might lead to a national ban on TikTok.

Harry Dunn stands in the living room of a waterfront home in Annapolis, Maryland, in a black campaign T-shirt and a silver chain. His forehead glistens with sweat as he paces the bright space, all eyes in the room on him.
The image people have seared into their minds of Dunn is him in a crisp, dark Capitol Police uniform, gold badge over his heart, giving an emotional testimony in front of the Jan. 6 congressional committee. He recalled the blood that covered his fist after he fought rioters hoping to keep Donald Trump in office,...

The season of the very first sign of the zodiac is here, and that’s exactly why being a leader comes so easy for Aries folks.
And that’s no joke, Aries really don’t know what else to be but a boss, CEO or innovator, because they’d rather play by their own rules. They march to the beat of their own drum and rarely ever need anyone to play backup instrumentals. Their charm, playful personality and great sense of humor make up for their impulsiveness and sometimes hot-temper, and there’s absolutely no other sign who will keep it all the way real with you like an Aries does, even if it’s something you don’t want to hear. They tell it like it is, as dishonesty goes against their entire m.o.

Last week, former President Barack Obama recently paid a visit to President Joe Biden at the White House, where they discussed the upcoming election, voicing concern about Biden’s campaign. Obama’s return to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue served primarily as a working visit, as he joined Biden and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on a call to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (Aca).
In the call, Obama expressed his belief that Biden’s State of the Union remarks had been effective and resonated with the public. He also highlighted the significance of health care as a politically influential issue in the upcoming election. The campaign has recorded additional content that features both presidents, which will be released in the coming weeks.
Obama voiced his concern again that the Biden campaign needs to take the threat of Donald Trump returning to the White House very seriously.

Joe Lieberman, the former Connecticut senator and Al Gore’s Democratic vice presidential nominee in 2000, has died. He was 82.
His family said in a statement that he died due to complications from a fall.
“Senator Lieberman’s love of God, his family and America endured throughout his life of service in the public interest,” his family said. His wife, Hadassah, and other family members were at his side when he died, according to the statement.
At the time of his death, Lieberman was leading an effort to recruit a candidate for the group No Labels, which has been seeking a “unity” ticket to run independently of the Democratic and Republican parties.
Lieberman held to the view that, even in a time of hyper polarization, there was a common ground to be found in politics. His own career reflected that, and even those who criticized his positions found him friendly, kind and polite.

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is enacting a revenge plot against the eight House Republicans who ousted him.
In October 2023, McCarthy was booted from his position as House speaker when a group of Republicans joined all Democrats in voting to vacate the chair.
McCarthy is out for revenge against the group that he has dubbed the “Crazy Eight” or “Gaetz Eight” and its leader, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida), who introduced the motion to have the speaker vacated.
The former House speaker left Congress two months later. This ended up shrinking his party’s majority in the chamber.
McCarthy’s ally, Brian Walsh, is working to round up primary challengers to the “Gaetz Eight.”
The ousted speaker is prepared to mobilize his still-sizable donor network to arrange primary challenges. He is focusing on three representatives specifically. His allies believe that Reps. Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina), Bob Good (R-Virginia) and Eli Crane...

It was a scatter-shot Real Time from Bill Maher on Friday night. During the course of his conversations, the blame game fell on just about everyone, from politicians to tech titans to those staging St. Patrick’s Day parades.
The night started with tech reporter Kara Swisher, host of the podcast On with Kara Swisher, co-host of the podcast Pivot, and author of the memoir Burn Book: A Tech Love Story.
Swisher’s dogged reporting has tech titans cringing, she claimed. “I think they’re scared a little bit,” and judging from her less-than-favorable comments on the likes of Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, they may have good reason.
She characterized that a lot of moguls are “hugely narcissistic,” and said the yes-men that surround them pump them to the point that, “You start t think of yourself as a god.”
Swisher was not willing to balance their good works with that attitude.

Updated: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga) filed a motion Friday that could lead to a vote to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson, less than a half year into his tenure.
Greene’s action came just as the House passed a $1.2 trillion package to fund the government through September and forestall a shutdown. The bill only would have passed with Democratic votes, with a majority of Republicans against it.
“Ok, deep breath America, here we go again,” CNN anchor Dana Bash told viewers after Manu Raju and other reporters interviewed Greene on the steps of the Capitol afterward.
No vote on Greene’s motion to vacate is scheduled, as she did not seek a “privileged” resolution that would have triggered a two-legislative day timeframe for a floor vote. That is what happened in October, when Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-fl) led a successful effort to oust Kevin McCarthy as speaker. What...

Former President Donald Trump was criticized by his own former vice president, Mike Pence, for saluting prisoners who participated in the January 6 Capitol riot and calling them “hostages” during the introduction of his Dayton, Ohio campaign rally.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please rise for the horribly and unfairly treated January 6th hostages,” the moderator of the rally on March 16 stated over the loudspeaker.
Trump raised his right hand and saluted as the “January 6 Choir” sang the “Star Spangled Banner.” The choir is composed of Proud Boys, Oath Keepers and others imprisoned for helping to advance the failed insurrection.
The rally started with the Pledge of Allegiance recited by January 6 defendants serving time in the Washington, D.C., jail.
“You see the spirit from the hostages, and that’s what they are: hostages,” Trump claimed at the rally. “They’ve been treated terribly and very unfairly. And you know that and everybody knows that.

Nancy Pelosi made a widely derided TikTok pun last week, and John Oliver delighted in joining in chorus of those mocking the former House speaker on HBO’s Last Week Tonight.
Sunday’s episode of the late-night show aired a few days after the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill that would lead to a ban of TikTok if its China-based owner doesn’t sell its stake. The bill passed on concerns that the app poses a national security threat under the ownership of Chinese technology firm ByteDance Ltd. Lawmakers say the company has ties to the Chinese government, which they fear could demand the company share information that puts the U.S. at risk. (The bill next goes to the Senate.)

At a glance, Shirley Chisholm’s 1972 campaign for president was the definition of quixotic. She was 47 years old; at the time, she had served only one term (starting in 1968) as the first Black woman to be elected to Congress. (Her district centered on the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn.) To say that Chisholm wasn’t a seasoned Washington, D.C., player would be putting it mildly. And she looked like an outsider. She wore puffy wigs, schoolmarm glasses, and tasteful print dresses. There was a slightly prim stoicism about her, though she lit up whenever she flashed her smile with the gap tooth on the right side. She looked like who she was — a day-care supervisor from Bed-Stuy, and a devout Christian.
But her persona didn’t end there. This church lady was a fighter, of Guyanese and Bajan descent, and she spoke with a pristine propriety that carried a hint...

The premise of "Air Force One" — President James Marshall (Harrison Ford) foils terrorists who hijack his plane, John McClane-style — requires national unity. The film calls for you to root for the president and only works if the majority of the audience (i.e. the U.S. population) sees their president as an unimpeachable good guy (pun intended). That is simply not the reality of America of 2024. "Air Force One" screenwriter Andrew Marlowe spoke to Syfy recently about why, to use the cliché, the film couldn't be made today.
"When we were doing it, the presidency and that position was not as politically charged as it is today. And so, I think that there are specific challenges about doing it in the contemporary climate that we would have to figure out."
Marlowe adds he'd only be interested in a follow-up if it reflected the world as is now: "Are we saying something new?...

(Updated with more results & Super Tuesday details) The Congressman from Hollywood is one big step closer to becoming the Golden State’s junior Senator, but saw up-close this Super Tuesday some of the visceral challenges Democrats face from their own base.
