- When in races,Budd made a point of taking the lead early on;she did this primarily out of fear that the other runners would accidentally step on her toes.Budd was quoted as saying:"When running a race in bare feet,its always best to be way out in the front or way behind in the back!".
- After running,Budd would frequently go window shopping or to tea/coffee shops to unwind.She would usually remain barefoot and people would notice her bare feet ,laugh and snicker at her.
