"I'm gonna fight for her, Mitch. I'm not going anywhere..." Gravitas Ventures has unveiled the trailer for a spunky indie dramedy titled Braking for Whales, which marks the directorial debut of filmmaker Sean McEwen. The film is headed to VOD coming up this spring, for those interested in watching this one. Tom Felton and Tammin Sursok star in this as Brandon and Star, estranged brother and sister. The two are brought together after their mother's recent death and end up on a road trip trying to fulfill her absurd final request to dispose of her ashes in the body of a whale. The full cast includes Wendi McLendon-Covey, David Koechner, Austin Swift, and Carrie Clifford. Looks like a solid road trip comedy meets siblings emotional bonding story. Higher quantity never guarantees better quality, but thanks to “Peak TV,” there are more good options on television to choose from than ever before. The Slammin’ Salmon is a straight DVD release directed by Kevin Heffernan and stars Michael Clarke Duncan alongside comedy troupe, Broken Lizard which includes Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske. April Bowlby, Cobie Smulders, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Carrie Clifford complete the cast in this comedy which is released 17th May.
The movie focuses around a restaurant named Slammin’ Salmon which is owned by former boxer, The Champ (Clarke-Duncan) who needs to make $20 000 in one night to pay of a bet which he lost. He lays down the challenge to his table waiting team with a great prize for the person who brings in the highest total but whoever brings in the lowest will face a ‘broken rib sandwich’.
Spurred on by greed and panic, the staff resort to backstabbing, bribery and indecent proposals in an attempt to upsell their patrons while simultaneously sabotaging their co-workers.
