Topeka’s Moon Crush series of events aren’t your typical music festivals — they’re music vacations. Taking place in Miramar Beach, Florida, these unique gatherings are equal parts getaway and VIP music experience. Today, Moon Crush is announcing the latest addition to its lineup: Cowboy Moon, curated by Lyle Lovett.
Set for November 1st-3rd, 2024, the three-day music vacation at the beach features two sets from Lovett and His Large Band. Also on the bill are Jason Isbell, Little Feat, Hayes Carll, Nikki Lane, The Mavericks, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, and Paul Thorn.
Now, that’s a lineup that’d get any country fan’s’ spurs spinning, but Cowboy Moon doesn’t stop there. Guests will have their own private, reserved “coves” at the venue, out VIP-ing any VIP section you’ve ever seen. What’s more, there’s no waiting in line for refreshments, as each cove gets on-demand deliver of food,...

Before nominations closed, live music fans across the country submitted 1,300 local venues to our Hometowns of Consequence initiative. After tallying the votes, we narrowed it down to just four per region, and now we’re shining the spotlight on those selected finalists. Now that we’ve covered the Southeast, Northeast, and West, it’s time to give the floor to our Midwest finalists: Ohio’s Beachland Ballroom and Tavern, Minnesota’s First Avenue/7th St. Entry, Missouri’s Knuckleheads, and Illinois’ Metro.
Each venue answered our curated Q&a, sharing memories of favorite shows and stories from their respective communities. In addition to highlighting the venues themselves, we also want to give props to the people who make these spaces more than just a building, those working at all levels to keep live music alive.
Voting for our Hometowns of Consequence winners will continue through October 21st, with the winners...

John Prine is reviving his All the Best Fest for a second year, in late 2020. The four-day musical event, which the Grammy Lifetime Achievement recipient launched in 2019, will again partner with Sixthman when it sets up at the Breathless and Now Onyx resorts in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, from November 16th to 20th.
Joining Prine, who will give multiple performances during the festival — including one classic album start to finish, will be Bonnie Raitt (who sang a brief tribute to Prine at the 2020 Grammys), John Hiatt, Steve Earle, Iris Dement,...

At last September’s International Bluegrass Music Association Awards, also known as the “Hillbilly Grammys,” the smart money was on Jerry Douglas’ Earls of Leicester to win the Entertainer of the Year grand prize. Formed to pay tribute to bluegrass forefathers Flatt & Scruggs, the Earls were reigning champions for the past three straight years. In a surprising upset, however, Entertainer honors instead went to Balsam Range, a workmanlike North Carolina quintet that has quietly built up a reputation over the past decade as one of the top acts in bluegrass.

John Prine’s The Tree of Forgiveness Tour has brought him to sold-out venues like Radio City Music Hall and San Francisco’s Warfield. But the biggest celebration is likely going to be Prine’s own All the Best festival, happening place November 11th through the 15th, 2019, in Punta Cana.
Prine will perform four times, including collaborative performances with a lineup of fellow Americana giants: Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Iris Dement (who famously recorded “In Spite of Ourselves” with Prine), I’m With Her,...
