The CW is developing an adaptation of M. K. England’s The Disasters with Supergirl writer Derek Simon.
The project is in the works from Berlanti Productions, 5 More Minutes Productions and Warner Bros TV.
The book, which was published in 2019, is described as The Breakfast Club meets Guardians of the Galaxy, is set in a near-future where humans have colonized space to save Earth from climate crisis. It follows a group of washouts from Earth’s prestigious military academy who are framed for treason and forced to go on the run to the Colonies to clear their names.
Simon, who has written on The CW’s Supergirl as well as USA Network’s FBI drama Graceland, will write and exec produce with Lee Toland Krieger, who has directed episodes of Riverdale and You and is helming the pilot of Superman & Lois, directing and exec producing.

Thanks to the pandemic shutting down production, three out of four of the Arrowverse’s shows are wrapping up their seasons a few episodes earlier than intended over the next week or so. This Sunday, both Batwoman and Supergirl reach their respective conclusions and for the Girl of Steel, it’s episode 5×19, titled “Immortal Kombat.” Though not originally designed to be the final chapter of the season, it looks set to be a big, fan-pleasing episode, nonetheless.
All season, former best friends Kara Danvers and Lena Luthor have been mortal enemies over Lena feeling betrayed that Kara never told her she was really Supergirl. However, last episode, Lena showed up on Kara’s doorstep and apologized for the way things have gone, as she’s realized that her evil brother Lex has been manipulating her. The stage is set, then, for the pair to unite to defeat him and Leviathan.

Supergirl becomes the third Arrowverse series to reach its 100th episode this weekend. And as is typical when a show hits this milestone, it’ll celebrate with a special outing that’ll both get nostalgic for what’s already happened and look ahead to what’s to come. Titled “It’s a Super Life,” this It’s a Wonderful Life takeoff will see Mister Mxyzptlk return and offer the Girl of Steel the chance to see how her life could’ve been had she made different choices. And, according to guest star Jeremy Jordan, the episode will really act as the end of a chapter for Supergirl.
Jordan has returned to the show as Winn Schott for the past three episodes and he spoke to EW about how much of a pleasure it was to shoot the 100th. He promised that “It’s a Super Life” is something of a...

Supergirl becomes the third Arrowverse series to reach its 100th episode next week, with – as is TV tradition – the milestone instalment of season 5 being marked with a very special storyline that’ll cast a nostalgic eye on the Girl of Steel’s journey so far. Specifically, three former stars of the show will be making a comeback for the hour.
Titled “It’s a Super Life,” you probably don’t need me to tell you that the episode will be a take-off on It’s a Wonderful Life, with Mr. Mxyzptlk returning to National City – with a new face, as Thomas Lennon is replacing season 2’s Peter Gadiot – to give Kara an offer she can’t refuse. And that offer is to go back in time and see if she can fix the mistakes of her past, including telling Lena Luthor her secret before Lex did and ruined their friendship.

Following Arrow and The Flash, Supergirl becomes the third Arrowverse series to hit 100 episodes next weekend, with the very special “It’s a Super Life.” As the title makes clear, the milestone installment of season 5 will draw inspiration from It’s a Wonderful Life, with a regenerated Mister Mxyzptlk allowing Kara the chance to view how her life could’ve gone if she had made different choices.
In other words, this is a way for the show to take a nostalgic look back at the Girl of Steel’s journey over the past five years, as well as getting a few old faces back for the occasion. The Arrowverse returns from its winter break tonight with the thrilling final two parts of “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” But though we’ll see Melissa Benoist’s Girl of Steel in these last installments of the crossover, Supergirl season 5 won’t resume until this Sunday. But when it does, we can expect a big shake-up to the show’s status quo.
True, we don’t know exactly what that’ll be just yet, but we can get a taste of it from these photos for the midseason premiere, titled “The Bottle Episode.” For one, the images tease that Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) will stick around after “Crisis” to continue causing problems in National City. What’s more, it looks like Jesse Rath’s Brainy will be going through some changes. Several of the pics seem to showcase him cycling through various personalities. After such a lengthy summer hiatus, it’s exciting to think that most series making up the Arrowverse will return for their new seasons in just a matter of weeks. As it turns out, Supergirl will actually be among the first to debut. That said, let’s not waste any more time before talking about what’s to come.
With kickoff time being so close, the network has been quite generous with dropping promo materials online in recent weeks. In addition to new photos taken from the premiere and a cool poster, there was also that brief trailer released over the weekend. And if you’re in need of catching up, the season 4 Blu-ray set is now available in stores as well.

If you checked out last fall’s “Elseworlds” crossover, then you may agree with me in saying it was probably the Arrowverse’s best prime time mashup to date. Of course, it’s entirely possible for the event to be outdone by “Crisis on Infinite Earths” later this year, but let’s not take anything away from this ambitious story arc in the meantime.
By now, I imagine that a percentage of those reading this article have already begun reliving the most recent seasons of DC TV on Netflix, while others may be viewing it for the first time. After all, a sizable chunk of the fanbase waits around until they can binge-watch seasons in full.
As such, we’re about to let you know how to properly experience “Elseworlds.”

Hey, "Supergirl" fans. We hope you guys enjoyed tonight's episode 19. Now that it's officially over and in the can so to speak, it's time to see what the next, new episode 20 will have in store for you guys. The folks over at The CW were so kind enough to serve up a press release for episode 20. So, that is what we'll be referencing for this spoiler session. To get things started, CW's press release revealed that episode 20 is labeled/titled, "Will The Real Miss Tessmacher Please Stand Up?" That title is actually a parody of rapper Eminem's popular song, "Will The Real Slim Shady Please Stand Up" from back in 2000. That's just a fun fact I thought I'd throw out there. Anyways, episode 20 sounds like it will feature some very interesting, action-filled and dramatic scenes as Kara and Lena try to hunt down Lex. Eve sets a trap!

Though Supergirl tells the story of Kara Zor-El first and foremost, it’s pretty much impossible to avoid certain hallmarks of the DC Universe due to her being the cousin of Superman. As such, Tyler Hoechlin has already shown up as Big Blue on several occasions, not to mention other vital characters such as James Olsen and Cat Grant putting in appearances as well.
So, naturally, one would think Lex Luthor wouldn’t be far behind, but aside from seeing him as a child during a flashback sequence, he’s been merely name-dropped around National City. Still, the likes of Lena and Lillian have filled the void in a sense, with the latter actually beating her son to the punch by being the first to don the Lexo suit in live action.

Much like the comic books that spawned it, the Arrowverse hasn’t shied away from the multiverse concept. In fact, it’s allowed for us to meet alternate versions of our favorite DC characters, not to mention making it possible for Earth-1 heroes like Green Arrow and the Flash to team up with Earth-38’s Supergirl – even in the days when her home was internally referred to as “Earth-CBS.”
Interestingly enough, Batman has been name-dropped or hinted at on both Arrow and Supergirl, forcing us to think he exists in both universes. Hey, if we’ve met more than one version of Oliver Queen, then there’d have to be more than one Bruce Wayne, right?
Well, tonight’s installment of “Elseworlds” confirmed our suspicion during a conversation involving Kate Kane and Kara Danvers. Already, we knew of a Batman existing at some point on Earth-1 because, well, that...

Though we still have one more chapter to go in what’s proving to be one hell of a memorable crossover event, tonight’s installment of “Elseworlds” could very well go down as the most unforgettable segment. Granted, it was cool to see the heroes of the Arrowverse doing their thing once again, but it’s Ruby Rose’s Batwoman who made the lasting impression.
In short, Gotham City’s new protector showed up in style – and I’m already psyched for her to get her own series. I mean, not only did Rose pull off the character as I’d imagine her to be in live action – and, apparently, a lot of people are in agreement – but she brought more Easter eggs than you could shake an issue of Detective Comics at along for the ride.

Now that the first and second parts of the “Elseworlds” crossover epic are behind us, it’s not too much of a stretch to say that this might go down as the Arrowverse’s best mega event to date. In the series, The Flash and Green Arrow will find themselves going up against Doctor John Deegan (Jeremy Davis), who has the "Godlike" ability to reshape reality by The Monitor. This seems to pave the way for the introduction of a villainous version of Superman who is wearing a black suit.

If you’ve been on the Supergirl bandwagon for some time, then you no doubt remember how its first season showed Superman only in silhouette, or gave glimpses of his boots while the rest of his figure lied off camera. Fortunately, Tyler Hoechlin suited up as the Last Son of Krypton at the top of the show’s sophomore year, thus forcing us all to stop rolling our eyes whenever the character made a “cameo.”
On the downside, that iteration of Big Blue hasn’t been seen since season 2’s finale, but our attention was grabbed when word got out that an upcoming episode for this fall had been titled “Man of Steel,” as everyone naturally assumed that’d serve as his return.
Well, in reality, that title’s been bestowed in an ironic sense, for the newest big bad, Agent Liberty, will be the focus of said installment instead.

If you’re one to follow the Arrowverse and tuned in for the recent midseason finales, then you’re well aware of how each of them left off on crazy cliffhangers that knocked us on our rears. Of course, Supergirl was the show that got the ball rolling, and it did so in brutal fashion.
Being the first series to come off the monumental crossover that was Crisis on Earth-x, it was important that the Maiden of Might had a strong showing – and that she did. Or at least, her TV show as an entity did, because Kara Zor-El herself was handed a beatdown like no other at the hands of Reign in a visceral battle that won’t be soon forgotten. And when you consider that Kara once bested her cousin, Superman, in a round of fisticuffs, that should give you an idea of just how formidable the Worldkiller truly is.

Now that Rhea’s endgame has been put into action, the stakes on Supergirl have never been raised higher as Earth-38 now has a full-scale alien invasion on its hands. As it turned out, all that jazz involving out of control Phorians last night was the fault of Mon-El’s mother after all.
Having established that Rhea intends on turning this planet into New Daxam, it looks like Supergirl and the Deo will be forced to align themselves with Cadmus in an “enemy of my enemy” scenario that we can only hope doesn’t lean toward saying that the xenophobic organization was right the entire time.
Beyond that, one has to wonder how this will pave the way for the arrival of General Zod, whereas Superman’s involvement in the coming season finale seems a bit more self-explanatory – the planet is under attack and he’s needed. Still, the producers...

From what we can tell, next Monday’s instalment of Supergirl, the appropriately titled “Homecoming,” is something the series has been building to since its earliest of episodes. After all, Dean Cain’s Jeremiah Danvers has inarguably been a very key character, regardless of the fact that he pops up sporadically.
While the images seen at the top paint a most jovial picture and show this to be a joyous occasion for the Danvers family, the trailer leads us to believe otherwise. It stands to reason that after being in the clutches of the sinister Cadmus organization for so long that Jeremiah would’ve undergone some Re-Neducation as it were. Therefore, I’m half-expecting to see him betray his most beloved.

This past Monday’s episode of Supergirl featured the return of the original Hank Henshaw as Cyborg Superman. Now, a new clip has been released which features the robotic villain heading to National City’s alien bar to take on Mon-El in a battle which doesn’t end up going particularly well for the Daxamite refugee.
When we first met Hank in Supergirl, many fans suspected that he would be revealed as Cyborg Superman when his eyes glowed red in the final few moments of the pilot. However, the big twist was that he was actually Martian Manhunter and that he’d replaced Hank years earlier when the Deo boss tried to murder the Girl of Steel’s adoptive father.

The CW has released the first clip from next Monday’s episode of Supergirl (the first part of the four night “Invasion!” crossover), and in it we get a quick tease of what’s to come when The Flash and Cisco make their way to the Earth that Kara Danvers calls home.
Before that happen though, it seems that Thanksgiving dinner isn’t exactly going smoothly for the Danvers clan. A tipsy Alex is clearly ready to come out of the closet to her friends and family, but there’s a fair bit of tension between her and the Girl of Steel. Before she can spill the beans, Alex is interrupted by one of Vibe’s breaches, the portals he creates to travel between realities.

Some really cool stuff happened on Supergirl last night. Melissa Benoist was adorably perfect in the role, as usual, and guest star Lynda Carter made a big impact with her surprisingly (to me, anyway) small part. But Lgbtq+ representation took center stage. First off, how about that twirl? Incredible #WonderWoman homage in tonight's #Supergirl, which guest stars Lynda Carter pic.twitter.com/684puAgR2T — Jarett Wieselman (@JarettSays) October 25, 2016 In case anyone was wondering, Supergirl writer Derek Simon confirmed this was absolutely a '70s Wonder Woman reference. if #Supergirl's fire-extinguishing spin looks familiar, well, there's a reason for that... pic.twitter.com/5IThjxAn3m — Derek Simon (@DerekSimonID4) October 25, 2016 Carter also got to speak a fantastic line that referenced her "other jet" and for a few seconds I thought to myself, "What if she's actually Wonder Woman in this universe??" Not quite but there is more to her story. However,...

The first clip has been released from next week’s episode of Supergirl, and in it, we get our best look yet at former Wonder Woman Lynda Carter as the President of the United States. The actress being added to the cast of The CW series has generated a lot of hype, and the network is no doubt hoping that those who tuned in for Superman will stick around for Carter now.
In the clip, we see the President come under attack from a mysterious alien menace only for the Girl of Steel to fly in and save the day. Despite very nearly being burned to a crisp, the leader of the free world seems intent on giving alien attackers the same rights as America citizens, something Deo boss Hank Henshaw (a.k.a. Martian Manhunter) doesn’t seem that on board with.

Last night’s episode of Supergirl featured the departures of both Superman and Cat Grant. While the latter will return sporadically throughout the show’s second season, the Man of Steel’s future on The CW is unknown. Regardless, this trailer for next week’s instalment makes it clear that Kara Danvers is going to have plenty to keep her busy.
In it, we get a first look at Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman) as the President of the United States. The actress coming to Supergirl is something which has been receiving a lot of mainstream media coverage, which has no doubt made Warner Bros. very happy seeing as they’re looking to ensure that viewers have followed the series from CBS.

The CW has released a first look at next week's episode of Supergirl, and in it we see a pretty violent looking confrontation between the Girl of Steel and Mon-El, along with the debut of Lynda Carter's President of the Untited States. Both characters look set to shake up the series in a big way, and they'll need to, especially now that Superman has headed back to Metropolis and Cat Grant has left CatCo! An attack is made on the President (guest star Lynda Carter) as hot-button, alien vs. human rights issues heat up in National City. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and the Deo are assigned to protect the President and bring in the responsible party. Alex (Chyler Leigh) teams up with Detective Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima) to investigate the case while Kara searches for a recently escaped Mon-El (Chris Wood), who she fears may be the alien behind the assault.

The CW has released the first official images from the third episode of Supergirl‘s second season, and in them we not only get an even better look at Lynda Carter’s (Wonder Woman) President of the United States, but also the first shots of Detective Maggie Sawyer. A key Superman supporting character in the comics, she would later become romantically involved with Batwoman.
There’s nothing to say that we’ll see that superhero show up in Supergirl at any point, especially as many fans believe/hope that we’ll see her instead strike up a relationship with Alex Danvers. That would line up with previous comments from producers, that one of the show’s characters is going to end up coming out during season 2.

I think there’s something to be said when even naysayers of your first season are floored by the premiere of your second. Such is the case for Supergirl, which dazzled fans last night with its debut on The CW, a network that is known for its stellar superhero adaptations. Boasting an hour of spectacular action sequences, tons of charm, and the introduction of Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman, it’s no wonder that social media is buzzing today.
The first of two trailers for next week’s episode, “The Last Children of Krypton,” gives us a taste of the looming battle with John Corben/Metallo, whereas the second cobbles together footage from the premiere and upcoming episodes to tease what we can expect this season from the sinister organization known as Cadmus. Needless to say, it’s interesting stuff.
