- It all started in a little town called Wichita, Kansas. In that town lived three rock musicians who couldn't stop dreaming of constant seventy degree weather, earthquakes and girls without tan lines. So... Ryan Oliver, Lucas Kuzma, and Cameron Overstake moved to North Hollywood, California. While they were there, they went to school at Los Angeles Recording Workshop (LARW) to learn more about producing there own music. It just so happened, that through a mutual friend, the Kansas trio met a lyricist from New York selling his solo album out the back of his station wagon. His name was Mba Shakoor.
Meanwhile, South Bay native and full time MC, Andrew Alvarado, was also attending school at LARW. Late one evening he tried to rob the three musicians in the parking lot after class. After realizing they had no money, he let them go. However, after stealing their CD collection he was very impressed by their selection. He apologized the next day and they all became friends soon after, although Drew never returned the CDs.
At that same time, two guys from Maine were traveling across the United States to join forces with a band they had no idea existed. Aaron Bennett, aka B-nut, a DJ from the Pine Tree State of Maine says, "I saw them in my dreams...naked." Strangely enough, though raised in the same town, bassist David Kehs and B-nut never crossed paths until arriving in California and becoming roommates.
For the past two years the seven of them have been packing venues, throwing parties and most importantly, perfecting the beat. Chakra's first music video from 2002 is "Destiny" directed by filmmaker Danny Roew. Chakra has also been heard on the big screen in movies such as The Cavern (2005) and co-starring in Journey to Lasta (2004).- IMDb Mini Biography By: Chakra
