On May 13, 2005, The New York Giants cut ties with him and reached an
injury settlement. The move had been anticipated since Miller underwent
hip surgery in April.
He was destined to be the potential backup and tutor to second-year
veteran Eli Manning but he underwent hip surgery. The procedure was the
latest in a series of setbacks for the star-crossed 10-year veteran and
could lead to retirement.
He was drafted in the 6th round of the 1994 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh
Steelers, 178th overall. He never played an entire game at quarterback
with the Pittsburgh Steelers (1994-1996) and never took a snap with the
Atlanta Falcons (1997).
He earned the starting job and was instrumental in the Bears brief
playoff-run in 2001 - their first berth since 1994.
On January 19, 2002, when the Chicago Bears met The Philadelphia Eagles
in The NFC Divisional Playoffs, He separated his shoulder in the second
half after being hit by Hugh Douglas. The Bears would go on to lose
33-19.
