Drake and Kendrick Lamar are two of the most popular and commended rappers in the music industry, and yet, they are also two of the most controversial ones. Thanks to their long-ongoing feud and rocky relationship that just doesn’t seem to want to repair at any cost, the two have been under the spotlight every now and then through their diss tracks for each other.

However, with his most recent track, the Canadian rapper cum singer seems to have taken a bit too nasty dig at Lamar. This is because, in his recently released Family Matters, the 37 year-old singer seemingly implied that his rival and 36 year-old American rapper cum songwriter’s fiancée Whitney Alford allegedly had an affair with Lamar’s manager and creative partner, Dave Free.

If you thought babysitting was tough, try stopping the birth of the Antichrist. The First Omen sweeps you into a visually lush 1970s Rome, serving up a sumptuous feast for the eyes that’s as stylish as it is shadowy. Although you might find yourself guessing the twists before they unfurl, the film keeps its grip with a dark, rich portrayal of evil’s origins. It’s all for you, Damien.
“[The First Omen serves] up a sumptuous feast for the eyes that’s as stylish as it is shadowy.”
From the opening scenes, the film devilishly dazzles with a rich color palette that superbly captures the eerie 1970s Rome, replete with political unrest, religious skepticism and foreboding religious iconography. The grandeur of the Eternal City is captured in sweeping vistas, which, combined with a robust orchestral score, elevates the production value to a level that’s a rarity in modern horror flicks. The First Omen releases in theaters on April 5th, 2024.
I don’t know to what extent The Omen (1976) is considered a classic, but the truth is that it was one of the most profitable films of its respective year, it has one of the most memorable scores of that decade – so much so that it even won an Oscar, something extremely rare considering the genre – and, of course, it spawned several sequels and even a remake over all these years. The First Omen is the sixth installment of the franchise and, as the title indicates, it’s a prequel to the original movie. It’s also the directorial debut of Arkasha Stevenson who also co-writes the screenplay along with Tim Smith and Keith Tomas (Firestarter).

Nobody could predict that a theatrical Omen prequel would go as hard as Arkasha Stevenson’s The First Omen. There’s minimal wiggle room for narrative surprises leading into 1976’s blasphemous horror tale about the antichrist, yet Stevenson oversees a frightening and stimulating franchise origin. Rosemary’s Baby and The Omen surface as obvious sources of inspiration, but The First Omen compares cleanest to Neon’s religion-roasting Sydney Sweeney vehicle Immaculate. Stevenson unleashes astonishingly graphic imagery that’d make Immaculate blush, and despite how the two-hour running time presents laggy pacing issues, The First Omen successfully executes standalone appeal while fulfilling its promise of being all for you, Damien.
The film’s events occur in Rome’s Vizzardeli Orphanage, where American candidate Margaret Daino (Nell Tiger Free) transfers to earn her status as a Sister. Cardinal Lawrence (Bill Nighy) extends a familiar welcome since he’s known Margaret since childhood.

Richard Donner’s The Omen begins June 6, at 6 am in Rome, with the birth of the Antichrist and his adoption into an affluent American family. Damien Thorn’s birth and subsequent reign of terror, preordained by franchise canon, make approaching a prequel to a heralded horror classic a daunting task. Director Arkasha Stevenson makes it look effortless with The First Omen, a masterclass in form matched by its compelling horror and characters.
The First Omen, set in 1971, follows American novitiate Margaret Daino (“Servant” star Nell Tiger Free) as she’s sent to Rome to work in an orphanage before she takes the veil. As Margaret adapts to not just her new vocation but an entirely new country and a city in the throes of unrest, she finds herself drawn to socially withdrawn orphan Carlita (Nicole Sorace). It’s through her bond with and concern for Carlita that Margaret notices something amiss within the convent.

In what feels like a (brief) return of twin films — two movies with very similar plots released at the same time, like "Deep Impact" and "Armageddon" — we now have "The First Omen" and "Immaculate" bringing Catholic horror and nunsploitation back to the big screen.
"The First Omen" takes us back to a sweet time in the '70s when everyone was obsessed with religious horror, thanks in no small part to the monumental success of "The Exorcist" and "Rosemary's Baby." The film is a prequel to Richard Donner's 1976 film "The Omen," about the coming of the Antichrist that also plays very much like a Catholic take on "Final Destination" — with photos that show the order and the gruesome manner in which several characters in the film will die.

‘The First Omen’ Director Arkasha Stevenson Says Classic Horror Franchise Has Plenty of Stories Left
In her feature directorial debut, The First Omen filmmaker Arkasha Stevenson has pulled off the delicate balance between homage and invention. Prequels are always tricky in this regard, but it’s especially difficult when it involves Richard Donner’s horror classic, The Omen (1976). Stevenson’s assignment, in conjunction with her co-writer and producer Tim Smith, was to tell the origin story of how Damien Thorn came into the world and who gave birth to the franchise’s indelible Antichrist character.
Set in 1971, Stevenson’s story begins with the arrival of novitiate Margaret Daino (Nell Tiger Free) at a Rome-based orphanage, and she soon discovers a sinister plot to birth the Antichrist in order for the Catholic Church to regain its grip on the counterculture society of the ’60s and ’70s. For the uninitiated moviegoers who catch The First Omen this weekend, Nell Tiger Free’s performance will be something of a revelation. For fans of M. Night Shyamalan’s Apple TV+ series Servant, her performance will further expand on what they saw for four seasons.
The English actor, who’s also known for memorable roles on Game of Thrones and Nicolas Winding Refn’s Too Old to Die Young, plays American novitiate Margaret Daino in Arkasha Stevenson’s prequel to Richard Donner’s 1976 horror classic The Omen. The story centers around Margaret’s arrival at a Rome orphanage and her discovery of a wicked plot to spawn the antichrist. But as Free’s character dives deeper into the disturbing conspiracy, her own personal demons begin to resurface, leading to a scene that pays homage to Isabelle Adjani’s famous subway scene in Andrzej Zulawski’s Possession (1981).

That’s a rating the filmmakers really had to fight for, as director Arkasha Stevenson revealed to Fangoria that there’s a birthing scene that nearly earned the film an Nc-17 rating – mainly because it featured a thirteen second shot of a woman’s vagina. That shot had to be whittled down to secure the R.
Stevenson said, “The horror in that situation is how dehumanized that woman is. This has been my life for a year and a half, fighting for the shot. It’s the theme of our film.

Apple TV+ has launched the trailer for Noel Fielding-led comedy ‘The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin,’ which premieres globally on March 1st.
The six-episode Apple Original centres on Dick Turpin (Fielding), who sets out on a journey of wildly absurd escapades when he’s made the reluctant leader of a band of outlaws — and tasked with outwitting corrupt lawman and self-appointed thief-taker Jonathan Wilde (Hugh Bonneville).
In this irreverent retelling set in the 18th century, Turpin is the most famous but least likely of highway robbers, whose success is defined mostly by his charm, showmanship and great hair. Together with his gang of lovable rogues, Turpin rides the highs and lows of his new endeavours, including a brush with celebrity, all whilst trying to escape the clutches of the thief-taker.
Starring alongside Fielding in the ensemble cast are Ellie White (“The Windsors”), Marc Wootton (“High & Dry”), Duayne Boachie...

The first new music from Kendrick Lamar since 2022 has arrived in the form of a score for a new short film titled The Button, celebrating the Chanel Spring-Summer 2024 Haute Couture show next week.
At “the invitation of” Chanel’s creative director, Virginie Viard, The Button is a collaborative project between the brand and Lamar’s media company with Dave Free, pgLang. The three-minute, black-and-white short film was written by Free, and stars Margaret Qualley, Anna Mouglalis, and supermodel Naomi Campbell.
Following the arc of The Button’s plot, Lamar’s score — itself possibly a snippet of an unreleased song — is built around a driving beat, and features a subdued verse from the rapper, as well as a brief vocal hook. Check it out below.
pgLang first hinted at a collaboration with Chanel in the summer of 2023, and Lamar was seen donning Chanel at last year’s Paris Couture Week. Now,...

At the Cannes Film Festival in 2018, Kristen Stewart announced that her feature directorial debut would be an adaptation of “The Chronology of Water,” the 2011 memoir by author Lidia Yuknavitch. Since then, Stewart has been pounding the pavement to drum up financing for the project. But despite her track record of headlining some of the most well regarded independent films of the last 10 years — from “Clouds of Sils Maria” to “Spencer” — and despite the fact that Imogen Poots is attached to star as Yuknavitch, and that Ridley Scott is producing through his production company Scott Free, Stewart has been unable to secure the backing she needs to move forward.
This frustrating experience has pushed Stewart to make a surprising announcement about “The Chronology of Water” during her interview for Variety’s Jan. 11 cover story.
“I’m going to make this movie before I ever work for someone else,” she says, before breaking into nervous laughter.

Exclusive: In what might be the last big one in a flurry of pre-holiday material auctions, 20th Studios has bought the Kevin McMullin short story Bomb, an action thriller with franchise potential and a killer role for a young actor. Ridley Scott has attached to direct, with his Scott Free producing. McMullin will write the script.
This was a very competitive landscape with 10 bidders, including Apple, Netflix, Sony and Warner Brothers. Deal closed at low seven figures for the short story and the writing deal. Ultimately 20th prevailed when Scott attached to direct, and due to Scott Free’s relationship with McMullin.
Scott Free’s Ridley Scott and Michael Pruss are producing. Scott is coming off the hit Napoleon and is currently at work finishing Gladiator 2. This would come a ways down the line, since it has to be scripted and developed.

Robert Rich met Winona Ryder shortly after the release of “Girl, Interrupted” in 1999 when she was shopping at the Marc Jacobs store in the Mercer Hotel in New York City. Rich, who was head of communications for the designer at the time, nervously approached the actor.
“I said, ‘I loved ‘Girl Interrupted,’ and she went, ‘That’s a girls movie,’” Rich recalls. “I said, ‘I’m a girls movie kind of guy.’”
They became fast friends. Now, more than two decades later, Rich is the author of “Winona,” a coffee table book featuring over 100 photos of Ryder, plus a forward by Jacobs. Rich took most of the picture. These aren’t glamour shots, but intimate Polaroids and images that were taken during private times together — many snapped inside the Marc Jacobs offices with other superstars like Kate Moss.

Travon Free and Martin Desmond Roe have found their next act.
The Oscar-winning duo behind police brutality short Two Distant Strangers and, more recently, HBO’s Bs High, have teamed with Group Nine Studios’ former president Mickey Meyer to launch a new entertainment company titled The Unreasnble. The goal of the full-service media company is to develop, produce, finance and incubate stories that have had historically limited access to mainstream media.
“The work stoppages and battles we recently experienced and are still experiencing across our industry for fair and equitable pay and ownership of our work is a clear sign we can no longer adapt to the ways of this business,” explains Free, “but instead we have to adapt it to us, the creators, and that’s what we intend to do.”

Long before every conceivable comic book character received a film adaptation in the hopes of becoming the next blockbuster, there was Superman. While box office returns diminished over the course of four movies, the Man of Steel’s big-screen success heralded a crop of other superhero movies. Producers Benjamin Melniker and Michael E. Uslan swooped in to acquire the film rights to DC Comics’ other most well-known character, Batman (and they remain executive producers on every Batman movie), along with a more obscure title, Swamp Thing.
Not unlike a common trajectory in the modern comic book movie boom – in which filmmakers who have proven themselves in the genre space are given the keys to superhero properties – Wes Craven was enlisted to write and direct 1982’s Swamp Thing despite his unfamiliarity with the source material. While he would go on to make a name for himself with A Nightmare on Elm Street next,...

Before the SeaWorld Kills movement, we had Free Willy, the 1993 film whose emotional ending taught us that maybe, just maybe, orcas shouldn’t live in tiny pools. Of course, 30 years ago CGI wasn’t what it is now, and in a new interview, director Simon Wincer revealed how, exactly, they made Free Willy possible: a rocket launcher.
“I remember saying to my agent: ‘If I can deliver the finale — where the whale leaps to freedom — we’ve got a movie,'” Wincer told The Guardian. “We had so many meetings about how the hell we were going to do it. It was the early days of CGI so we shot at high tide in a small harbour — and literally built a rocket launcher with an animatronic whale on it. It would fly out of the water and come to a stop then CGI would take over. Like any pivotal movie moment,...

Oscar-winner Kevin Macdonald is working on a crowdsourced film project telling the real story of the world’s collective mental health.
I Hope this Helps comes from the team behind Macdonald’s Life in a Day, which they describe as the “largest mass-participation feature film in history.”
Kevin Macdonald
For I Hope this Helps, charitable foundation Wellcome has asked people to send in footage documenting the realities of their mental health journeys. The film hopes to match the scale of Life in a Day but with “a new social impact objective at its heart.”
Whitney director Macdonald recently struck a multi-project deal with Banijay and has also made social issues docs such as ITV’s It Takes a Flood.
He said I Hope this Helps will capture the “raw, personal experiences of individuals from all walks of life.”
“The world has faced an extraordinary period of uncertainty and upheaval, and...

Washington, April 19 (Ians) A team of US college students aim to land the first robotic rover on the Moon, before NASA, the media reported.
The Iris rover has been developed by the students of Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania. It will be carried to the Moon as part of NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (Clps) programme, Space.com reported.
The mission, likely to be launched this spring, represents America’s first robotic Moon rover, as well as the first rover developed by university students.
NASA’s first robotic Moon rover – Viper rover — is scheduled to launch only next year.
Weighing 2 kg, the Iris rover has a chassis, and its carbon-fibre wheels are the size of bottle caps. Its 60-hour-long mission will be a primarily visual one: Snapping images of the Moon’s surface for geographic study.
It will also test new localisation techniques as it transmits data about its position back to Earth.

Shazam star Zachary Levi is seemingly carrying the torch for comedy in superhero movies. Most of the ongoing DC slate has some element of comedy, from The Suicide Squad to the lighthearted tone of The Flash. But with Marvel’s Ant-Man going for a more serious science fiction tone, Levi’s character is starting to look a little lonely.
That might be why the Chuck actor is trying to re-enlist a former DC actor for the new wave of films under director James Gunn. He thinks Ryan Reynolds should come back to the DC universe, playing the very character that got him ousted in the first place.
