- As a lifelong devotee to fitness & bodybuilding, for authoring countless many books & magazine articles on bodybuilding and providing an outstanding example of an all around fine athlete and 'good fellow'; he was inducted into the National Fitness Hall of Fame in 2010. - In his bid to win the N.A.B.B.A. Professional Mr. Universe Crown in 1956 he came in second to Jack Delinger, Mr. America of 1949. (see musclememory.com) He did return to take top honors at the '61, '67 and '71 Pro Mr. Universe contests.
- As a virtual novice in bodybuilding, he won the AAU Mr. America contest in 1953; following his hitch in the U.S. Navy.
- Following his Mr. America win, Bill took first place in the National Amateur Bodybuilders Association or N.A.B.B.A. (London) Mr. Universe, that same year ('53).
- In later years, he did a stage presentation in which he both impersonated and recreated the posing routines of famed old time Circus Strongman & Vaudvillian, Eugen Sandow (1867-1925).
- Bill Pearl's personal appearances and exhibitions included many of the Old Time Strongman stunts, such as: Bending Spikes & Horse Shoes with nothing more than his Hand & Arm Strength and the Blowing Up of Hotwater Bottles until they burst.
- Was a Professional Wrestler.

- In the 1960s he contracted with North American Rockwell's Aerospace Program to guide training protocols for Rockwell executives and astronauts.
- During his career he trained and coached nine Mr. America winners and fourteen Mr. Universe champions.
- He wrote three books: Keys to the Inner Universe (1978), Getting Stronger (1986), and Beyond the Universe: The Bill Pearl Story (2003).
- During the '70s and '80s, Pearl had monthly Q&A columns called "Pearl of the Universe" and "Wisdom of Pearl" in MuscleMag International and Muscle Builder (later Muscle & Fitness) magazines, respectively.
- In 2004 he was awarded the Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Lifetime Achievement Award for significantly impacting the world of bodybuilding.
