Exclusive: This is a rare occurrence in the current strike-impacted broadcast season — a scripted series getting an order for additional episodes. According to sources, the CW’s flagship drama All American is having its current sixth season extended from 13 episode to 15 episodes.
All American’s first five seasons have ranged between 16-20 episodes. With the series picking up just over a year after the end of Season 5, there is a lot of unpack, and the extra episodes would allow to better flesh out the story and build toward a satisfying conclusion.
It also would allow fans to stay in the current world longer as All American‘s characters are preparing for major life changes, with series protagonist Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) and potentially Jordan Baker (Michael Evans Behling) headed to the NFL draft.

[This story contains spoilers from the season six premiere of All American, “Things Done Changed.”]
After nearly a yearlong gap since its season five finale, All American made its season six premiere on The CW on Monday night.
The sports drama that is centered around football player Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) — which has followed the star wide receiver and his friends from his days at Crenshaw High up through his freshman year at the fictitious Golden Angeles University last season — will mark 100 episodes on May 27. It’s a milestone Ezra says came as a shock to him, like many others in the series.
“When I was cast, that was a surprise. When the pilot got picked up, that was a surprise. I didn’t expect any of it,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “It took me two seasons to give up my apartment in London. I just thought, ‘They’re going to send me back.’”

All American is officially back for Season 6 beginning April 1, and stars Samantha Logan, Daniel Ezra, Michael Evans Behling, Greta Onieogou, and Bre-z are offering some insight into their favorite moments and what’s to come next. Stopping by TV Insider’s official studio at the Television Critics Association Press Tour this winter, the cast talked Jordayla scenes, life after Billy (Taye Diggs), and more. (Credit: Bill Inoshita/The CW) “I really love the scene where they have their first kiss,” Oniegou says of her favorite Jordan and Layla moment. “Not their first kiss,” she clarifies, “but their first kiss of the when they’re like, ‘Yes, we like each other…’ But I think in terms of what best represents them, I think it’s probably a scene where Jordan is spiraling and Layla’s like, ‘Relax, relax.'” She looks to Behling who plays her other half onscreen, and he agrees,...

“Welcome home.”
Those were the two words that All American star Bre-z used to describe the CW series’ upcoming sixth season. New episodes are right around the corner, with the Season 6 premiere set for April 1, and audiences will pick up with the characters more than a year after they last saw them.
Season 5 ended on a bit of tumultuous note for many of the characters. Spencer (Daniel Ezra) and Olivia (Samantha Logan) were finally able to reconnect just as Liv was leaving to spend what everyone thought would be three months in London for an internship. Turns out, it was a bit longer than that.
Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) proposed to Layla (Greta Onieogou). Asher (Cody Christian) began preparing to have a baby. Patience (Chelsea Tavares) was stabbed outside the Baker home, unaware that Coop (Bre-z) was on her way there to confess she still had feelings she wanted to explore.

All American is returning in April for its sixth season, and there is no shortage of stories to explore after the way Season 5 ended.
During the show’s panel at The Television Critics Association winter press tour, showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll joined the cast to discuss all things Season 6.
Season 5 left audiences with several cliffhangers, including Spencer (Daniel Ezra) and Olivia (Samantha Logan) finally reconnecting at the airport as Liv is about to leave Los Angeles to spend the summer in London. Despite a bit of bad timing, Ezra and Logan assured that their characters will have kept their promise to be waiting for each other when Liv returns. However, it won’t be easy.
The sixth season will kick off with Liv’s return, and Ezra warned “they’ve had a significant amount of time apart. That changes both of them. They’ve been on separate continents for a minute now,...

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from this week’s episode of All American.
How do people, even members of the same family, deal with their grief differently? That’s the question that The CW‘s All American is seeking to tackle in the episodes following the death of Coach Billy Baker (Taye Diggs).
After spotlighting Billy’s wife Laura (Monet Mazur) and his daughter Olivia (Samantha Logan), Monday night’s episode hones in on how his son Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) is handling the loss of his father — the man he looked up to most.
“You’re gonna see him struggle with certain things that Billy left behind that maybe Billy wasn’t able to finish…and he will continue to be there for others who are still hurting,” Behling told Deadline, adding: “You’re gonna see that throughout the rest of the season.”
