Everett Kelsey is a Brooklyn, New York City born actor/filmmaker, who after moving back to the US from Germany (where he lived for several years), has immersed himself in Hollywood since the end 2000.
Through Organic Polyester Productions, founded by Everett in 2004, his scripts and work in front and behind the camera, have premiered in multiple Oscar award qualifying festivals, including: Slamdance, Hollywood Black Film Festival, Final Draft's 'Big Break' Screenplay Completion, and Page International Screenplay Competition.
Whether exploring the innerworkings of characters he is portraying, or showcasing perspectives of society on screens, Everett focuses on the intersectionality between beauty and ugliness without judgement.
Inspired by his grandfather, Dr. Martin Luther King's mentor and close family friend, Professor, Dr. George D. Kelsey, and shocked by the urgency revealed in George Floyd's death in 2020, Everett founded BLKMKT(TM) Media in 2020 to improve storytelling that features humanity's shared, authentic, multiculturalism as assets.
The transition of storytelling content may have changed in technical format (from in theatre programmed movies and in home TV, to on mobile device "all you can pay to watch" access), but the substance of stories available remain limited in authentic scope and depth. Sadly too, the technical advances in mobile content access (streaming movies and games) have fed amygdala "fight or flight" neurochemical responses, not empathy or compassion responses in susceptible young and marginalized audience members.
Everett believes media entertainment should not serve as a delivery system to incite fear, sedate, control and misrepresent target audiences. BLKMKT's focus is on stories without racist caricatures, to create stories of working to achieve human dignity without succumbing to painting a digital canvas with hero, villain, partner and bystander characters who historically wouldn't exist in real life.
When not in front of the camera, Everett explores what impact artificial intelligence (AI) will have in Hollywood through his generative AI company Nebula Pictures.
