Exclusive: Olivia DeJonge (Elvis) has been set as the female lead for The Trashers—the latest feature from Sundance prize-winning director Cooper Raiff (Cha Cha Real Smooth), which will have her starring alongside David Harbour and Cooper Hoffman.
The film will center on Hoffman’s character Aj—the teenage son of Connecticut trash magnate and Genovese crime family associate Jimmy Galante (Harbour). In 2004, Galante bought the city’s minor-league hockey team and assigned A.J. to run it. The two had bonded over their love for the game when A.J. played, with his crooked father hoping to hold onto their bond. The kid did well, watching the team gain notoriety for its rough and violent style of play but also developing a wide fan base as it started to win more and more games. The team’s success and fame all came to an abrupt end with Galante’s arrest on 72 criminal charges.

Cooper Hoffman has found his next role in Cooper Raiff’s “The Trashers,” playing son to David Harbour’s father.
The “Cha Cha Real Smooth” writer-director’s third film takes a page from the real story of Jimmy Galante (Harbour), a Connecticut trash tycoon and member of the Genovese crime family who purportedly inspired the character Tony Soprano. In 2004, Galante took over his city’s minor-league hockey team and put his teenage son A.J. (Hoffman) in charge of running it. Under A.J.’s command, the team quickly gains notoriety for its violent but effective playing style, racking up one win after another. However, it all comes crashing down when Galante is arrested on 72 criminal charges.

After a complicated pandemic-affected shoot, Palme d’Or-winning Swedish filmmaker Ruben Östlund has wrapped his new movie Triangle Of Sadness, a satire set in the world of high fashion.
The project first rolled cameras on February 4 in Sweden, completing its initial 25-day leg as lockdowns were being implemented across Europe. Cast member Woody Harrelson was unable to fly to the Scandi nation until June to shoot his part, while the Greek leg was delayed until late September, when it finally began its nine-week shoot.
Also starring are Harris Dickinson, Charlbi Dean, Vicky Berlin, Dolly De Leon, Zlatko Buric, Iris Berben, Amanda Walker, Oliver Ford Davies, Henrik Dorsin, Jean-Christophe Folly and Sunnyi Melles. Pic follows two models who are invited on a luxury cruise. As the yacht sinks, they are left stranded on a desert island with a group of billionaires and a cleaning lady. In the fight for survival, hierarchy is turned upside-down.

Julia Roberts is quietly desperate for her son in the new trailer for the family drama “Ben Is Back.”
She portrays the mother of a charming yet deeply troubled boy, played by Lucas Hedges, who arrives home unexpectedly on Christmas Eve after skipping rehab.
“He’s got the sparkle back in his eyes,” Roberts says before hiding the household’s pill bottles.
Ben is soon forced to pay off a drug debt in a sleazy part of town as his mother waits in the car. “If you really knew me, you’d be done with me,” Hedges tells her.
The grim footage also shows Roberts taking Hedges to the local graveyard and telling him, “Just tell me, son, where you want me to bury you.”

Dee Rees is a tall woman of fierce charisma. She’s the kind of director who talks fast, ideas coming so quickly that those less inclined can barely keep up. And yet her output has been slow: After Focus Features snapped up her breakout 2011 feature debut “Pariah” at Sundance, it was four years before HBO Film’s Emmy and DGA-award-winning 2015 biopic “Bessie.”

Us producers and execs from HBO, HanWay and China’s Wanda Group discuss distribution challenges and impending consolidation.
The surplus of scripted drama, European film consolidation and business diversification were among was the key topics highlighted at the Zurich Summit (Sept 26-27).
Film and TV executives alike touched on the likelihood of consolidation coming their way, both in the Us scripted TV market and the European film distribution space.
Antony Root, Evp of original programming and production at HBO Europe, said: “There are 400 scripted shows on Us TV this year. There can’t possibly be the amount of writing, directing and acting talent in Hollywood to sustain that.
“As happened with the dot-com boom there will likely be a consolidation.”

Exclusive: Black Bear Pictures, the financier-producer of the Oscar-contending drama The Imitation Game, has made a major move to expand. President-ceo Teddy Schwarzman today set as president and COO Dan Steinman, the seven-year veteran of the CAA Film Finance Group. Steinman will be based in New York, as Gotham-based Schwarzman moves to Los Angeles to start an outpost there. They’ve also upped Black Bear’s Ben Stillman from veep to senior vice president.
Steinman has long been a fixture in the indie film game, serving as a partner at Sloss Law Office before moving to CAA (before launching Black Bear, Schwarzman, also an attorney, worked for John Sloss’ sister company, Cinetic, and before that was a Citigroup analyst). At CAA, Steinman worked with Black Bear Pictures on a number of projects, and most notably helped in brokering the record-setting U.S. distribution deal for The Imitation Game with The Weinstein Company at Berlin.

So what and who is the Cine-Masochist? Well me obviously, but it's a show that's main focus is celebrating bad movies instead of bashing them. If you love 80's action/slashers and exploitation films then this should be right up your alley! The link to my you…...
