Jeff Brookshire
- Writer
- Director
- Actor
Jeffery McMichael Brookshire brings an intensity, diversity and focus
to the table as a writer/director and editor of Awaken The Dead.
Because his writing style is heavily visual (He 'sees' the scenes as he
writes them.), directing was a natural progression from his writing.
For him, it's all about "bringing the story to life." His early
background in drawing comics easily translated into the perspective and
visualization needed to storyboard his movies (With over eighty pages
of storyboards for Awaken The Dead alone). His early background as a DJ
and compilation mixer helped to give him an ear and feel for music that
was heavily incorporated into the making of Awaken The Dead. In fact,
the bands for the movie were chosen before even the actors. A firm
believer that a director's imprint should be felt consistently
throughout the film, Jeff was actively involved in the music, casting,
location scouting, wardrobe, props, and more. But he will also be the
first to admit that the film was made possible only with the
collaboration and support of every member of the cast and crew. Driven
by story and character, Jeff formed an open and balanced rapport with
cast and crew.
Son of a minister, Jeff moved often growing up, calling Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina, Germany, Tennessee, Florida, Ohio, and finally California home. This helped to hone his adaptability while a degree in English Literature and Film honed his imagination. After a lifetime of writing and a lengthy tenure in upper management (Which taught him organization and leadership), Jeff turned his focus on Hollywood. After writing Looking for Prince Charming (2006) for Taylor Made Productions, Jeff decided to produce, write, direct and edit Awaken The Dead as the first in a series of iconic movies from Silver Storm Productions.
His film influences include Stanley Kubrick, Ridley Scott, Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, Luc Besson and Sergio Leone.
