A wise man once said that there aren’t nearly enough movies about giant killer ants, and I tend to agree with him. Okay, so that wise man is me, but apparently filmmaker Ron Carlson agrees. He’s working on a horror… Continue Reading →

Sean Astin, Tom Arnold, Jake Busey and Rhys Coiro are set to star in Ron Carlson's indie horror comedy "Dead Ant" which is currently shooting in Santa Clarita.
The story follows a down on their luck hair metal band that gets a chance for a comeback with an appearance at Coachella. However, the group gets sidelined in the desert and must fight for their lives against giant ants.

Game of Thrones, Season 2, Episode 5: “The Ghost of Harrenhal”
Written by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss
Directed by David Petrarca
Airs Sundays at 9pm Et on HBO
Well, that’s one would-be ruler down. Renly Baratheon dies an ignoble death at the hands of Melisandre’s foul hellspawn very near the beginning of “The Ghost of Harrenhal,” and that moment kickstarts an hour that moves by at a considerably elevated click. There’s significant plot movement on almost every front, as well as a very palpable sense of danger and imminent change.
Renly is dead, which would seem to be a boon to his almost hilariously unsentimental brother Stannis, but his faithful advisor Davos quite sensibly warns him of Melisandre’s ever-growing influence; if “Harrenhal” has a clear throughline, it’s the whole notion of advisement, and the importance of a clear, objective second opinion in the face of monumental decision.

Solid performances and steady direction make “Keith” one to watch. Co-creator of Nickelodeon’s “Blues Clues” show Todd Kessler, a former N.Y. taxi driver turned self-trained filmmaker, turns out a well-drawn, dark romance with a hint of comedy which quickly churns out tension. Kessler’s baby has come a long way – from Miramax back to Kessler and now in our office, and we’re glad it found its way here. Kessler helms, and co-writes the screenplay based on the short story by Ron Carlson, producing alongside him is Rebecca Hobbs. A girl lies at the back of a truck, lifeless. So begins the teasing as the film reveals the ending and leaves one aching for the revelation of what will come.
