David Baddiel's stage version of The Infidel has cast Kev Orkian as its star.
This stage adaptation of Baddiel's 2010 comedy film will feature his lyrics and music by Erran Baron Cohen, who has previously worked on his brother Sacha Baron Cohen's film The Dictator.
Orkian will play Mahmoud Nassir, a Muslim man who discovers that he was adopted and that his birth parents are Jewish. The role was originally played by Omid Djalili in Baddiel's feature film.
Baddiel is directing The Infidel – The Musical with Kerry Michael of Theatre Royal Stratford East.
Orkian will be joined in the musical's cast by Mina Anwar, Andrew Paul, Melanie Masson and Melanie Marshall.
Baddiel said of the stage production: "Despite being released in 43 countries, The Infidel movie, with its message of tolerance through comedy, seems not completely to have fixed Muslim-Jewish relations.
"Luckily The Infidel – The Musical, with its terrific cast,...

Comedian Paul Burling made his return to the Britain’s Got Talent stage tonight for the show’s semi final. Paul impressed the judges at his initial audition with his cartoon impressions and prompted Piers Morgan to say:
“You are the best impressionist we’ve ever seen on Britain’s Got Talent.”
He revealed tonight that he learned his craft at holiday parks all over the country and admitted that he needs to take advantage of the huge opportunity that Bgt has presented to him.
In a routine that included Alan Carr, Phil Mitchell, Harry Hill and Wallace & Gromit, Paul impressed us much more tonight than he did with his first performance. However, it did seem like he got a much longer amount of time than fellow comedian Kev Orkian on last night’s show….we’ll have to get our stopwatches out later.

Britain’s Got Talent reject Kev Orkian appeared on This Morning today and told Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford how difficult it was to continue with his act, after being buzzed by Simon Cowell.
Comedian Kev took the stage for last night’s semi final and performed an ode to Amanda Holden as well as a bit of a gag about stealing Louis Walsh’s passport. Simon buzzed him just as he started his song and on how it felt to hear that so early in his act, Kev said:
“It is very daunting because it’s quite loud and the buzzer makes you jump. In the middle of an act it does kind of put you at an unease. You go ‘oh what am I doing’ and then try to get back into the routine again.”
Ruth asked if he knew who the first buzz was from and Kev...

Britain’s Got More Talent presenter Stephen Mulhern has admitted that he thinks comedian Kev Orkian struggled on the show last night, because he only had two minutes to make the audience laugh.
Kev’s routine went down like a lead balloon on last night’s semi final, Simon Cowell blasted it saying:
“Unfortunately it is a one trick pony act. The act was so corny and so painful to watch and listen to…that’s the truth.”
However Stephen thinks that Kev is a talented comedian, but just needed more time to showcase his talent. He told Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on This Morning:
It just shows sometimes you can get it so right, sometimes it goes wrong and the prime example also last night was Kev the comedian.
The judges didn’t really get it with him but I think that sometimes what they forget is that Kev is a great comedian,...

Two more acts have gone through to the Britain’s Got Talent live final on Saturday.
After impressing Simon Cowell with an amazing human/animal dance routine, dog trainer Tina and her talented canine, Chandi, were the most popular act on the show this evening. They were voted straight through to the final by the public.
In runner-up position were singing doorman Neil Fullard and aspiring boyband Connected. Piers Morgan was unequivocal in his support for the teenage band, but both Amanda Holden and Simon struggled with their choice. Amanda eventually opted for Neil’s crooner stylings while Simon eventually swung the panel in favour of Connected.
Check out the judges comments for all the acts featured in tonight’s show below.

Kev Orkian made his return to the Britain’s Got Talent stage for tonight’s semi final. He’s fresh in our mind, because he was only just featured in last week’s audition show.
Kev impressed the judges at his London audition with his comedy piano routine. After watching his Elton John take on Piers Morgan said: “That was one of the smartest things I’ve seen in a long time.”
After a bit of a gag about stealing Louis Walsh’s British passport (here’s us thinking the X Factor judge was Irish!), Kev sang a love song he wrote especially for Amanda Holden. Simon Cowell buzzed almost as soon as Kev started singing, which seemed to throw him for a second or two….but it didn’t help that Piers buzzed him soon after. Kev tried to keep the act going but the piano solo baffled us...

Britain's Got Talent hopeful Kev Orkian has revealed that he would like to collaborate with Jools Holland. The piano-playing comic, who will appear on this evening's live semi-final, said that he hoped appearing on the ITV show would raise his profile and extend his career. "Ultimately, to be honest, it is about the longevity of what I do. I love being a comic and all-round entertainer, doing the piano, singing and dancing," he told Digital Spy. "I would love to do collaborations with other comics, collaborations with other great pianists like Elton John, Billy Joel and Jools Holland, who would be just the best. That would be ace. "And to do a one-man show and tour would be the ultimate for me. Playing for a live audience every night, hearing that applause - there is nothing quite like it." Orkian, (more)...

Britain's Got Talent semi-finalist Kev Orkian has claimed that the show is a "tough gig" for comedians. The comedy piano player, who will appear on this evening's live show, said that the format of the programme made it hard for stand-ups to win over the judges and audience. "I think the main reason that there has been a lack of comedy acts is that trying to prove yourself in two minutes is a tough ask," he told Digital Spy. "It's a really tough gig. To go out there, establish a character, make people love you, then make people laugh, and finish off with the big gag, standing ovation and applause, all in two minutes, that's like drawing blood out of a stone really. "But hey, one of the reasons I came on this show was for the challenge. If people enjoy it and push me through to Saturday, I will...

Britain’s Got Talent hopeful Kev Orkian has revealed that he will have the backing of the British troops when he performs on tonight’s semi final show.
Kev impressed the judges on last week’s show, with his stuck cd version of Elton John’s ‘I’m Still Standing.’ The Armenian entertainer plays regular free gigs at barracks up and down the UK and is an ardent supporter of the Help for Heroes charity. He plans to fly to Afghanistan as soon as Bgt finishes and told The Sun that the British Forces Foundation have pledged their support to him tonight.
Kev said:
“I have been told by the British Forces Foundation, who I do a lot of fundraising gigs for, that I will have their support.
There are hopefully a few thousand soldiers’ families who are backing me, too.
“I was due to fly to Afghanistan two weeks...

Britain’s Got Talent hopeful Kev Orkian has admitted that if he manages to win the ITV talent extravaganza, he will ask Elton John to perform alongside him on the Royal Variety Show.
Armenian Kev made his TV debut on last night’s Bgt show, when he sang Elton John’s I’m Still Standing – the scratched CD version. The performance impressed the judges and they later allowed him to progress to this week’s live semi finals.
On his dreams for the future, Kev told the Daily Star that he’d love to sing with Elton John someday. He said:
“I think Elton would find it funny. I’d love to get him on board and team up at the Royal Variety Show – that would be incredible.
“But that’s a long way off. I need to win Bgt first.”
Kev also admitted that he often finds it hard...
