Red One #1
Writer: Xavier Dorison
Penciller: Terry Dodson
Inker/Colorist: Rachel Dodson
Publisher: Image Comics
Alongside his work on the current Princess Leia book with Mark Waid, Terry Dodson is once again doing a monthly book, but Red One, originally published as Red Skin by Éditions Glénat Bd in France is more of a passion project. Collaborating with French writer, Xavier Dorison, the Image miniseries is set during the late seventies which “is close to his heart.”
That period brings back a wave of nostalgia with such films as Star Wars, music by the Sex Pistols and tv shows like the Bionic Man, Charlie’s Angels, Wonder Woman, and the Incredible Hulk making a cultural impact. It’s during that era where top Russian agent Vera Yelnikov is dispatched to America to infiltrate and spread communist values, but also to investigate the Carpenter, a serial killer who is murdering liberals across the country,...

French director Julien Mokrani made headlines here at Twitch back in October of 2011 thanks to his Jason Flemyng and Dexter Fletcher starring fan film Welcome To Hoxford. A seriously stylish bit of work, Hoxford was meant to open doors for Mokrani and it's done exactly that with word arriving today that he has teamed with producer Alexandre Aja to direct a live action adaptation of French graphic novel Les Sentinelles.Alexandre Aja and The Ministry of Content have acquired sci-fi cult graphic novel Sentinelles written by Xavier Dorison, drawn by Enrique Breccia and published by Delcourt, for Julien Mokrani to direct. Cinebook are a comics publisher that specialise in European fare. I’ve been lucky enough to receive a handful of their latest titles for review. The selection seems to cover pretty much every genre of boy’s own-style adventure you could think of, from space opera to World War II tales, via pirates and spies, stopping off at Viking and cowboys. Without further ado, let’s dive in.
I began with Sylvain Runberg and Serge Pellé’s Orbital 1. Scars. This is a sci-fi adventure, set in a future where humankind has recently been inducted into a pan-galactic Un-type organisation. Human Caleb and Mezoke of the Sandjarr race are paired together as part of the organisation’s spec-ops-cum-ambassadorial-peace-keeper branch (essentially like the Jedi in the Star Wars prequels), which is contentious due to the two species’ previous conflict. Pellé’s grimy and detailed artwork suggests a fully realised world and Runberg...

I've never seen The Untouchables and I didn't like this film. While the performance of the cast was okay, I just didn't like the idea to have a film that briefly documents what the Mobile Brigade did without much context and explanations. Hopefully, Diane Kruger plays in the film.
In 1907, a new wave (and kind) of crimes becomes part of the France's from the Belle Époque. This is why Georges Clemenceau, the French Minister of the Interior, creates the mobile brigades. However, the public opinion calls them the Tiger Brigades. In Paris, Inspector Constantin must fight a group of anarchists and corrupted civil servants and Constance (Diane Kruger), the wife of a Russian prince, in 1912. As his investigation progresses, Constantin will come to wonder if the signature of the Triple Alliance will contribute to France's national security.
Honestly, many won't have a problem with the fact that Les brigades du tigre...
