The horror TV series Z Nation was produced by The Asylum (a company best known for the Sharknado franchise and mockbusters) and aired on Syfy for five seasons, running for a total of 68 episodes from September 12, 2014 to December 28, 2018. After that show wrapped up, a prequel series called Black Summer ran for two seasons (released in 2019 and 2021) on the Netflix streaming service. If you’ve been wondering when Black Summer is going to return for a third season… well, it looks like it’s not going to, because the folks at What’s on Netflix have confirmed that Netflix quietly “ghost cancelled” the show. But a new post on The Asylum’s X account indicates that Z Nation might be getting a revival! The post promises that a big announcement is coming soon…

Jonathan Majors is making sure to keep his body in shape.
The actor has created quite a stir for his physique in “Creed III,” “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and the Sundance Film Festival favorite “Magazine Dreams.” Majors tells Variety that he’ll work out not once, but twice before the Oscars on Sunday.
“I’m going to get up and go to the gym, have a big breakfast, wash my face and then I’ll really scrub my face because I’ll be presenting tomorrow,” Majors said at the Chanel and Charles Finch pre-Oscar dinner at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Saturday night. “I’ll probably go to the gym twice. My pickup isn’t until four o’clock. It’ll be cool.”
His pre-Oscars breakfast? “I’m staying at this hotel with a really great steak so probably a wagyu steak. Protein is good.

In April 2022, James Corden announced that he would be stepping down from his duties at "The Late Late Show" after hosting the late-night staple since 2015. Many speculated about who would take his spot as the successor to Tom Snyder, Craig Kilborn, and Craig Ferguson in the 12:35 a.m. time slot on CBS' schedule. But as we move closer to Corden's final days on the show, which are scheduled to air in spring 2023, no one has officially emerged as the next host. And it appears that the reason for this is that the network is doing away with the series entirely in favor of a fan-favorite format that debuted a decade ago that was canceled after 600 episodes.

I was lucky enough to chat with both Thomas Jane and Malin Akerman about their upcoming Vampire comedy, Slayers. In this day and age, vampire stories have been told time and time again and rarely do they have any kind of originality. Thankfully, Slayers has a new take on them that makes the rules around them much more interesting. Then there’s Thomas Jane’s Elliot Jones character who may just be my favorite vampire hunter of the last decade and we’ve got the recipe for a fun time at the movies. So join me for my fun conversation with the two actors where we dive into the film.
Slayers synopsis: Kick-butt vampire slayer, Elliot Jones, has one mission to find the vampire who murdered his teenage daughter… but he’ll need the help of social media superstars -The Stream Team. Upon accepting an opportunity to meet reclusive billionaire Beverly Rektor,...

The recent release of television shows like Let the Right One In and Interview with the Vampire, as well as movies like Day Shift and The Invitation, prove that stories about vampires will always be in style. Our obsession with social media like Instagram and TikTok has made it possible for almost anyone with a camera and a platform to become a celebrity, so Influencer culture is also very much in style right now. When you take a group of influencers and force them to battle a vampire syndicate, you have the recipe for a modern horror comedy.
Written by Zack Imbrogno (The Shadow Diaries) and K. Asher Levin, and directed by Levin, Slayers tells the story of a self-proclaimed vampire hunter named Elliot Jones, played by Thomas Jane, who teams up with a clueless, spoiled group of YouTube celebrities who are being targeted by what Elliot describes as the vampire illuminati.

Plot: A vampire slayer targets billionaire bloodsuckers who have lured a group of social media influencers to their remote compound.
Review: Just one month after the theatrical and VOD release of the thriller Dig, which was directed by K. Asher Levin and starred Thomas Jane, we’re getting the theatrical and VOD release of another Levin / Jane collaboration… and this one is quite different from their previous one. The new(er) movie is a horror comedy called Slayers, which finds Jane taking on the role of experienced vampire slayer Elliot Jones. The narration from Jones informs us that vampires have existed since the dawn of time – and humans have been secretly warring against them for thousands of centuries. While Jones has been in the slayer game for a couple decades at this point, he’s just one of the latest slayers in a long line of them, including some major historical figures.

Root Letter’s main story involves a relationship between pan pals. Now, pen pals is an idea that I assume the current younger generation have no idea about, although it’s not a whole lot different to messaging people you may have never met via the Internet. I guess in case some people don’t know ‘pen pals’ are two people that stay in touch and generally become friends via the use of written letters. I think between the ages of about 11 and 13 I had a pen pal who I would eventually meet in person once and we first wrote to each other through the pages of a video game magazine. "It's vamp time." The Avenue has unveiled an official trailer for a film titled Slayers, yet another vampire hunters film out this year (to go along with Day Shift and V for Vengeance). In the indie horror comedy film, a kick ass vampire slayer is out to avenge his daughter, killed viciously by a vampire, and must team up with a superstar influencer content house called 'The Street Team' that will help him take his revenge before the vamp scum can take their necks and bodies. This is a tame red band trailer but they say: "Warning! Not for the faint of heart of those who faint at the sight of blood." This vampire slayers film stars Thomas Jane, Kara Hayward, Jack Donnelly, Lydia Hearst, Malin Akerman, Abigail Breslin. It all looks like a mashup of streaming keywords and every bad idea from the worst movies nowadays thrown into a basket of forgettable vampire fun.

Tony Todd (Candyman), Lydia Hearst (Z Nation), Bai Ling (Red Corner), Teala Dunn (Are We There Yet?), and Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager) have joined the cast of Werewolf Game, an upcoming horror mystery from emerging genre directors, Jackie Payne and Cara Brennan.
Written by Payne, Werewolf Game is based on the party game of social deduction invented by Dimitry Davidoff in 1986. In the film, twelve strangers are kidnapped by a social media company and forced to play a game where they vote on who amongst them to murder.
Todd commented, “My roots as an actor are grounded in theater, which is why my iconic character in Werewolf Game strongly appeals to me, much like Immortal (2020), my first collaboration with Margolies.”
The project hails from Different Duck Films founder Rob Margolies (Bobcat Moretti), who will produce along with Gretel Snyder. Margolies discovered the screenplay and awarded it a production deal,...

In recent years writer/director Daniel Farrands, who penned 1995’s Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers (still a personal favourite in the franchise) has turned his hand to creating films about some of America’s most notorious serial killers – starting with 2018’s The Amityville Murders, following that up with writing and directing The Haunting of Sharon Tate in 2019 and directing The Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson the same year. From Barefoot Kid Productions, Jars Media Group, and Novakovic Brothers Films, the pic is being produced by Rob Simmons, Ante Novakovic, Antony Ware, Greg Scarnici, and Ramsey Heitmann. For the moment, we can put aside how much this project is in bad taste. The Haunting of Sharon Tate takes a tragic real life murder and makes a crappy horror flick out of it. Moreover, it gets supernatural agency to an actual criminal act. All on its own, that would be terrific. Worse, the film itself is almost unwatchable, that’s how bad it is. When a movie does as many things wrong as this one does, you wonder how it got made in the first place? Tasteless in concept, misguided in execution, and an utter bore, this is among the worst that 2019 has produced so far. Seriously, you have no idea how awful this is, and I sincerely hope you never find out. In case the title didn’t spell it out for you, this is a tale of how Sharon Tate (Hilary Duff) met her demise, and of course,...

On the night of August 8, 1969, Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, Wojciech Frykowski, Abigail Folger and Steven Parent were brutally murdered by the Manson Family. It was one of the most shocking and horrifying crimes of the 20th century, a tragedy that still reverberates 50 years later.
And now… there’s a really bad slasher movie about it.
“The Haunting of Sharon Tate” is a ghoulish film that dramatizes these heinous slayings like a particularly tacky pulp thriller, using snippets of documentary footage to remind us that this story is true and deserves more respectful and nuanced treatment than writer-director Daniel Farrands (“The Amityville Murders”) seems able to provide. The lives of Tate, Sebring, Frykowski, Folger and Parent are reduced to stock horror archetypes, trapped in an underwritten and ultimately insulting thriller, with a conclusion that strives for profundity and fails in spectacular fashion.

I have to admit that I was originally skeptical about The Haunting of Sharon Tate. There are just so many pitfalls to making a movie about an event so ingrained in public consciousness as the murder of Sharon Tate and four other people at the hands of Charles Manson’s followers, not the least of which is the potential to turn a real tragedy into exploitative tripe played for jump scares. I soon realized, though, that while The Haunting of Sharon Tate may not be a perfect film, writer/director Daniel Farrands acknowledges that the events of August 9th, 1969 were horrendous, and he reminds the audience of this by creating an atmosphere of dread and melancholy that permeates the film.
After a somber prologue that shows the aftermath of the murders, the film jumps back to show Tate (played by Hilary Duff) and company in the days leading up to the grizzly killings.

Daniel Farrands’ unfathomably bad “The Haunting of Sharon Tate” poses a number of provocative questions. The first is asked by Edgar Allen Poe in a stanza of on-screen text: “Is all that we see or seem but a dream within a dream?” Hmm. The next comes from the film’s casting director, whose name has been omitted from this review in order to protect the under-the-line talent: “What would it look like if the most culturally seismic killings of 1969 were amateurishly dramatized by Lizzie McGuire, Citizen Kane’s great-granddaughter, Lindsay Lohan’s love interest from ‘Mean Girls,’ and a smattering of attractive young actors who look more like ‘Vanderpump Rules’ characters than they do the members of a racist death cult?” And then — spoiler alert! — there’s the question that ties the whole room together: “What if the Manson Family murders were given the ‘Inglourious Basterds’ treatment and re-imagined as...

Hilary Duff's transformation into Sharon Tate in her new film is beyond eerie. In the thriller The Haunting of Sharon Tate, the actress not only adopts the slain actress' look—'60s full body blonde hairstyle, heavy mascara—but her sweet, soft-spoken tone. In a clip from the movie, released on Wednesday, Duff's Tate is heavily pregnant with her and director Roman Polanski's first child together and spends time at home with friends Abigail Folger and Wojciech Frykowski, played by Lydia Hearst and Pawel Szajda, where she is surprised with a new nursery. Her husband is away, working on his new film in London. In 1969, the real Tate was murdered at age 26 by followers...

Not until I did some research, after viewing The Haunting of Sharon Tate, did I realise that 2019 would be the 50th “anniversary’”year of the Tate Murders – a mass murder conducted by members of the Manson family. And this fact is the reason there are several movies this year that feature Charles Manson; including Charlie Says starring Matt Smith as the man and most famously, Quentin Tarantino’s latest movie Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, which will apparently feature Manson in the story.
Also, before watching this movie, I thought it was a bit strange to feature the controversial real life director Roman Polanski and his wife as characters until I realised that this is based on a very true story!
Obviously set in the late 1960’s,...
