The Houston Astros completed a sweep of the New York Yankees to punch a ticket to the World Series on Sunday. Americans love to hate the Yankees, but they may love to hate the Astros even more since the Texas team was busted for cheating in 2017 and 2018. They’re also the favored team of Ted Cruz.
The Trump-loving Republican from Texas was in Yankee Stadium to watch his team eliminate the Yankees, and the New Yorkers in attendance weren’t shy about letting him know how they felt. Here’s...

Vice Media is laying off 55 U.S. staffers and about 100 more internationally as it faces uncertainty due to Covid-19.
The moves, which follow a 10% workforce reduction in early 2019, are the result of a need to shore up the company’s digital business, CEO Nancy Dubuc announced Friday in a memo to employees.
“The reality is that some tough decisions had to be made primarily around our digital teams,” Dubuc wrote in the memo, which was provided to Deadline. “Currently, our digital organization accounts for around 50% of our headcount costs, but only brings in about 21% of our revenue. Looking at our business holistically, this imbalance needed to be addressed for the long-term health of our company.”
Dubuc added that 90% of roles in the digital operation were preserved through various efforts and the group will now be overseen by Jesse Angelo, Amy Emmerich, Cory Haik, and Hosi Simon.

Exclusive: With the impeachment process against President Donald Trump ramping up in Congress, Viceland has added The Impeachment Show to its weekly lineup.
The Vice News-produced hourlong show will explore several angles and developments — and try to surface the humor — in the unfolding and highly partisan procedural saga. It will debut November 7 and will continue to air on Thursday nights on Viceland before appearing Friday mornings on the Vice News YouTube channel. Six initial episodes have been ordered, but given the open-ended nature of the impeachment process itself, an extension is not out of the question.

Vice Media, whose news unit is becoming a bigger presence at the Viceland cable network, has reportedly laid off about 15 people at Viceland.
The workers span the programming, marketing and research departments. The cuts, first reported by the Wall Street Journal, follow the news first reported by Deadline two weeks ago that Vice News Tonight, the flagship show that once gave Vice a daily presence on HBO, is moving to Viceland.
The overall shift from lifestyle programming toward news will allow Vice to streamline operations and trim certain costs.
The company had no comment on the reductions.
In partnership with A+E Networks, one of its major stakeholders, Vice Media rebranded A+E’s H2 network and relaunched it as Viceland in early 2016. It has struggled in the ratings and has faced intensifying headwinds along with other cable programming as viewers pay more attention to mobile devices and social media.

Publishers were coming and going today at two major media outlets.
Tribune Publishing Chief Executive Justin Dearborn stepped down after three years, the newspaper company announced Thursday. Chicago newspaper executive Tim Knight was named CEO. He was formerly president of the company and will also join the Tribune Publishing board.
Board member David Dreier replaces Dearborn as Tribune Publishing chairman. Ross Levinsohn and Mickie Rosen, the CEO and president, respectively, of Tribune Interactive, the digital arm of Tribune Publishing, are also leaving.
Levinsohn joined Tribune Publishing in 2017 as publisher and CEO of The Los Angeles Times, which was owned by Tribune at the time. He was placed on leave in January 2018 after reports surfaced that he was a defendant in two sexual harassment lawsuits while at other media companies.
Levinsohn was reinstated in February 2018 and shifted to a new role as head of Tribune Publishing’s digital business unit.

The New York Post has launched a new entertainment division focused on scripted and unscripted television.
Veteran TV producer Troy Searer has joined the news organization as president of New York Post Entertainment. He will oversee efforts to develop projects for cable, streaming, broadcast and emerging platforms, tapping into the Post’s store of intellectual property and its newsroom resources.
“It’s a real opportunity,” Jesse Angelo, CEO and publisher of the Post, told Variety. “There is so much hunger for original television content for differentiated IP, for storytellers that have voice, and we have those things. We were able to show some success with ‘Page Six TV’ and show that we could swim in these waters, and we wanted to take it to the next level. We have a couple other deals in development, a couple other projects that we’re working on, and I just realized the time...

Page Six TV, the half-hour daily syndicated program focused on pop culture, has upped Bevy Smith, Elizabeth Wagmeister and Carlos Greer to co-hosts for the show’s upcoming second season.
When Page Six TV launched last fall with the Fox O&Os as a core station group, it featured John Fugelsang as host and Smith, Wagmeister and Greer as a panel of “insiders.” After the series was renewed for a second season in January by the Fox station group, it was announced that Fugelsang would not be coming back. Over the past few months, the show tested various guest hosts. It scored best with episodes featuring only Smith, Wagmeister and Greer, which led to the decision to make them co-hosts. The setup of the program is expected to be tweaked, with the trio sitting instead of standing. Page Six Editor Emily Smith and Deputy Editor Ian Mohr will continue as contributors.
