First of all: this volume contains two things, which it does say pretty clearly: the title is The Second Fake Death of Eddie Campbell & The Fate of the Artist , after all. There’s one new book – Campbell dislikes the term “graphic novel,” so I’m going to see if I can consistently avoid it here – and one old book, with somewhat convergent concerns.
The old one is The Fate of the Artist, originally published in 2006, in which “Eddie Campbell” disappears, or maybe is replaced by the actor playing him in this comic. I’m shocked to realize that came out more than a decade and a half ago; time refuses to stand still until I can catch up with it.
The new one is The Second Fake Death of Eddie Campbell, and that comes first here.
Well, let me back up: I read this digitally, so the two books were run together,...

HBO has canceled the historical period drama “Gentleman Jack” after two seasons, TheWrap has confirmed. The series — which drew from landholder and “the first modern lesbian” Anne Lister’s diaries — aired on the network’s lower-viewed Monday nights.
“HBO will not be moving forward with a third season of ‘Gentleman Jack,'” HBO said in a statement. “When we began this journey more than five years ago, we knew the series’ creator Sally Wainwright had a uniquely compelling vision, and it’s been tremendously gratifying to see how Anne Lister’s journey has resonated with viewers. We are incredibly grateful to Sally, to the impeccable Suranne Jones and Sophie Rundle, and to the entire cast and crew for bringing Anne and Ann’s story to life. We’d also like to thank our partners at BBC and Lookout Point for their collaboration on two remarkable seasons.”

HBO's series "The Time Traveler's Wife" has been canceled after one season, according to Variety. The six-episode show starred "Game of Thrones" actor Rose Leslie and "Divergent" actor Theo James as a pair of star-crossed lovers who are kept apart by the same thing that bonds them — James' character's medical inability to stop time travelling.
The series was based on the 2003 novel by Audrey Niffenegger, and largely followed the same plot: librarian Henry (James) suffers from a rare genetic condition that forces him to involuntarily move through time, which both complicates and informs his emotional and romantic relationship with artist Clare (Leslie)....

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Season 1, Episode 6 of The Time Traveler’s Wife.] The first season of HBO‘s The Time Traveler’s Wife has come to an end, and it’s leaving us wondering, will there be more to Clare (Rose Leslie) and Henry’s (Theo James) onscreen love story? Based on Audrey Niffenegger’s best-selling book, this adaptation only delivers part of the couple’s epic story as Season 1 concluded with a bit of a cliffhanger. Instead of the story carrying on beyond Clare and Henry’s wedding, the season concluded with the big event which didn’t play out quite the same as it had in the book. In this version, Henry struggles to keep from traveling through time as wedding planning dials up his stress levels. As he attempts to get the issue under control, he turns to a friend for possible medicinal remedies which backfire as they put Henry in a near-constant state ...

Photo: ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’ Adaptations are in again. Maybe still. Perhaps you’re a fan, perhaps not. You may even be one of those people that categorically prefers the books/original I.P. (intellectual property) to the films/TV shows they are adapted into. Regardless, there's been a swell of these projects lately and we’ve now reached the point where adaptations themselves are being rebooted/remade. Fans of romance, and specifically romance novels, may have dipped into the pages of the 2003 sci-fi tale, ‘The Time Traveler's Wife,’ which also served as the debut release for author Audrey Niffenegger. The story follows Henry and his wife, Clare, as the two attempt to live a happy, loving life together while dealing with Henry’s biological superpower: the ability to drift through time and space – though not at will. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Season 1, Episode 4 of The Time Traveler’s Wife.] When it comes to book-to-television adaptations, it’s not unusual for the series to deviate from its source material a bit. That was the case with The Time Traveler’s Wife‘s fourth episode. In the June 5 installment, viewers got a peek into Clare’s (Rose Leslie) life with her friends Charisse (Natasha Lopez) and Gomez (Desmin Borges). But this iteration saw changes in the dynamic between Clare and Charisse, who were never more than besties in the book by Audrey Niffenegger. While it’s clear that Charisse and Gomez are a couple from early on in the episode, brief flashbacks show how they’ve each been more involved with Clare than the other realizes. First, during a two-year period of time when Clare’s waiting for Henry (Theo James) to drop back into her life, she has a one-night stand with Gomez, which she ...

In the 2009 adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger’s novel “The Time Traveler’s Wife,” the titular time traveler Henry DeTamble explains that it works like gravity, big events pull him in. Opposite him sits the love of his life Clare, who exclaims, “I was a big event.” “So it would seem,” he replies. Written by a Scot, adapted from an American novel, with a US director and two Brits playing Americans in the lead roles, HBO and Sky Atlantic co-production The Time Traveler’s Wife could scarcely be more transatlantic. The six-part time-travel rom-com, written by Steven Moffat based on Audrey Niffenegger’s hit 2003 book, is the story of Henry DeTamble, a Chicago librarian with a fantasy genetic condition that causes him to unexpectedly drop out and into his timeline, disappearing and reappearing in inconvenient times, places and states of undress. Played by Theo James, Henry is the titular time traveller, while his titular wife is Claire Abshire, played here by Rose Leslie (and by Rachel McAdams in the earlier movie.) Here’s where you’ll have seen James and Leslie before.

It can be very awkward meeting your future husband when you know you're fated to marry someone, and he doesn't.
HBO's adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger's best-selling novel, The Time Traveler's Wife, injects humor into the dramatic love story about Henry DeTamble and Claire Abshire. They struggle with Henry's time-traveling issue caused by a genetic anomaly.

Before we delve into Henry and Claire's journey, let's discuss a little background information about how Henry became a time traveler.
His journey began as a child when he traveled back in time to the science museum, and he showed up naked and met his adult self.
He was unaware it was himself, and he looked nervous and excited about stealing clothes to survive.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Season 1, Episode 1 of The Time Traveler’s Wife.] The first chapter of HBO‘s The Time Traveler’s Wife adaptation has officially arrived and with it is an updated onscreen version of star-crossed lovers Clare Abshire (Rose Leslie) and Henry DeTamble (Theo James). The Time Traveler’s Wife Episode 1 Review
The Time Traveler’s Wife, HBO’s new miniseries adaptation based on Audrey Niffenegger’s novel of the same name, is taking full advantage of the extended time serialized television offers in regards to telling a story involving multiple timelines. The opening episode assumes viewers have not read the novel or seen the previous movie adaptation, but it makes the jumps in time easier to follow if you have the background of either or both. This miniseries is not for people who have already made their mind up to hate the premise but it’s for the readers of the novel who wanted more character development from the movie.
Henry DeTamble (Theo James) is the time traveler in the title. His powers of time travel are limited to his actual lifespan, give or take a few years.

In the latest version of the story, based on the 2003 book by Audrey Niffenegger, Theo James (“Divergent”) plays time traveler Henry, and “Game of Thrones” alum Rose Leslie stars as his wife, Claire.
Henry jumps through time multiple times in every episode — and with different aged Henrys crossing paths with different aged Claires, as well as her housemates Gomez (Desmin Borges) and Charisse (Natasha Lopez), who become their best friends, it made for an unusual filming experience and one that took some getting used to for the actors.
“It was definitely tricky,” James told TheWrap, noting that “some days, you would be shooting – it didn’t happen a lot — but some days you will be shooting Claire...

Shows about time travel have enchanted people for over half a century with fare like Doctor Who, Quantum Leap, Outlander, and Timeless.
HBO combines time travel, science-fiction, and romance with its adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger’s 2003 best-selling novel, The Time Traveler’s Wife. It premieres on Sunday, May 15th at 9/8c and will also stream on HBO Max.
I had the chance to view the series ahead of its launch. The HBO version allows Niffenegger’s material to breathe better throughout six episodes, which works for the most part.
The novel and its romantic story about marriage and time travel have captured audiences for almost 20 years. In 2009, a film adaptation starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams.
The Time Traveler’s Wife follows Henry DeTamble (Theo James), who suffers from a genetic anomaly that makes him travel to different points in time.

Rose Leslie already been cast in this six-episode adaptation of The Time Traveler’s Wife before she cracked open the iconic novel by Audrey Niffenegger. The actress was stunned: “I thought it was the most heart-wrenching, powerful love story I had read in a very, very long time.” In Wife, artist Clare Abshire (Leslie) contends with her soulmate Henry DeTamble’s genetic disorder, which makes him involuntarily time-travel — sometimes to Clare’s own childhood. Here, Leslie breaks down the time-plagued couple for us. (Credit: Macall B. Polay/HBO) Tell us how you see Clare. Rose Leslie: From a very early age, her world begins to revolve around Henry. As she grows up, she is constantly juggling two scenarios — who she is when Henry is around and who she is when he’s missing. The adult Clare has this innate belief that she and Henry are meant to be together. She’s...

The Time Traveler's Wife is dealing with some present-day criticism. Theo James and Rose Leslie star in the new HBO Max adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger's 2003 novel about Henry (James), a man with a genetic disorder that causes him to time travel unpredictably and his wife Clare (Leslie) who is forced to adapt to life while he's gone. At certain points of the story Henry travels to the past and spends time with Clare as a child, raising red flags that he groomed her to be his wife. Grooming is the act of building emotional trust and connection with someone in order to later take advantage of the person, often in exploitative and abusive ways. Critics have taken issue with...

We wonder what Jon Snow would think of Kit Harington's freshly shaved face. The actor is known for sporting a mustache and beard, so fans were surprised when he appeared sans facial hair at the New York premiere of The Time Traveler's Wife on May 11. Harington attended the event with his wife and fellow Game of Thrones alum Rose Leslie, who stars in the new HBO adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger's novel. This isn't the first time Harington has embraced a naked face. In fact, he's gone beardless a few times over the years, including in 2019 when he hosted Saturday Night Live and joked, "This is more a kind of prepubescent Jon Snow." But...

Fans of Audrey Niffenegger’s beloved novel The Time Traveler’s Wife, who were most likely stoked when they heard a new adaptation was coming to their television screens, will abhor HBO’s new drama series of the same name. People not familiar with the book…will probably also hate it. A romance for the ages, Henry DeTamble is a dashing librarian plagued by a genetic disorder that makes him involuntarily time travel, often into dangerous situations, and also back to his wife Clare Abshire’s own childhood. From Steven Moffat, most well known for his run of Doctor Who and as the creator of Sherlock, the show makes one baffling decision after another, leaving it entirely unwatchable. From the jump, Theo James (Sanditon) and Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones) are odd choices for Henry and Clare. They both inject their characters with a rough, aggressive quality, subverting what should feel like a sweet love story.

When it comes to “The Time Traveler’s Wife,” what’s old is new. Quite literally.
Audrey Niffenegger’s novel, published in 2003, captured the imagination of a vast readership with its story of a marriage unmoored by a husband’s tendency to skip through time. The widespread swooning made a film adaptation, released in 2009 and starring Eric Bana as time traveler and Rachel McAdams as wife, a foregone conclusion. Now, the franchise reappears in our timeline, with Theo James and Rose Leslie taking on the lead roles in an HBO drama series that keeps Niffenegger’s complicated conceit intact.
Here, James’ Henry and Leslie’s Clare speak at times directly to camera, documentary-style, about the strangeness of their plight: Henry is unstuck in history, vanishing from linear time to pop up at moments of key importance. This is what lends his romance with Clare its sense of destiny, as, in adulthood,...

If the title sounds familiar, there’s a good reason: The Time Traveler’s Wife was not only a 2003 bestseller by Audrey Niffenegger, but it inspired a 2009 movie adaptation starring Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana. That said, forget what you think you know about the story — this new HBO version promises to deliver a fresh take on a heartbreaking love story. The six-episode series stars Theo James as Henry DeTamble, a dashing librarian with a genetic disorder that causes him to time travel unwillingly, disappearing for chunks of time into his past and future; Rose Leslie is his wife, Clare Abshire, who at age 6 meets an adult Henry and develops a friendship with this mysterious older man. It’s only when she encounters him in the present day in her 20s — with him completely oblivious to their connection, as their previous encounters were from his future self — that the two are...

Even before Audrey Niffenegger’s novel “The Time Traveler’s Wife” hit shelves in the autumn of 2003, it was destined for the big screen: Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema picked up the book’s film and television rights before the eventual bestseller and award winner was published. A film adaptation of the romance, starring Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana, was released in 2009 (making over 100 million at the worldwide box office in the process).
