The short, tragic life of Amy Winehouse has been chronicled in a documentary (Asif Kapadia’s Amy), numerous unofficial biographies, memoirs by her father (Amy, My Daughter), her mother (Loving Amy: A Mother’s Story), close friend Tyler James (My Amy: The Life We Shared), podcasts, and even graphic novels. And in the wake of shockingly successful biopics about Queen, Elton John, Mötley Crüe, Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley, and Bob Marley, the only surprising thing about Sam Taylor-Johnson’s Back to Black, which stars Marisa Abela as Winehouse, is that...

Amy Winehouse's Close Friend Tyler James Slams 'Back to Black' Movie Based on the Late Singer's Life
One of Amy Winehouse‘s close friends is reacting to the new movie based on her life.
Last month, the Back to Black movie starring Marisa Abela as the late singer and directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson was released in theaters in the UK.
Following the release, Amy‘s close friend and former housemate Tyler James – who is referenced twice in the movie – explained why he found the movie “triggering” for him.
Keep reading to find out more…Tyler told The Times Magazine that the movie overlooked several aspects of Amy‘s life, including her drug addiction.
“There is this sense of Amy being coherent even when taking drugs, but there was so much suffering,” Tyler shared. “The film avoids the uncomfortable. I didn’t like it, and it was hugely triggering for me.”

Uncork’d Entertainment rolls out a black carpet of death with their new creature feature The Deadly Swarm, which flies onto Digital and On Demand outlets today, April 2nd.
In the tradition of films like The Swarm (1978) and Black Swarm (2007), The Deadly Swarm comes from producer Tyler James.
From writer and director David Gregory (Krampus: The Return), Uncorkd’s The Deadly Swarm follows a group of cash desperate friends who attend a medical trial retreat.
“Lured under false pretenses and run by the suspicious Dr. Feldman, little do they know that the doctor has unwittingly created a race of killer flies, and they are hungry for blood.”
Uncork’d previews, “The Deadly Swarm offers genre enthusiasts good old-fashioned fun with inventive effects. For fans of Gremlins, The Howling, and Critters, it promises a nostalgic yet fresh take on creature horror.” Of course what they don’t mention is that unlike those aforementioned classics,...

Tyler-James has been involved with several projects that have caught our attention in recent months. The filmmaker has produced the films that turn the popular nursery rhymes Mary Had a Little Lamb and Three Blind Mice into horror stories, and directed The Loch Ness Horror. Now a trailer for a new Tyler-James project has arrived online. This one is a creature feature called Monsternado, and you can check out the trailer in the embed above!
Uncork’d Entertainment will be giving Monsternado a digital and DVD release on November 14th.
Tyler-James directed the film from a screenplay by Derek Miller, who previously wrote episodes of Dads in Parks and It’s Pony. This one has the following synopsis: A tornado, infested with prehistoric monsters, has formed in the Bermuda Triangle, and is making its way towards land. Megalodon, Pterodactyls, Giant Octopuses, Crocodiles, and more attack – now the city must fight to survive against these deadly creatures.

Amy Winehouse. Amy Winehouse documentary: 'Heartbreaking' and 'impressive' In an era of disposable pop music, the songs of the late Amy Winehouse feel timeless. Her sound spans the decades: bluesy and jazzy, a little bit punk and a little bit gansta. She was an old soul belting out new school lyrics that were confessional, profane, clever, and withering. She has been compared to Billie Holiday (in more ways than one, alas) and Winehouse herself has noted Sarah Vaughn as an influence. Her phrasing could turn any note into an adventure, bending and stretching it until it made multiple emotional statements. Her voice was both propulsive and brittle with a vibrato that could pound like a jackhammer or purr like Eartha Kitt. And that's to say nothing of her signature look, the beehive hairdo, the tattoos, and the increasingly garish makeup that would eventually hide much more than facial blemishes. Unfortunately,...

You've got to feel a bit sorry for Jermain Jackman. When he was announced as the winner of The Voice 2014 - to much confetti and fanfare - the overwhelming reaction was one of, well, surprise. He wasn't the Digital Spy favourite (Christina Marie). He wasn't the bookies' favourite (Sally Barker). But he was the winner.
Now that the dust has settled a little, though, could Jermain actually be just the winner that The Voice needs? We've heard plenty of slightly mean-spirited snark about how The Voice is yet to produce a star - Leanne Mitchell and Andrea Begley, the first two champions, have so far failed to set the charts alight.
The Voice's future is secure, at least for now - two more series have been ordered by the BBC - but its credibility could begin to be questioned if it doesn't start spinning out successes soon. This is...

Last week, The Voice UK's series one winner stumbled to a chart position outside the top 100. Meanwhile, the show, for a second year in a row, took a big tumble in the ratings after yet more jigging around in the schedules from the BBC. Despite a third series already being recommissioned, things were looking bleak.
But this week, there was a glimmer of hope for The Voice UK. A Belfast girl called Leah McFall is one of the final eight contestants on this year's show. And whisper it quietly, but she could possibly, maybe, be a star in the making.
She looks likely to achieve the show's first ever Top 10 single with her cover of 'I Will Survive' this weekend, pop production powerhouse will.i.am is in love with her and she oozes cool. So could she save the reality show's bacon?

The Voice UK winner Leanne Mitchell has hit back at claims that she is making her living from performing at birthday parties.
It was reported earlier today that Mitchell had told The Sun that she has performed at parties but has "no big performances planned at present".
However, the singer took to Twitter to deny the claims, saying that she will not "keep defending" herself about her career since winning the BBC singing show.
She said: "Ok, just to clear things up... I haven't actually sang at Any 'birthday parties'..?! I haven't been out 'gigging' as I wanted to 100% focus on writing my album.
"However, I did perform in front of Prince Harry last year, does that count as a 'birthday party'??

Bo Bruce undoubtably made an impression on viewers of 'The Voice' last year.
The waif-like singer, with Danny O'Donaghue coaching her, made it to the finals of the first UK series of the contest, impressing fans with her distinctive sound, simultaneously fragile but rocky, on tracks including 'Without You', 'Charlie Brown' and 'Read All About It'.
Bo Bruce could emerge the real victor of The Voice, with a new single and album on their way
And viewers were also moved as she continued to take part, despite the fading health of her mother. As she was brought to tears in some of her rehearsals, viewers heard Danny comfort her, realising, "This is hard for you, isn't it?" Bo's mother has since died.

Tyler James has admitted that his loved ones "fully expected" him to succumb to his past substance abuse problems following the death of best friend Amy Winehouse. The Voice UK contestant has been sober for five years following a stint in rehab, but struggled not to "go under" when 27-year-old Winehouse was found dead from alcohol poisoning in July 2011. The winner of this year’s Voice UK contest is Leanne Mitchell, the big-voiced crooner who was one of her team mentor Sir Tom Jones’ favourites from the start.
This was a surprise to everyone, not least the singer herself, after the joint favourites going into the weekend's show had been Bo Bruce and Tyler James.
But Leanne did her coach proud with It’s A Man’s World and then matched him octave for octave on their duet Mama Told Me Not To Come.

The Voice UK coach will.i.am has claimed that Cheryl Cole has a "sense" for music. The Black Eyed Peas star, who is mentor and friend to the 'Call My Name' singer, said he is pleased that Cole has spoken highly of his remaining Voice act Tyler James, as she has the ability to sniff out "the next big thing" in music. "She thinks Tyler is the favourite," will.i.am told journalists including Digital Spy. "One thing about Cheryl is she has an ear and she knows what's coming. "She knows exactly the next big thing. I play her the [Black Eyed Peas] record and she'd be like, 'That's your single' and she's been spot on each time. "She called 'I Got A Feeling', she called 'Boom Boom Pow'. And she called Tyler. She knows, she has that sense." James himself also (more)...

The Voice UK finalist Tyler James has said that his friend the late Amy Winehouse would have loved to be a coach on the show. The last remaining member of Team will.i.am claimed that the 'Love is a Losing Game' singer, who died in July 2011 aged 27, had a lot of respect for contestants on TV talent shows. "I think originally if I'd told her I was going for [The Voice] she'd have thought I was mental," James told journalists including Digital Spy. "She had the same kind of view that I had of shows like this, which is 'How do people do it... get up and sing and be judged in that way and voted for?' I don't know how I'm doing it. "I think maybe [she'd do] something like this, yeah. Amy's the kind of person if someone can sing she's got all the time in the world for them.

Tyler James has said that appearing in The Voice UK has changed his life for the better. The singer reached the final of the BBC One talent show on Saturday, ahead of fellow Team will.i.am member Jaz Ellington. He explained that he would often damage his body with his alcohol intake, but that the show has helped improve his life. "I've gone from drinking myself into a coma into the happiest man alive," he told The Sun. He added that hearing that he had made the final has given him fresh hope that he will not suffer the same kind of fate of his close friend Amy Winehouse. "I welled up. Just to know that the public had picked me to be in the final was the most amazing feeling in the world. "I feel like I'm exaggerating when I talk about it but it's changed my life.
