After the March 28 friends, family, and industry screening for Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis” at Universal’s CityWalk AMC in IMAX, reactions were wild. Some said it was his most ambitious film since “Apocalypse Now;” another described it to Puck as “batshit crazy.” Made for $120 million and bankrolled entirely by Coppola through the sale of one of his vineyards, it incorporates new VFX techniques — ones, the filmmakers hope, will be seen on the biggest screens possible.
For that to happen, it will need a major theatrical deal and the filmmakers are now in talks with distributors and major studios. However, those entities have been particularly risk averse these days — and while Coppola is a legend, he hasn’t made a commercial success in three decades.
The film’s stars include Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, and Giancarlo Esposito; maybe, say, Paramount or Universal want to be back in the Coppola business.

Former Nickelodeon star Allie Dimeco recently posted a TikTok video in which she claimed she was once forced to kiss an older male on the set of “The Naked Brothers Band,” in which she starred as Rosalina. The series, created by Polly Draper, used the mockumentary format and starred Nat Wolff and Alex Wolff as fictionalized members of a family rock band. Rosalina was Nat’s love interest on the show, but their relationship hit a speed bump in Season 3 when she had a quick fling with a French man (Jake Hertzog).
Dimeco told her followers that she had been “stressed” while watching “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” the buzzy ID Discovery documentary about abuse allegations at Nickelodeon, and said “I went through trauma” of her own during her time at Nickelodeon.

Starring Lucy Hale and Nat Wolff in the lead roles, the 204 romantic comedy film, Which Brings Me To You, delves into the idea that our existence and love life are a fusion of all our past experiences. Every single one of these experiences has a significant impact on us, especially in our romantic lives. Whether it is in a good or a bad way, however, is quite uncertain, but like all rom-com movies, Which Brings Me To You explores a rather hopeful outlook for the future. This movie unfolds with a balance of humor, heart, drama, self-discovery, and—er, cheese, painting an obvious picture of optimism. The kind of senseless romance you would watch after a heartbreak (scoff!).
Which Brings Me To You explores the intertwining stories of Jane and Will, who cross paths at a wedding. Following an instant connection, they decide to indulge in a seemingly meaningless sexual encounter in a coatroom,...

Lucy Hale and Nat Wolff are relatable and startlingly easy on the eye in this likable tale that’s carrying slightly too much plot luggage
The maxim “expect little, forgive much” is apparently how to approach marriage; it may be a little depressing in real life, but it’s not a bad rule for movie romcoms, a genre in which, for whatever reason, the bar is extraordinarily low. For every His Girl Friday or When Harry Met Sally or Four Weddings, there are thousands of direct-to-streaming timewasters; if the films’ frequent lesson is that you’ll have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince, it also applies to the films themselves.
Happily, this will-they-won’t-they between two adorable wedding guests (Lucy Hale and Nat Wolff) may not feature an actual prince, he’s closer to a handsome dude in a crown than a lil fella on a lily-pad; by romcom standards,...

"You run out on every guy you've ever been with!" Decal Releasing has unveiled the trailer for a romantic comedy called Which Brings Me To You, arriving in theaters in January 2024 next month. It's from the same filmmaker who previously made the romcoms Then Came You and The Hating Game, and this one will probably be just like those two. Lucy Hale and Nat Wolff star in this hilarious tale of love and disaster. Two romantic burnouts meet at a wedding and almost hook up in the coatroom before putting the brakes on. They agree to exchange candid confessions about their pasts on the off chance that this might be the real thing. "Trading candid confessions of messy histories and heartbreak" - revisiting their own "past lives" on screen. The film's supporting cast includes John Gallagher Jr., Ward Horton, Genevieve Angelson, Alexander Hodge, Britne Oldford, Marceline Hugot, and Laura Kai Chen.

In 2013, writer-director Dan Krauss decided to make a documentary about the Maywand district murders during the war in Afghanistan. The atrocity had taken place during the early months of 2010, wherein a group of U.S. Army soldiers — who called themselves The Kill Team — murdered three Afghan civilians in cold blood and claimed the mutilated body parts as trophies. Krauss' documentary, titled "The Kill Team," dives into the psychological makeup of soldiers at war, the specific socio-cultural factors that contribute to callous aggression and violence, and how this brand of sociopathy culminates in tragedies like Mayward.
The documentary is, first and foremost, an exposé of the rot that grips young military men, who often delude themselves into feeling invulnerable while committing heinous crimes. However, not everyone in the platoon responsible for the Maywand murders was willing to cover up the crimes, including 21-year-old Adam Winfield, who informed his father of the first murder,...

Netflix's track record with producing live-action anime is mixed, at best. The streamer's "One Piece" series has already been renewed, but the live-action "Cowboy Bebop" was a swiftly-canceled mess.
Their most infamous project, however, is probably "Death Note." This story, first told by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata in a mega-popular manga, focuses on the Japanese teenager Light Yagami. One day, a notebook falls from the sky into Light's lap. Dropped by a Shinigami (a Japanese death god) named Ryuk, the "death note" will kill anyone whose name is written on its pages. Light decides to purge the world of evil by using the Death Note to kill high-profile criminals, becoming a serial killer himself in the process. Dubbed "Kira" (a Japanese pronunciation of "Killer"), he gains allies (deludedly loyal pop idol Misa Amane) and adversaries (eccentric master detective L).
This 2017 film, directed by Adam Wingard, transposed this story to Seattle.

Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff are officially in it for the long haul. The pair married Aug. 19, a little over a year after announcing their engagement in May 2022. But the music producer isn't the first public figure Qualley has dated over the years. She was once in a relationship with Nat Wolff, and she and Pete Davidson also dated at one point. Qualley's mom, Andie MacDowell, even gave Davidson her stamp of approval at the time.
Just like she's taken her relationship status to the next level, Qualley's professional life has also blossomed over the past few years. Early roles in "Palo Alto" and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" helped kickstart her career, and she received an Emmy nomination in 2022 for her performance in "Maid." This May, she starred as a dominatrix in "Sanctuary" alongside Christopher Abbott, and in 2024 she'll star with Geraldine Viswanathan, Beanie Feldstein, and Pedro Pascal in the film "Drive-Away Dolls.

Let me start by saying I am not now, nor have I ever been a fan of Rwby, an American anime series that has been chugging along since its debut in 2013. For the last few years, producer Rooster Teeth has managed to partner with DC Comics for crossovers between the warriors, trained and dedicated to protecting the world of Remnant from Grimms, actual monsters.
I suppose it was inevitable that the comics crossovers would eventually find their way to the animated world where Rwby enjoys its fame. So, released recently is Justice League x Rwby: Super Heroes & Huntsmen, Part One, available as a 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray/Digital HD combo pack from Warner Home Entertainment.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Consulant, Season 1.] The Consultant really takes the boss from hell metaphor and turns it on its head as Christoph Waltz‘s Regus Patoff looms over a video game company in crisis following the shocking death of their leader Sang (Brian Yoon). Among his underlings is programmer Craig (Nat Wolff) who is at first lured in by the promises Patoff delivers like developing his game for the company and bringing him to fancy parties. But as peculiarities make themselves known, Craig grows consumed with the need to uncover the truth behind this mystery man who one day walked into their office and assumed control. Through his searching, Craig discovers that Patoff may not be entirely human (uncovering a golden skeleton theory that’s seemingly proven in the finale) and in turn, Patoff begins to covet the professional talents of Craig’s fiancee Patti (Aimee Carrero). By the end of the season, Craig confronts...

And “The Last of Us” is nearing the end of its world-conquering Season 1 run. This Sunday’s episode is one of the season’s best. But our top pick for an awards-contending show to stream this weekend is a sports docuseries that’s entering long-running institution territory, as far as streaming shows go.

Nat Wolff has been really famous a couple of times. The first was in 2007, when his show The Naked Brothers Band (based on his real-life musical group) became Nickelodeon’s most popular kids’ series — that was the kind of fame that got him bullied at his New York City middle school. Then, in 2015, he led Paper Towns, the big-screen adaptation of John Green’s blockbuster YA novel — that was the screaming-teen-girls-following-you-on-a-global-press-tour variety.
Now he’s preparing for the release of a series that features his first starring TV role — and a run alongside Parker Posey and Hari Nef in an off-Broadway adaptation of The Seagull/Woodstock, NY — and feeling further from those days than ever. “A couple of girls followed me home from rehearsals the other day, and it made me realize I barely think about being a child star,” says the 28-year-old over late-morning shrimp tacos in Times Square.

His first series since Apple TV+’s Servant, Tony Basgallop’s Amazon show The Consultant confirms his place as a writer with no interest in choosing a lane.
Like Servant, The Consultant is a chamber piece of escalating creepiness — part horror, part satire — capable of occasionally getting under your skin and occasionally making you laugh, but never really committing to one tone or narrative hook for very long. And The Consultant is, like Servant, a format-defying half-hour dramedy that, ideally, could have been a feature or possibly even an episode of a suspense anthology; it’s perplexingly rushed at times and oppressively elongated at others.
The hook of The Consultant is sure to be Christoph Waltz, delivering a compulsively watchable performance that falls right into the Oscar winner’s comfort zone of seductive weirdness that is alternately reptilian and lupine. It’s to Waltz’s credit that the sort of...

Christoph Waltz, whose glower and verbosity have won him two Academy Awards, surfaces now on Amazon Prime Video as a malign expert in business and in manipulation. After a tragedy involving the founder of the app gaming outfit CompWare (the name may give a sense of how carefully the script is written), Waltz’s Regus Patoff enters to right the ship. His claim on the company is unclear to its employees, but soon enough, he’s occupying close to all of their mental real estate, calling them at all hours and asking invasive personal questions that some force of charisma or of mind control makes them feel compelled to answer.

Review: Fans of horror fiction are familiar with author Bentley Little, but mainstream audiences are not. The prolific author has published over twenty-five novels. Only one of his short stories have been adapted on screen (“The Washingtonians” was an episode of the anthology series Masters of Horror). Now, his 2016 novel The Consultant has become a Prime Video series from the creative team of Tony Basgallop (AppleTV+ series Servant) and director Matt Shakman (WandaVision). Prime Video has become one of the more underrated streamers when compared to Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, and its other competitors. While Amazon’s streamer boasts big titles like The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and The Boys, it does, however, lack the abundance of content that the other major players in the streaming game possess. Prime Video isn’t lacking in originality, though. When it does release a new series, you can expect it will typically be able to carve out a niche in its genre of choice.

Few actors have become as synonymous with malicious businesspeople as Christoph Waltz. After his Oscar-winning turns in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained, Waltz has played dastardly villains of all sorts in everything from James Bond films to the recent small-screen remake of The Most Dangerous Game. In a slightly different role, Waltz portrays a different sort of bad guy in the new Prime Video series The Consultant. Based on the novel by Bentley Little, The Consultant is a series ideally suited for Waltz’s signature style while also blending elements from the other creative members of the team on this project.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the office, meet what may be TV’s true boss from hell in the darkly comic thriller, The Consultant. (Credit: Prime Video) Lining up the staff to sniff them each because he senses someone doesn’t smell right? Calling a worker into the office…at 3am? That’s not in any employee handbook we know of. Did Christoph Waltz freak you out in "Inglorious Basterds?" He has the creepy smile thing absolutely mastered, and we're about to see it again in the upcoming Prime Video series, "The Consultant." In the show, Waltz plays Regus Patoff, a consultant who comes into a huge mobile video game company called CompWare after the CEO shoots himself. He's not exactly a comforting presence, sniffing employees to decide if they stay at the company and trimming his nose hairs in the office. I apologize if you were eating when you read that.
The earlier trailer was upsetting enough, but this one is even more unnerving. The show was created by Tony Basgallop and is directed by Matt Shakman. Shakman's style is all over this trailer, which feels at points as though you're supposed to laugh when things are looking rather murder-y. It's like the camera has very good comic timing yet...

"I won't be here forever... I'm only the consultant." Such a sly bastard, he seems so evil. Don't want to ever encounter this schmuck in real life. Amazon has revealed the official trailer for the series The Consultant, streaming on Prime Video later in February. Based on the book of the same name, The Consultant stars Christoph Waltz as Mr. Patoff, a mysterious business "consultant" who takes over running a mobile game company known as CompWare. "Management has decided to go in a sinister direction." Another description says it's about the "relationship between employee and boss – asking how far we will go to get ahead, and to survive," though it seems about something much more dark and freaky. This series also stars Nat Wolff, Brittany O'Grady, and Aimee Carrero. This looks damn good, but it also seems like a story that would fit better in a film (ala The Menu) than a series.

In “The Consultant,” Christoph Waltz’s Regus Patoff is a pandemic-era corporate worker’s nightmare.
“For those who work remotely, you have one hour to get here, or you’ll be terminated,” he says in a trailer for the dark comedy-thriller series exclusively obtained by Variety.
The series, which premieres on Feb. 24, explores the sinister relationship between boss and employee. When Patoff is hired as a consultant to improve the business at the app-based gaming company CompWare, employees experience new demands and challenges that put everything into question, including their lives. The cast also includes Nat Wolff as Craig, Brittany O’Grady as Elaine and Aimee Carrero as Patti.
The trailer reveals that Patoff’s hiring at CompWare comes after the bloody death of the CEO inside his office — and that his resume includes consulting for a company whose CEO died just two weeks after bringing Patoff onto his team.
