This wayside sequel in the Frankenstein canon may not hold a candle to the classics that came before it, but Son of Frankenstein still holds a special place in the pantheon of Horror. Not only is this probably responsible for every cool set in every Tim Burton movie, but the movie also introduced the world to Igor (played by Bela Lugosi). Join ussss as we discuss the sassiest side character of all time, break down the baddest dad the world has ever known, and salute Boris Karloff in his final appearance as The Monster.

Plot: It tells the story of teenage anti-hero, Vicaria, who is on a desperate quest to cure death.
Review: Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is one of the greatest stories ever told so it’s no surprise to see it adapted in so many different ways. Whether it’s Sundance’s Birth/Rebirth or the Emma Stone-starring Poor Things, there’s clearly so much more to these tales than just “raising the dead.” And The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster is no different, providing biting social commentary, a unique twist on the story, and some truly wonderful performances.
Vicaria’s (Laya DeLeon Hayes) obsession with death may start out personal, with the death of her family members being her launching point. But it’s more than that, with her taking a deep look at the dissolution of her neighborhood, which further motivates her. Hayes is absolutely phenomenal in the role...

Melissa Barrera is firmly establishing herself as a modern scream queen. Not only has she played Samantha Carpenter in both Scream (2022) and Scream VI, but she has also starred in the supernatural horror movie Bed Rest and the survival thriller Keep Breathing, and coming up she has the “erotic nightmare” The One and the Radio Silence project formerly known as Dracula’s Daughter. She also recently finished working on a project called Your Monster, which she describes as a “horror rom-com musical”.
The feature directorial debut of Caroline Lindy, who wrote the film based on her 2019 short of the same name, Your Monster centers on an aspiring actress Laura Franco, whose life falls apart after a cancer diagnosis and devastating breakup. The soft-spoken actress finds her voice again when she meets a terrifying, yet weirdly charming Monster living in her closet.
Barrera plays Laura Franco, with Tommy Dewey (Casual) as the monster.

For the first eight seasons of “The Masked Singer,” if a contestant didn’t receive enough votes to qualify for the next round, they would be forced to unmask and reveal their true identity in front of America. Season 9, however, introduced a new twist known as the “Ding Dong Keep It On” Bell. This allowed the panelists to save an eliminated singer by ringing a bell. During the April 26 episode, saved contestants Medusa, Gargoyle and Mantis competed to make history on “The Masked Singer” and be the first person ever to re-enter the competition, and Medusa prevailed.
Medusa’s triumph wasn’t much of a surprise. After all, the audience went absolutely crazy after she belted out “Mercy” on Wednesday’s show. “I felt very emotional just singing this song, and to have this reaction, I’m gonna replay this in my mind forever,” she stated through tears.

Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on the show!
Match #1: Damian Priest & Finn Bálor def. Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Although Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar went on a major offensive on Finn Bálor, they didn’t realize that Damian Priest had tagged in. As a result, Priest hurled Mysterio into the ring post before hitting Santos with South of Heaven for the three-count.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Braun Strowman & Ricochet def. The Viking Raiders The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Following a brutal backstage attack by Erik and Ivar last week, Braun Strowman and Ricochet repelled The Raid when The One and Only hit an Elevated Swanton Bomb off the massive shoulders of The Monster of All Monsters for the tag team victory.

Following in the wake of dolls based on The Shining, Stephen King’s It, Beetlejuice, Gremlins 2, and Elvira, two more horror icons are joining Mattel’s “Monster High” collection.
Officially teased by the brand today, Chucky and Tiffany from Bride of Chucky are getting their own Monster High dolls, and they’re going up for grabs on May 1, 2023.
The dolls are part of the “Monster High” brand’s “Skullector” line, which releases limited edition dolls that you probably want to snatch up the second they’re available.
Stay tuned for more images of the Chucky and Tiffany dolls in the coming days.
The standard line of Monster High dolls depicts the daughters of classic monsters, and Mattel has only more recently started turning modern horror icons into collectible dolls.
Who’s next? It seems anything is possible at this point!

The four panelists on “The Masked Singer” are hitting their heads against stone concrete trying to figure out the identity of the secret celebrity hiding inside the Gargoyle costume. The winged creature performed Charlie Puth‘s “One Call Away” during the fourth episode of Season 9 and was saved at the last moment by the “Ding Dong Keep It On” Bell. That means we’ll all have to wait a bit longer to find out who he really is. Do You have any ideas? Read on for the judges’ “The Masked Singer” Gargoyle guesses.

The anticipation is running high at the Cannes Film Festival’s packed annual press conference on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, where festival chief Thierry Fremaux is expected to unveil the bulk of the Official Selection for the 76th edition.
The festival has been teasing cinephiles with splashy announcements about Martin Scorsese returning to the Croisette with “Killers of the Flower Moon,” 38 years after winning best director with “After Hour,” as well as Disney’s “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” and Pedro Almodóvar’s short film, “Strange Way of Life.”
But Fremaux, who is leading the presser with the festival’s new president Iris Knobloch, is expected to have saved a few high-profile surprises, including Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City,” starring an ensemble cast that includes Tom Hanks, Margot Robbie, Scarlett Johansson and Tilda Swinton; Todd Haynes’ “May December” with Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore; Karim Aïnouz’s Henry VIII...

Ever since The Masked Singer‘s U.S. debut in 2019, many fans have become skilled at quickly and correctly predicting who is behind the masks. The panelists … not so much. Ken Jeong has gained a reputation as the worst guesser with his out-there and often incorrect predictions. Robin Thicke has gotten it right many times, but he’s also guessed incorrectly on several occasions. Even Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger, who won Golden Ear trophies for the most accurate guesses, have been stumped. Here are The Masked Singer panelists’ worst guesses of all time.
Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Nicole Scherzinger on ‘The Masked Singer’ | Michael Becker/Fox Shaun White as Robot
In Robin’s defense, Robot’s clues were vague when he made his debut in the season 3 premiere. The panelist thought Robot’s story of toughness and determination meant he was an athlete. However, we...

For the first time ever, Fox’s “The Masked Singer” is airing a “second chance” episode that will give three eliminated singers the shot at reentering the competition. Medusa, Gargoyle and Mantis each lost the audience vote during their initial rounds, but were saved by panelists Nicole Scherzinger, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke thanks to the all-new “Ding Dong Keep It On” Bell. Who do You want to return to the competition: Medusa, Gargoyle or Mantis? Vote in our poll below.

The panelists on “The Masked Singer” are blowing hot air as they try to figure out the identity of the secret celebrity hiding inside the Dandelion costume. The silver-tufted weed performed “Over the Rainbow” during the eighth episode of Season 9 and received more votes than Doll and Mantis, which means we’ll all have to wait a bit longer to find out who she really is. Do You have any ideas? Read on for the judges’ “The Masked Singer” Dandelion guesses.
“These heels were made for performing: TV, movies, concerts and even charting next to Olivia Rodrigo,” Dandelion announced after a “billboards” clue was presented on the big stage alongside Dorothy’s red slippers from “The Wizard of Oz.” Time to start the guessing game!
The “billboards” clue prompted Nicole Scherzinger to surmise, “I feel like this could be Zooey Deschanel.” The audience nodded in agreement, with Nicole adding, “You all know she can sing.

Not letting the success of Ape vs Monster go to waste The Asylum is back with Ape vs. Mecha Ape. This time they’ve brought in Marc Gottlieb to write and direct. While it’s only his second feature, the other was Cousin Howard back in 1995, and the first one for The Asylum he’s written several scripts for them including Jungle Run, 2025 Armageddon, and Aquarium of the Dead. Can he kick the franchise into gear after its dismal first film?
Ape vs. Mecha Ape opens with a chemical weapons plant that looks like an old warehouse being attacked by what looks like the giant ape Abraham. A few explosions later we see that it’s actually a giant, well-armed, robot which makes short work of the plant’s security.

Paramount, the studio whose Scream VI is currently scaring up the box office, continues to bet on horror, picking up spec package He’ll Come Knocking.
Patrick Brice, who last directed the thriller There’s Someone Inside Your House, is on board to direct the feature project, which is written by Jordan Goldberg and Alex Paraskevas.
Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey’s Temple Hill Entertainment, which was behind the surprise horror hit Smile for the studio, is producing Knocking.
Adapting a story by author Robert McCammon, Knocking tells of an ex-con who gets a new job in a revitalized factory town in the hopes of turning around his family’s life, only to soon discover that their idyllic suburban dream requires a terrible sacrifice.
Sources describe the project as being in the tone of the fight-for-your-life survival aspects of such movies as Ready or Not, The Purge and Squid Game.

Cocaine Bear (read our review Here) screenwriter Jimmy Warden has said that he has ideas for multiple sequels to the film, and some movie-goers have already let it be known that they’re hoping and waiting for a movie that would be called Cocaine Shark. But while we wait to see if Cocaine Bear is going to spawn a franchise, the mockbuster masters at The Asylum have unveiled a poster of the mockbuster they have made to cash in on the Cocaine Bear hype: a movie called Attack of the Meth Gator! An exact release date hasn’t been announced, but we can expect to see Attack of the Meth Gator sometime this summer.
We can only assume that Attack of the Meth Gator is going to be about an alligator going on a killing spree after consuming meth, much like Cocaine Bear is about a bear going on a killing spree after consuming cocaine.
