Jon Hamm has a new role: He plays an emotionally unavailable boyfriend in singer Leslie Stevens’ new music video for “Blue Roses.”
The clip, released Friday, features Hamm in a cowboy hat and denim shirt, as he hands Stevens blue roses and she sings the lyrics, “Go ahead and take another little piece of my heart/I’ll give it to you as a fall apart.” The bluesy rock-pop track features the hook, “All I get from you are blue roses.”
The Emmy-winning actor even hijacks Stevens’ microphone during her live performance and replaces it with blue roses in the video, directed by Paige Stark of the rock band Tashaki Miyaki.
“I love a music video, and when it’s for a good song it’s even better” says Hamm, whose other music video credits include Eeels’ “Are We Alright Again,” Aimee Mann’s “Labrador,” The Lonely Island and Rihanna...

On Night 2 of The Voice’s Playoffs, it was Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani’s teams that were whittled down from six apiece to just three. And though Reba struggled mightily as she decided which contestants to cut, she still had an (unfortunate) advantage over Gwen: One of Reba’s contestants, Tom Nitti, had dropped out of the sing-off for personal reasons, we learned. Who else wouldn’t be performing on the show again? Read on…

A top executive at Hipgnosis Songs — the company that helped drive the music industry’s copyright acquisition boom while buying catalogs from stars like Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake and the Red Hot Chili Peppers — has been accused of sexual assault, according to a new lawsuit filed in Los Angeles and obtained by Rolling Stone.
A former colleague of Kenny MacPherson, the CEO of Hipgnosis’s publishing arm Hipgnosis Songs Group, sued MacPherson on Wednesday, when he was president of music publishing company Chrysalis. (Hipgnosis is not named as a defendant in the suit.

Corey Taylor has released his sophomore solo album, CMF2
The album sees the Slipknot frontman, who graces our latest Consequence Cover Story, surrounded by a cast of musicians he also calls his pals: bassist Eliot Lorango, drummer Dustin Robert, and guitarists Zach Throne and Christian Martucci.
Taylor and company worked alongside producer Jay Ruston on a set of songs that traverses the singer’s musical background. There’s grungy Alice in Chains nods like “Dead Flies,” fast punk rock (with guitarwork from Taylor himself) on “Talk Sick”, heavy alternative metal (“Beyond”) and references to his acoustic/folk influences like Ani Difranco and Ray Lamontagne (“Breath of Fresh Smoke”).
Notably the album was recorded using an old-school, hands-on approach that eschewed the use of heavy post-production and digital plugins. Rather, the songs were tracked live with some overdubbing, giving the LP a raw and live sound that is becoming more infrequent in modern hard rock.

It’s early Saturday evening and contemporary bluesman Cedric Burnside — the grandson of the great R.L. Burnside — is sitting on a large rock along the banks of the French Broad River. A hot mid-summer sun falls behind the Blue Ridge Mountains cradling his current location in Asheville, North Carolina.
“It’s something I grew up with — grew up playing and grew up living,” Burnside tells Rolling Stone of his blues lineage. “R.L. Burnside opened the door for our family and other great musicians who love the Hill Country blues...

An old video has surfaced where actress Sandra Bullock and her late boyfriend Bryan Randall can be seen dancing the night away back in 2017 and exchanging their vows in Bahamas. Sandra Bullock and Bryan Randall never married but were nonetheless very close as Sandra Bullock had called her late boyfriend the love of her life, before he passed away from Als (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) on August 8, 2023 at the age of 57.
In the video obtained by the Entertainment Portal, the couple can be seen dancing the night away in the moonlight in Bahamas to the tune of Ray Lamontagne’s ‘Shelter’, with Bullock donning a blue and white printed kaftan and flip flops, while Randall wore a white button-up shirt, dark-colored trousers that were rolled up at the ankle flip flops and wearing a stylish black baseball cap.

In Netflix's thriller series "Beef," Steven Yeun plays Danny Cho, a struggling contractor who feels responsible for the failure of his parents' motel. In the very first episode, he gets into a road rage incident with Amy Lau (played by Ali Wong), a successful and wealthy businessperson who can't help but feel a lot of ennui about her life. It sets them both on a course toward mutual destruction, changing their lives and the lives of everyone they know forever.
During the series, Danny joins a Korean church in Orange County where the pastor is the husband of his ex-girlfriend. At first, Danny's involvement seems pretty self-interested, but he's taken aback by the emotional response he has to the service and the music there. Later in the series, during episode seven, he even becomes a singer in the church's praise band, too, performing "Amazing Grace" for the congregation. Danny...

Few country songs have had the success of Lady A’s classic 2009 hit “Need You Now.” The song was a massive hit at its time, peaking at number-two on the Billboard Hot 100 and becoming one of the most digitally downloaded songs ever. Its success translated into four Grammy wins, including Record and Song of the Year. However, no other country song has won the top categories since, despite hits like Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant to Be,” Gabby Barrett’s “I Hope,” Sam Hunt’s “Body Like A Back Road,” and Dan and Shay’s “Tequila” being nearly as successful in recent years. What made “Need You Now” beat the odds for its win, and when can we expect another country song to take top honors?
First things first, we need to look at country’s history in Record and Song of the Year. Five country songs...

Are you ready to feel like you're walking on sunshine? Nearly 13 years after the release of their last studio album Insomniatic, Aly & Aj are back with new music! The sisters announced their upcoming album in a TikTok video set to the tune of "Potential Breakup Song" on Oct. 29, and we've been psyched ever since. In an interview with Popsugar, Aly & Aj shared details about the untitled album - which they describe as the embodiment of "California, sisterhood, and optimism" - experimenting with new sounds, and carrying good vibes into the new year.
"The feel of this record is just feel good. It's a very West Coast album," Aly said, mentioning that she and Aj spent most of their childhoods growing up in the San Fernando Valley. The “American Idol” finale on Sunday will open with the Top 7 reduced to the five finalists. We are predicting that Julia Gargano and Louis Knight will be eliminated. But which of the Top 5 — Arthur Gunn, Dillon James, Just Sam, Francisco Martin and Jonny West. — will win?
We’ve been surveying viewers all season long. In our exclusive “American Idol” winner predictions, Arthur Gunn remains out in front to take the title on May 17. But Just Sam is catching up in the final hours leading up to the live show. And Francisco Martin is making a late break for the finish line as well. But don’t count out the other Top 5 finalists in our “American Idol” season 18 rankings: Dillon James and Jonny West. Remember, Laine Hardy pulled off an upset over frontrunner Alejandro Aranda last year.

No matter what happens in the remaining two episodes of “The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart,” it’ll be hard to top the insanity of Episode 4 that saw two couples depart and not even in their original pairings.
After a temporary couple swap for dates, Julia and Brandon informed Sheridan and Savannah that they had feelings for each other, causing their Og partners to walk (though Brandon was his wishy-washy self and said he preferred Savannah to Julia). Julia and Brandon’s union was short-lived, however, as their lackluster rendition of Pat Benatar‘s “We Belong” proved that they do not belong to the light or the thunder or together. The judges, Toni Braxton, Andy Grammer, and “The Bachelorette’s” Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo, were unimpressed — Braxton felt “tension” between them; Rachel called it a “karaoke performance.” They were axed, and Julia and cried that she was “done with Brandon,...

A crucial partner swap and a second round of entertaining live performances bolstered the latest episode of “The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart.”

Savannah even dubbed her relationship with Brandon “harmonious.” But Chris Harrison soon changed everything when he revealed the couples would be put to the ultimate test. In order to see if the relationships they created were solid, the couples would swap partners. The three new couples who ventured on dates were Jamie and Ryan, Chris and Rudi, and Julia and Brandon. There were several highlight moments on Sunday’s episode of “American Idol” as the Top 20 performed in the safety of their own homes and the judges provided critiques from their somewhat more upscale domiciles. Not even a worldwide epidemic can stop these talented singers from giving it their all. Among my favorites were Dillon James aka the spiritual cowboy with his ready-for-a-music-video Western backdrop as he sang Ray Lamontagne‘s “Let it Be Me” and Just Sam in a red gown while doing justice to Fantasia‘s “Believe.”
But the performance that really got to me was Jonny West, the 23-year-old piano teacher from Murrieta, California, who went through to the Hollywood rounds with his sweetheart and returning auditioner Margie Mays. Alas, Margie did not make the top 40. But last night, she gladly filled in as her honey’s stage crew and got some camera time herself on the show as well.

American Idol began finalizing its Top 20 on Sunday, sending eight hopefuls through to the live shows — and leaving one fan-favorite singer’s fate hanging in the balance.
Let’s start with that cliffhanger: 26-year-old Dillon James, easily one of the more #blessed contestants to grace the Idol stage, charmed the audience with an authentic rendition of Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A-Changin’.” It was hard to get a read on what the judges thought of Dillon’s performance, with Katy Perry offering a single vague critique about wanting him to tap into the emotional side of his voice more.

‘The Voice’ Top 13 results: Marybeth Byrd gets Apple Music bonus but who will sing for Instant Save?
On Monday’s episode of “The Voice,” the Top 13 artists coached by Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani performed. The goal for each contestant was to have the most streamed song on Apple Music by Tuesday at 10 am E.T./ 7 a.m. Pt so that they reaped the benefit of a five-times vote multiplier.
In a troubling sign of the popularity of these season 17 contestants, none of them cracked the Top 10 on iTunes; this was the benchmark for the multiplier until this season. The closest were two of the artists on Team John Legend: Marybeth Byrd ranked the highest, coming in at #18 for her rendition of the Vince Gill hit “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” Katie Kadan was right behind with her cover of “I’m Going Down” by Rose Royce.

Ricky Duran of Team Blake Shelton returned to “The Voice” stage during Monday’s Top 13 show and performed “You Are the Best Thing” for America’s votes. As this was dedication week, Ricky dedicated the song to his girlfriend who survived a stroke a year ago. Blake gave Ricky a standing ovation following the performance, but interestingly none of the other coaches jumped up to their feet. Do you think Ricky can survive this week’s cut and make it into the Top 11? Watch “The Voice” performance video above.

After making their official introduction last week with the track “Redesigning Women,” the Highwomen have now put their spin on a four-part harmony classic for an upcoming film. In the new trailer for The Kitchen, which comes out August 9th, the foursome of Amanda Shires, Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, and Maren Morris can be heard singing Fleetwood Mac’s ominous tune “The Chain.”
The movie, starring Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, and Elisabeth Moss, centers on three women launching their own criminal enterprise to make ends meet, a plot that’s...

The Highwomen host a massive bonfire in the new video for “Redesigning Women,” the first song released off their just-announced debut album.
Making a grand entrance on a fire truck, the supergroup of Amanda Shires, Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris, and Natalie Hemby have emancipation on their minds: they want to free themselves from the expectations and stereotypes placed on women. On Sunday’s “American Idol,” two of the Top 5 contestants were eliminated: Laci Kaye Booth and Wade Cota. Although they performed at the top of their game, in the end their three rival finalists got more of America’s votes. That leading trio of vote-getters as revealed by Ryan Seacrest are: Alejandro Aranda, Laine Hardy and Madison VanDenburg. (Vote in our ‘American Idol’ winner poll.)
This result meant that Laci and Wade fell just short of making the Top 3. We asked you which of these two talents to be sent home was robbed of a place in the finale next Sunday (May 19). By a margin of 56% to 44% “(as of this writing), “American Idol” viewers favor Wade over Laci.

Tonight, May 12, 2019, the remaining final 5, American Idol contestants did indeed hit the stage to do another set of performances for America's vote. And unfortunately, two of them just did not make the cut. They performed three song tonight. Since there's less people in the competition, they had enough time to do so. Of course, all the judges: Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan were on hand. Wade Cota was the first performer of the night. He sang, "You Are The Best Thing" by Ray Lamontagne. Afterwards, Katy said, "I'm so happy that contestants are pushed past their comfort zones. You met that challenge. I want you to let go even more." Luke said, "I like that you didn’t over do it. You were very easy to listen to." Lionel said, "Just enjoy this ride. Relax a little." Next, Laci Kaye Booth hit the stage to sing, "The House...

Wade Cota has gotten to the top 5 on the ABC revival of “American Idol” based on his nine performances to date beginning with his rendition of “Work Song” by Hozier back on March 31. That cover did well when we asked viewers to pick his best song, earning a solid 16%. However, leading the way with 28% was Wade’s rendition on the Top 6 show of the Shawn James hit “Through the Valley.” And “Idol” fans liked his other song that night too as “With A Little Help From My Friends” by The Beatles merited 17% of the total tally.
At the other end of the scale are some of Wade’s more recent efforts with his Top 8 cover of the Queen classic “We Are the Champions” registering just 2%. Also figuring in the bottom three are his Top 10 performance of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from “Toy Story” and his Top 20 duet...

In advance of the final five taking to stage on Sunday’s live “American Idol,” we wanted to know who viewers were backing to win season 17. Alejandro Aranda garnered a whopping 40% support in our poll. Laine Hardy, his closest rival more ways than one, is next with 31%. They lead out power rankings from best to worst and are all but certain to number among the Top 3 revealed by Ryan Seacrest at the end of the show on May 12.
Of the other three contestants, Wade Cota looks the likeliest to round out the roster of finalists. He has 15% of the total tally. The two women still standing — Laci Kaye Booth and Madison Vandenburg — did not break into double digits with 6% and 8% of the vote by “American Idol” fans respectively.

Laci Kaye Booth is almost certain to face elimination on “American Idol” this Sunday according to the results of our poll of viewers. She only made the final five on last Sunday’s episode when Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie decided to use their one judges save of the season to keep her in the competition. But she has earned only a measly 6% in our survey of “American Idol” fans heading into the Top 5 show on May 12.
The other contestant joining her in the bottom two is likely to be Madison VanDenburg who merited a mere 8% in our poll results. All five singers still in the competition will take to the stage on Sunday to perform a trio of tunes. Each will sing a song from the Elton John catalog, another picked out by mentor Bobby Bones and a third in honor of Mother’s Day.

Over the last couple years, Ray Lamontagne has been staging Just Passing Through tour, an acoustic run where the songwriter has been performing stripped-down sets that have gotten rave reviews: “His face was barely visible, shadowed under his newsie cap and a bright white light that shone down to a dark stage,” one read. “From the moment Lamontagne began to sing until his very last note, the audience was held captive by his voice.”
Today, the songwriter announced 30 more dates, beginning October 11th at Providence’ Rhode Island’s Providence Performance Arts Center.

On the May 5 episode of “American Idol,” the Top 6 sang two songs each: one that was inspirational and the other from the summer of 1969 in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock music festival. Four of the half dozen contestants made it through based on their votes from the public: Alejandro Aranda, Wade Cota, Laine Hardy and Madison VanDenburg. A fifth, Laci Kaye Booth, got the judges save while the other artist in the bottom two, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, was eliminated.
We asked for your predictions as to which of these remaining five finalists will go all the way to win season 17. “Idol” fans are divided between two of the artists: Alejandro Aranda has 41% of the viewers vote as of this writing and Laine Hardy is at 30%. While Alejandro is about where he was last week (40%), Laine has added five points to his total. Much of that support comes from fans of Jeremiah.

“American Idol” ended Sunday’s live episode with a shocker after Ryan Seacrest revealed the last of the four artists from the Top 6 to make the cut. Judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie opted to use their single save of the season to throw a lifeline to Laci Kaye Booth, one of the two eliminated contestants. Sunday’s “American Idol” episode showcases the Top 6 who will sing two songs each: one that is inspirational and the other from 50 years ago. If the viewers vote along the lines of their responses to our recent survey, it will be the end of the road for the two remaining women in the competition: Laci Kaye Booth and be Madison VanDenburg.
