Chipper Jones

Chipper Jones was born on April 24, 1972 in DeLand, Florida to Larry
Sr. and Lynne Jones. He grew up in Pierson, Florida, the "Fern Capital
of the World". He was nicknamed Chipper when he was young because he
looked like "a chip off the old block". He was the number one overall
pick in the 1990 Amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves. he rose quickly
to the majors and got his first start on September 11, 1993. In 1994,
He tore his ACL and sat out the strike-shortened season. But he soon
regained form and became the 1999 National League MVP. In 2004 his
streak of eight straight years with 100+ RBI's ended because he missed
playing time with numerous injuries. Chipper has helped lead the Braves
to 13 consecutive division titles and a World Series
Championship.
