Exclusive: Screen Media has announced its acquisition of all North American rights to Helen’s Dead, a mystery comedy starring Dylan Gelula (Dream Scenario), Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild), Tyrese Gibson (Fast X), Annabelle Dexter-Jones (Succession), and Oliver Cooper (Red Oaks). Set to hit theaters in at least the top 10 markets, the film will open day-and-date on November 3.
The flick directed by K. Asher Levin follows the story of Addie (Gelula), who, after a terrible breakup with her boyfriend, goes to confront her best friend about cheating allegations and accidentally steps into a murder scene.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers is in talks to star in Altitude, a thriller set on on a runaway hot-air balloon in the works from writer-director Marc Fienberg. The pic is in preproduction and shooting is scheduled to start in January in South Africa. 13 Films is repping international rights to the project and is presenting it to buyers at the American Film Market, which kicks off Wednesday in Santa Monica. Meyers would play a man who has planned the perfect romantic proposal to his girlfriend in front of their friends and family aboard a hot air balloon. David Tennant is joining Emily Watson in the psychological thriller “Quicksand.”
The film, due to shoot in April on the Greek island of Crete, re-teams the British actors, who starred as a couple in 2013’s “The Politician’s Husband,” a three-episode British miniseries.
“Quicksand” follows a British couple living out their dream in the Mediterranean. But their paradise comes to an abrupt end when their visiting son is tragically murdered by a local youth. The husband is offered a chance at revenge by a dangerous stranger who won’t take no for an answer, but the price of revenge is one more murder.
