In 1925, he was one of a few men who dared to dance on a Portuguese stage - wearing face masks. He left for Paris, where he learned classic ballet, and returned to Lisbon as a choreographer and dancer. One of his works was at the inaugural show of the Cine-Teatro Capitólio, at Parque Mayer, Lisbon, in 1930 - where he danced with the celebrated Ruth Aswin.
