Earlier this summer, we learned the adaptation of Dean Koontz's thriller Odd Thomas had been delayed indefinitely because of a legal dispute from Two Out of Ten Productions (Toot) and Fusion Films against Outsource Media Group Fund, Abs Investment Group, individuals Craig Chang and Mark Bishop, and Outsource Media Group. But now the film from director Stephen Sommers is finally getting distribution as Image Entertainment has announced acquisition of Us rights for the adaptation that stars Anton Yelchin (Fright Night, Star Trek) as a short-order cook named Odd Thomas who can talk with the dead. The paranormal secret is known only to Thomas' girlfriend (Addison Timlin) and the local police chief (Willem Dafoe) as Thomas tries to do his best by the silent souls who seek him out, sometimes wanting justice and helping the police solve, or even prevent, a crime. But when mysterious man comes to town with...

If you look around online, you won't have to search too long before finding a working unofficial trailer for Odd Thomas, the adaptation of the Dean Koontz novel about a short-order cook named Odd Thomas (Anton Yelchin) who can commune with the dead, a secret only his girlfriend (Addison Timlin) and the local police chief (Willem Dafoe) know. Thomas can also spot malevolent forces called bodachs, who feed on pain and portent imminent death. When Odd sees them in spades surrounding a stranger, he finds himself in a race against time to avert a catastrophe. But don't count on seeing this flick anytime soon. THR has word on a legal dispute from Two Out of Ten Productions (Toot) and Fusion Films against Outsource Media Group Fund, Abs Investment Group, individuals Craig Chang and Mark Bishop, and Outsource Media Group. The lawsuit focuses on $25 million which should have been spent on...

Wondering just where the hell Stephen Sommers' adaptation of the Dean R. Koontz book Odd Thomas has been? Honestly, we all but forgot about it, but THR just gave us a grim reminder of reality.
As per the site:
The producers of Odd Thomas are suing several entities, alleging that they failed to provide [a shocking] $35 million that would have gone toward marketing and distributing the movie and paying back production loans. Two Out of Ten Prods., known at Toot, and Fusion Films filed their lawsuit Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, naming as defendants Outsource Media Group Fund, Abs Investment Group, individuals Craig Chang and Mark Bishop, and Outsource Media Group. The latter, referred to as Omg in the lawsuit, is run by principals Bradley Holmes, Dan Reardon, and Harrison Kordestani, an executive producer of lower-budget horrors and thrillers such as The Coffin, Already Dead, In a Dark Place and Intervention.

Banff, Alberta -- Nathan Mayfield, founder of Australian cross-platform producer Hoodlum, recently took a phone call from a North American broadcaster asking him to locate and recapture lost TV audiences online.
"He said, 'Our TV show just went to air, we've lost half the audience, and I can't find them elsewhere in the ratings,' " he recalls.
Mayfield, who's made a name wooing online audiences for TV series like ITV's "Emmerdale," BBC's "Spooks" and ABC's "Lost" back to the living room couch, is this week at the Banff World Television Festival to tell delegates how he solves the case of lost TV audiences.
"It's all about driving audiences back to TV, and not ignoring them when they go online," Mayfield said.
Hoodlum's online TV tie-ins, most recently for ABC's "Flash Forward," go to the heart of the Banff World TV Festival, where new media producers over the next four days...

I absolutely adore 24 and as a die-hard fan I think it's a brilliant show. It not only revolutionized television with its real-time format, but has been consistently entertaining since day one. Kiefer Sutherland was already somewhat of a star when the series premiered, but he became a household name synonymous with his character Jack Bauer, a hard as nails government agent out to protect the innocent and seek justice at the cost of his own life. I'm just as sorry as any fan to see the show go after eight seasons, but I'm also relieved. 24 has grown more than a little tired over the years, with story-lines and plot devices that have become incredibly familiar. That's because much of what we see has occurred before and every story line, plot thread or turn of events feels directly copied from previous seasons. Jack and his colleagues not only find themselves in the same situations,...
