Exclusive: Genius Produced has snapped up the rights to the story of aviation pioneer Florence Lowe “Pancho” Barnes in an agreement with her family and estate.
The announcement was made by Genius Produced CEO Kim Rocco Shields, who also revealed that Dahlia Heyman, sister of producer David Heyman, will adapt the story for a feature film which Shields will produce and direct. Shields previously wrote, produced and directed the viral short Love Is All You Need? which
she developed into a feature film.
Christened Florence Lowe at birth in 1901, Pancho Barnes fell in love with flying under the guidance of her grandfather, who established America’s first military air unit during the Civil War. After a youth spent riding stunt horses in Hollywood and fighting Mexican revolutionaries while disguised as a man, she was dubbed “Pancho” by her compatriots, and the name stuck; her last name was acquired through marriage.

The Wichita Eagle reported that Tom Leahy, a teacher at Conway Springs Middle School, was expected to hand in his resignation after showing Love Is All You Need? to three eighth-grade history classes (which would normally contain children aged 13 to 14). The 19-minute satirical film depicts a society in which same-sex relationships are conventional and a young girl is picked on for being heterosexual. The film, directed by Kim Rocco Shields and produced in 2011, culminates in the fictional protagonist killing herself.

Not to be confused with "Can a Song Save Your Life?," of course.
Kellan Lutz and Camilla Belle aren't afraid to ask the tough existential questions as they've signed on for the romantic indie drama, "Love Is All You Need?," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film is set in an alternate reality where homosexuality is the norm. Belle will play a star quarterback (no, that's not a typo) whose budding romance with a journalist (Lutz) leads to the couple being bullied.
This seems like a pretty bold experiment, something that Julie Taymor or Sofia Coppola might tackle — and we like the sound of it. "Love Is All You Need?" is being co-written and directed by Kim Rocco Shields, who also called the shots on the short film on which it's based.

Simply for aor avoiding the tedious day-by-day casting process, I instantly and unreservedly commend The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete. Previously unbeknownst to us — but now made public, thanks to Deadline — is the news that State Street Pictures and iDeal Partners have started shooting a new drama from George Tillman Jr. (Faster, Men of Honor) that stars Anthony Mackie, Jeffrey Wright, Jennifer Hudson, and Jordin Sparks (Sparkle). Alicia Keys will executive produce, for some reason.
Michael Starrbury wrote the film, which follows “two inner-city youths left to fend for themselves over the summer after their mothers are taken away by the authorities.” I can’t see any of the aforementioned actors playing “youths” of any sort — well, in a dramatic film — though its IMDb page lists Eric Ruffin and The Wire‘s Julito McCullum. I’d guess the primary roles fall to them.
Next up, Variety tells us that Camilla Belle (10,000 B.

The plot for Kim Rocco Shields' indie drama Love Is All You Need? sounds like it has a sort of Twlight Zone twist to its setting, with the story taking place in a reality where homosexuality is considered the norm and a plot that involves a man and a woman engaging in a secret romance. The reference may be even more fitting (in a shamelessly punning sort of way) as Twilight star Kellan Lutz has reportedly signed on for a role in the WingSpan Pictures drama. The Hollywood Reporter posted the news, stating that Lutz has joined Love Is All You Need?, along with Camilla Belle (who is in final negotiations). Based on a short by Shields with the feature script co-written by David Tillman, the film, which follows several storylines set in a world where homosexuality is considered the norm (from the short film's website, the tagline is...
