Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s 2005 hit movie has finally been adapted into a TV show after several stop-start attempts. Created by Donald Glover and his “Atlanta” colleague Francesca Sloane, the series follows two secret agents who go undercover as a married couple in order to complete missions for a mysterious organization.
Glover stars as one half of the duo while “Pen15” star/creator Maya Erskine features as the other. Glover is reliably excellent as John Smith but it’s Erskine, as Jane Smith, who steals the show, as noted by critics.
Kristen Baldwin (Entertainment Weekly) stated: “Erskine — so wonderfully, uninhibitedly awkward in ‘PEN15’ — brings a riveting stillness to Jane. Her character’s inscrutable mien keeps John and the audience a little off-balance, though Erskine reveals glimmers of emotional desolation in Jane’s steady gaze.”
Aaron Pruner (The Wrap) observed: “Erskine, who many will recognize as the brace-faced 13-year old in Hulu comedy “PEN15,...

"Don't trust anyone." Get a look at this interesting indie film project from a writer named Jacob Michael King making his first film. Caviar is the title – described as a "satirical conspiracy theory indie thriller," about deepfakes, social media, and misinformation. Antigone Corday is an aspiring social media influencer. She is mourning the recent death of her brother, Jeremiah, a well-known pundit and voice for progressive causes. Soon, however, she uncovers a conspiracy that throws her worldview, and the fate of the planet, into question. Betsey Brown stars as Antigone, with Al Warren, James Healy Jr., and Aaron Pruner. The director adds: "Caviar uses the language of conspiracy theory and misinformation to highlight the abuses performed by those in authority. Its outlandish story is an amalgam of historical fact, wild speculation, and outright fiction—it exaggerates the 'lies, evasions, folly, hatred and schizophrenia' that make up our politics, and exposes them to sunlight.

"Star Trek Into Darkness" hits theaters Friday, making it the 12th film in the "Star Trek" movie franchise. With Benedict Cumberbatch filling the "bad guy" shoes here, it seems only fair that we take a look back and rank all of the Star Trek movie villains that have graced the big screen over the past three decades. You're welcome.
11. The Whale Probe From Space - "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" (1986)
This is probably the weirdest villain on the list because, well, it's a whale-loving space monster looking to reunite with its Humpback brethren by emptying all of Earth's oceans.
10. Sybok - "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier" (1989)
The half-brother of Spock, Sybok (Laurence Luckinbill) is pretty much a backwards Vulcan. Emotions are more important than logic to him. Here, he brainwashes everyone so he can get to the middle of space to meet God...who turns...

One of the things we pride ourselves on here at Dread Central is that many of our staff members have spread their wings and tried their hands at other things besides giving you the best news and review coverage we can. That being said, it's with great pleasure that we debut the first (and supposedly only) directorial effort from our own Heather Wixson, her short film Paper Rock, Scissors.
Starring Aaron Pruner ("Vr Troopers") and Corbett Tuck (Insidious), Paper Rock, Scissors was directed by Wixson and written by Bryan Ryan (The Guest, Tresspasser). The short film was shot and edited by Brian Smith with original music by Dwayne Cathey and special make-up effects by Kelsey Boutte.
"I'm incredibly proud of everyone's work on Paper Rock, Scissors, and I can't think of a better short film debut for me than this," said Wixson. "Growing up, I had two loves - horror...

Any time one of our own gets to create something cool is a great day to be a part of the Dread Central family. Our very own Horror Chick, Heather Wixson, is getting set to try her hand at directing with the upcoming horror comedy short Paper Rock, Scissors. Read on for details and teaser art!
"So it's with huge enthusiasm that I get to Officially announce that on October 6th I will be directing my first (and only!) short film called Paper Rock, Scissors starring Corbett Tuck (Insidious) and Aaron Pruner ("Vr Troopers")," says Wixson in her initial announcement. "While I'm not giving anything away in terms of plot, what I can say is that it is a comedy with a horror twist, and it's either going to be something people will really dig or they're going to think I'm absolutely nuts."
Just how we like things!
