Adult virgins are held in pretty much the same regard as post-transformation Gregor Samsa. In real life, they're fairly rare, though not complete unicorns, and are often considered peculiar by the sexually active majority. So virginity makes for a pretty good existential device for storytellers to isolate a character from the rest of humanity without actually turning him or her into a bug. In Sex Ed, directed by Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker Isaac Feder, Haley Joel Osment's virginal Ed Cole is a science teacher who can't find a job during the recession. Hired by a Tampa district as a new "after-school activities coordinator," he quickly determines that means he's a junior-high detention monitor. He realizes that the preadolescent kids know nothing about sex, an...

Haley Joel Osment’s biggest role to date as the ghost whisperer Cole Sear in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense will likely precede him his entire professional life. His performance was undoubtedly mindblowing for such a young actor. But to shake the shackles of the cute kid persona, he’s making leaps towards establishing a long-term career. Most recently he took a supporting role in Kevin Smith’s horror-comedy, Tusk, and next month he’ll be heading up his own comedy in Sex Ed.
The story revolves around the life of Osment’s teacher, Ed Cole. After he bags his first job at a middle school, it soon dawns on him that the youngsters he’s assigned to teach have no idea about sexual education. Despite suffering a bit of dry spell in the shag department, Cole takes on the responsibility and sets about schooling his tribe on the human body,...

"Sex Ed," the first feature film directed by Isaac Feder will be making its world premiere as one of the opening night features for the 2014 Portland Film Festival.
Haley Joel Osment stars in the film as Eddie, stuck in the post-collegiate doldrums; shitty job, shitty apartment, no girlfriend. He takes a job supervising an after school detention program, where he quickly discovers that the kids are getting no form of sexual education. If he doesn’t teach it, they’re going to learn about sex from the internet. And the internet is a dark place.
Eddie isn’t equipped to teach sex ed – he’s a virgin. But he fakes it, and soon the kids start to love and look forward to his class. He even scores a date with the older sister of one of his students. But everything falls apart when his new girlfriend finds out that Eddie gave her little brother condoms, and the head of the local PTA threatens to cancel his class.
According to Osment, this film has found the perfect home in Portland. “This is huge for us. We looked at some other festivals where we would have been a minor event and here they're giving us the focus of opening night.” Both Osment and Feder will be among other cast and crew on the red carpet for the premiere and opening night celebration at Portland’s Crystal Ballroom on August 26, beginning at 5:30pm.
The 2014 Portland Film Festival is a week-long event taking place August 26-September 1, 2014 in Portland, Oregon. There will be daily film screenings in 7 theaters throughout the city, networking events and classes all week, as well as 3 days of outdoor screenings and events. Haley Joel Osment ("The Sixth Sense," "A.I.: Artificial Intelligence") has signed on for the lead role in the comedy "Sex Ed" for Mpca and Aperture Entertainment says The Hollywood Reporter.
The story follows a college graduate who dreams of teaching high school Algebra. Due to budget cuts though, he ends up teaching sexual education - a bit of a problem as he's still a virgin.
He soon befriends a mentor in a blues bar, a ruthless enemy in the local PTA, and a gorgeous Polish love interest. Billy Kennedy penned the script while commercials director Isaac Feder will helm.
Brad Jenkel, Brad Krevoy, Seth Grossman and Adam Goldworm will produce.

I'm going to kill you, Harry Potter. I'm going to destroy you. After tonight, no one will ever again question my powers. After tonight, if they speak of your name, they'll speak only of how you begged for Casting, and I, being a merciful lord, obliged. First up, THR reports Haley Joel Osment will return to the big screen (his last appearance was about 3 years ago in the 2007 film Home of the Giants) in the coming-of-age story Sex Ed. Marking the feature directorial debut of Isaac Feder, the story follows a college grad who dreams of teaching high school Algebra but due to budget restraints, ends up teaching sex ed, despite being a virgin. Second, The Wrap reports that Brian Cox (Bourne Supremacy) has joined the cast of Rise of the Apes, the prequel and presumed franchise reboot of the classic science fiction film Planet of the Apes. ...

Haley Joel Osment, formerly the little kid from "The Sixth Sense", makes a return to the big screen as he grabs the lead role in the upcoming comedy "Sex Ed". The script is written by Billy Kennedy and will be directed by Isaac Feder, marking this basically as his feature film debut. "Sex Ed" centers on a college graduate who dreams of teaching high school Algebra but due to budget restraints, ends up teaching sexual education, despite being a virgin. He discovers an unlikely mentor in a blues bar, a ruthless enemy in the local PTA, and a gorgeous Polish girl for whom English is a distant second language. Well, I wonder how this story is going to turn out, since it's so ridiculously formulaic in the possibly stupid comedy sense. Seth Grossman is producing along with Adam Goldworm of Apeture Entertainment and Brad Krevoy and Brad Jenkel under Mpca.

It came as a great shock when I heard Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense, Secondhand Lions) has been cast in a new coming-of-age tale entitled Sex Ed.
It was surprising not because it sounds like a bad film, but because Haley Joel Osment, despite playing a major role in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense, has been reduced to voice acting for straight-to-dvd animation films and video games. Could this mark the rebirth of a talented, and often overlooked, child actor?
Sex Ed will be directed by Isaac Feder, and according to THR Osment will play

Former child star Haley Joel Osment is due to make his return to the big screen after a two-year hiatus. The actor will take on the role of a college graduate who wants to teach high-school algebra, but who for one reason or another ends up teaching sex education instead, despite being a virgin.
Predictably, we're told Osment's character "discovers an unlikely mentor in a blues bar, a ruthless enemy in the local PTA, and a gorgeous Polish girl for whom English is a distant second language". There's no word yet on a production schedule for the movie, which is titled Sex Ed.
We reckon Osment could be very convincing as a geeky maths-loving virgin, but the plot looks so-so, to say the least. Plus, Isaac Feder, who's known for commercials and short films, will be in the director's chair and he doesn't have a lot of experience with feature-length productions like this one.

I think I just made this news item seem a whole lot seedier than it actually is thanks to using Haley Joel Osment's mugshot, but oh well! It’s been a while since Haley Joel Osment has been seen on screens – three years, to be exact, since 2007’s Home of the Giants. But while he has one other film (Montana Amazon) in the can and aiming to release later this year, he’s just signed on to a new comedy, Sex Ed.Since he’s clearly too old now to play a high school kid, it only makes sense that he’s nabbed the role of a college graduate who has his heart set on teaching algebra, but thanks to tough budget cuts, ends up leading a sexual education class. The comedic twist? He’s a virgin.Oh, but he’ll get practical advice from a mentor in a blues bar, come into conflict with the local parents’ group and fall for a beautiful Polish girl who barely speaks a word of English. But who needs words...
