- Tawny Richard was born on April 17, 1977 to Trudy Topornicki and Tom Richard in Toronto, Ontario as the oldest of three children: her sister is Tristin Richard, and her brother is Tyler Richard. Richard's parents divorced and her mother remarried to Terry Parker.
Richard's only acting role was at the age of 7 in Follow That Bird (1985), where she played a little girl who sees Big Bird backstage and calls Hooper's Store.
Richard was an avid hockey and soccer player, and an accomplished gymnast, cheerleader, and member of the student council, prom committee, and track team at Humberside Collegiate in Toronto.

- Richard was a student athlete, competing in gymnastics, soccer, volleyball, cheerleading, ice hockey, and woman's flag football at Humberside Collegiate Institute in Toronto.
