TORONTO -- Veteran Canadian actor Donnelly Rhodes is to receive the Earle Grey Award to recognize 50 years of film and TV work at the upcoming Gemini Awards, the Academy of Cinema & Television said Wednesday. Canada's TV awards will also give CTV executive Bob Culbert the Academy Achievement Award, while veteran CBC reporter Hana Gartner will receive the Gordon Sinclair Award for broadcast journalism. Other special award winners include screenwriter Pete White receiving the Margaret Collier Award, and veteran Canadian news anchor Beverly Thomson being honored with the Gemini Humanitarian Award for publicizing the fight against breast cancer after successfully battling the disease herself. The 21st annual Gemini Awards will air nationwide on Nov. 4 from Vancouver.
