Idris Elba is looking back fondly on his timed deejaying a once-in-a-lifetime wedding.
The actor moonlights as a hit DJ and was invited to perform at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018. While the ceremony was quite formal, the party members were able to cut loose on the dance floor afterwards.

Speaking on the rare opportunity, Elba revealed who among the royals could bust a move.
“You know what? I was so nervous,” he admitted to Et’s Carlos Bustamante.
When asked who was the best dancer, however, he said, “I think Meghan was the one that was really like letting it go. You know, she was real… She just had a lot of fun. It was her wedding. So she had the greatest time.”

Songwriter Mike Stoller was 3,000 miles away from the Royal Wedding, where the inspirational “Stand By Me,” which he co-wrote, was sung by the London-based, Karen Gibson-led Kingdom Choir at Windsor Castle’s St. George’s Chapel. The May 19 performance of the 1961 classic was the only “pop” song to be part of the Royal procession, reportedly a personal request from Meghan Markle after Prince Charles suggested the gospel troupe be invited.
The 85-year-old Stoller, who is still working, is the only living member of the trio which co-wrote the original.
Mirroring the mix of its creators – Stoller and Jerry Leiber were a pair of Jewish songwriters, while Ben E. King was an African-American vocalist and a former member of the Drifters – “Stand by Me” seemed to represent a historic acknowledgement of its origins with the introduction of the bi-racial Markle into the Royal Family.

Millions of royal family fanatics (or Royal-o-philes) around the world were glued to their TVs today — or very early this morning if you watched Stateside — to catch a glimpse of what many people consider the wedding of the year as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made it official by tying the royal knot. There were plenty of moments and ornate fascinators to remember from the day’s fairytale festivities at St. George’s Chapel — particularly the moment when Meghan Markle walked down the aisle and slayed in her stunning wedding dress made by Givenchy’s creative director Clare Waight Keller.
With a train and veil that seemed as though it went on for days, Markle walked down the aisle on the arm of Prince Charles as an operatic tune filled the chapel. The former Suits star had a matrimony glow as many brides-to-be were living vicariously through her.

The nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were plenty galvanizing, though one moment during the wedding ceremony of the newly named Duke and Duchess of Sussex was particularly poignant.
After Reverend Michael Bruce Curry gave a stirring address, Karen Gibson led the Kingdom Choir in a stunning rendition of “Stand By Me.”
The song choice especially resonated given Markle’s background. Her status as a biracial woman marks a sign of inclusivity of the modern-day monarchy.
The royal couple held hands as the London-based group sang Ben E. King’s classic 1961 hit at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle before 600 guests, including Oprah Winfrey, Elton John, George and Ama Clooney, Idris Elba, Serena Williams, and Priyanka Chopra.
The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby lead Harry and Meghan’s vows following the choir’s performance.
