Armando P. Ibáñez is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, poet and professor. He has taught filmmaking for the past 10 years, including screenwriting, producing and directing. Today, he teaches film production courses at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Ibáñez has written, produced and directed feature documentaries, shorts and narratives. His latest documentary, entitled South Texas Gentle Men of Steel - Los Padres, has won 24 awards, including: Award of Excellence Feature Documentary and Award of Excellence Direction, Depth of Field International Film Festival; Award of Excellence and Award of Merit, The IndieFest Film Awards; and Best Documentary for April 2018, London Independent Film Awards. His first feature documentary about the Hurricane Katina Disaster, Not Broken, won the Platinum Remi Award, Independent Film & Video Documentary. Ibáñez earned an MFA in producing television and film from The American Film Institute, and is the founder and President of Pluma Pictures Inc., a non-profit film production company, dedicated to producing films about heroes dedicated to the betterment of the community.
