Chad Grochowski is an award-winning director, cameraman and sound mixer for documentary film and TV with over two decades of experience in both the US and internationally.
Beginning with Tom Shepard's Sundance Audience Award winning film, 'Scouts Honor' in 2001, up through to Morgan Spurlock's reality/doco series '30 Days', in 2006 - Chad has served as location sound mixer for documentaries, especially those with small crew incorporating unscripted verité methods.
As a DP/Cameraman, Chad has filmed for broadcasters such as MTV, the Learning Channel, PBS, Bloomberg, Shanghai Media Group, as well as for his own documentaries, All Men Are Sons in 2002 and The Scraphouse 2005, and other independent projects.
From 2010-13, in partnership with the International Channel of Shanghai, he directed two seasons of the bi-lingual Chinese version of the award winning reality show, THE AMAZING RACE: CHINA RUSH, winning an award for best adaptation of a foreign format at the Asian Television Awards in 2012. In 2016 he directed a series of projects for Shanghai Disney, including broadcast segments highlighting the composer, Tan Dun, who created the musical program for the opening ceremonies.
Following on that success, he and his company, Boxtop Studios, were chosen to be a co-production partner for SMG-Dragon TV and Shine UK's project; the Mandarin Chinese version of the global hit, MASTER CHEF (Dingjí Chúshi), providing extensive production and post production services.
Whether filming or producing for large broadcast clients or with indie filmmakers or on his own documentaries, Chad puts himself in service to the project to help each reach its full potential to engage and enrich.
Grochowski lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area of California.
