- Agis Paikos was born on the 24th of August in Nicosia, Cyprus, the son of a barrister-at-law and a schoolteacher. As a child he worked on various children's programs for the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation. After high school and military service he moved to Paris, France, where he studied drama at the prestigious Francois Florent Drama School and later at the Andreas Voutsinas Theatre Workshop. He appeared in a few plays, acting in English and in French. At the same time he enrolled at the Sorbonne to study film directing. He directed a few shorts, shown in Parisian cinematheques and then moved to the U.S., first to California, then to New York City where he continued his education in film and drama.
