Synopsis: A small town strip club owner must defend her bar; her strippers and her life when violent infected patron’s show up on the final closing night and all hell breaks loose.
Oh my goodness, where do I begin?
Peelers, much in the vein of Zombie Strippers, is a horror-comedy that really goes and pushes hard for an R rating. Its gooey, it’s gory, it’s crude and it pushes these aspects throughout the running time constantly.
To that extent, I was equally grossed out one moment and laughing the next, constantly surprised that the film went to such a lengths for shocks and comedic effect.
Writer Lisa DeVita and director Seve Schelenz seem to be on board with one another as to what the tone of Peelers should be, because as much as it is a horror comedy, it never loses sight of the balance throughout.

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Uncork'd Entertainment. Director: Sevé Schelenz. Writers: Lisa DeVita and Sevé Schelenz. Cast: Wren Walker, Caz Odin Darko, Madison J. Loos, Cameron Dent and Al Dales. Movie reviews can serve various functions. Sometimes, they can help get more seats filled at the movie theatres. Sometimes, they can save people a bit of time. In the case of Peelers, they can serve as a warning; do not see this film! Unfortunately, the screenplay, from first time screenwriter Lisa Devita, is mostly a miss as one might expect. As well, a portion of the cast are also just as inexperienced. Thus, Peelers misses a lot of its marks, especially in the character and plot department areas. The music, from composer Vincent Mai, which will be discussed first, is often on point. However, almost every other filmmaking element is a swing and a miss.

The 2nd annual PollyGrind assaults Las Vegas during an epic length film festival that runs Oct. 8-17 at Theatre 7 with enough sleaze and violence to make Sin City residents feel right at home.
Actually, the fest does open up on the 7th with a concert at Neon Venus with local acts like Monster Zero, Creepersin and many more.
However, the film portion of the fest opens on the 8th with Stuart Simpson‘s acclaimed Australian gorefest El Monstro Del Mar!, one of the best Russ Meyer/Roger Corman mash-ups with a Down Under twist. Read the Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film review of this gem here.
Other Bad Lit favorites in the lineup are Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson‘s The Taint, which is still completely grossing out audiences on the festival circuit, and The Uh-Oh Show, the splatter-filled horror comedy by the Godfather of Gore himself Herschell Gordon Lewis.

The closing night film on the 16th is also an international affair: Joe Bauer’s The Killage, an Australian horror comedy that sends up the teen camp counselors slasher genre. Plus, there will be several Aussie short films accompanying this final feature.
Smooshed in between these two events are some of the most original and provocative terror flicks around,...

From the Press Release:
