Kenichi Ugana’s “The Gesuidouz” is a delightful deadpan oddity about a Japanese punk group, whose 26-year-old lead singer Hanako (Natsuko) is convinced she’ll be dead at 27, the same age as Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain. The quartet’s sardonic musical energy translates visually at every turn, with bright, subdued visual affectations that find humor in the morose.

Kinoko Inu , an upcoming TV anime based on the manga of the same name, has revealed a wealth of new information, including the main staff, key cast, a teaser trailer, and two new pieces of teaser art (below). The series will broadcast in Japan beginning in fall 2024. Tokuma Shoten serialized the original Kinoko Inu manga by Kimama Aoboshi from 2010 – 2022 in their Monthly Comic Ryu seinen manga magazine. Kagetoshi Asano directs the TV anime at animation studio C-Station. Jin Tanaka provides the series composition, Daisuke Endou provides the character designs, and Akiyuki Tateyama provides the music. The series features the voice talents of Daiki Kobayashi as Kinoko Inu and Yuto Uemura as Hotaru . Kinoko Inu , a manga by Kimama Aoboshi about a strange dog / mushroom creature, is being adapted into a TV anime that will broadcast in Japan beginning in the fall season of 2024.
