A spinoff of the film franchise, “Freddy’s Nightmares” was an anthology series starring the original Freddy Krueger, Robert Englund. Airing from 1988 to 1990, each episode told a different story of a dark rooted and grim nature that takes place in this fictitious town on Elm Street, and now a brand new book will take us deeper into the series than ever before.
Death Cult Press has announced Welcome to Primetime from authors Geoff Turner, Henrique Couto and David Denover, up for pre-order now ahead of April 1, 2024 release.
“This collection features breakdowns of each episode in the series, interviews with the show’s creators and a selected history of the bizarre world of horror anthology television.”
You can pre-order three different book bundles from Death Cult Press now.
“Freddy’s Nightmares” picked up with where the films left off, with Krueger terrorizing the citizens of his hometown and taking his revenge out through their dreams.

‘Amityville: No Escape’ – This Found Footage Installment Is Only Half Successful [The Amityville IP]
Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
The found footage entries in the Amityville series have been hit and miss. The Amityville Haunting featured a few innovative uses of the format, but the minuscule budget and bad acting hampered its potential. Amityville: Vanishing Point was unable to screen in Canada, though it, too, looked very cheap. The seventeenth film in the “franchise,” Amityville: No Escape, adopts two different strategies for its use of found footage.
Co-written by actor Ira Gansler (he plays the Woodsman), as well as director Henrique Couto, the film opens with cards explaining how the content of the film came to be. The video was cut by the District Attorney’s Office in Suffolk County to “contextualize the inauspicious events that took place on April 15th,...

The series has the following synopsis: Take an analog journey to Hell. Press play if you dare as you experience tales of horror, murder, and monsters! In the tradition of Creepshow and Paranormal Activity comes a new dimension in terror!
Couto was one of the directors who worked on Found Footage: The Series. Other contributors include Dan Wilder (Babysitter Massacre: Heavy Metal), newcomers Tim Castle and Joe Solmo, Jb Sapienza (My Name Is Jonah), and Eric Widing (Primordial). Episodes were written by Wilder,...

With "Babysitter Massacre", director Henrique Couto ("Bleeding Through", "Faces Of Schlock") embraces the tropes of ‘80s cinema -nudity, dark humor and gratuitous body count – to deliver a new and surprisingly nuanced take on the gruesome micro-budget slasher genre! Shot in Dayton, Ohio, the film attracted a robust cast of experienced independent actors and fresh faces, and is director Couto's most ambitious to date. Getting the right balance between gore and complexity of character was a real challenge for the director, who commented, I grew up loving the slasher films of the ‘80s for all the obvious reasons, but also because they were real stories that made you care about the people whose lives were at stake. With Babysitter Massacre, I didn't want to simply reference...

The Evil Dead from director Sam Raimi. The Last House on the Left or The Hills Have Eyes from director Wes Craven. Hatchet from director Adam Green. Q from director Larry Cohen. Night of the Living Dead from legendary George A. Romero. What do these films, these directors have in common with Andrew N. Shearer, you ask? See, those were all low budget films (by Hollywood standards anyway!) from a group of directors who were all passionate about the craft of horror and making statements through that medium on culture and what's going on. That same passion, that same philosophy comes across in Andrew N. Shearer's No budget horror films that take seemingly familiar horror stories and mix that with elements of Gen X New Queer (in this case, lesbian) cinema resulting in films that have distinction and stand out for there originality in what many horror fans feel...
