- Alexander Perri was born in Toronto, Ontario. Growing up, he was always playing with his dad's SLR cameras, and grew to love photography and beautiful images. This naturally carried into having a fascination with movies and the filmmaking process as a whole. He always found himself spending hours watching all the making of featurettes for any movie he watched. Some of his favorite movies growing up were the "Indiana Jones" and the original "Star Wars" trilogies. Perri studied Image Arts - Photography at the Toronto Metropolitan University in Toronto (formerly Ryerson University) in 2008 for 3 years, and finished his studies at the Photography Institute, an online school in Vancouver, where he received his Diploma of Photography.
Alex got his start in both directing and cinematography. In 2019 he set out to make his first short film "Glitter Girl", where he only had a budget of $1000, 3 days to film, and a cast and crew of only 4 people. He took on the role of director, cinematographer and editor, and completed post production in only 1 month. After release, it later screened at the Crystalline Film Festival in 2021, where it won the People's Choice Award. Perri wrote and directed his next short film, "Beyond the Ranch", which was shot in only 2 days. Like his previous film, there was a budget of only $1000, and aside from the main actress Jenna Vittoria, the crew consisted of just one other person, his wife Kristen. The small sci-fi short went on to screen at the Durham Region International Film Festival, where it was nominated for Best Regional Film.
Alex has many other projects in the pipeline which he hopes to make a reality soon.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Alex Perri
