David Gilmour has shared a documentary detailing alleged antisemitism from his former Pink Floyd bandmate Roger Waters, adding another chapter to the decades-long feud between the musicians.
Gilmour retweeted a post about the documentary, entitled The Dark Side of Roger Waters, from the Campaign Against Antisemitism, which produced the report. In the video, BBC journalist John Ware interviews Norbert Statchel, Waters’ former saxophonist, and Bob Ezrin, the music producer who helped helm Pink Floyd’s The Wall. Both men, who are Jewish, recalled experiences in which Rogers said things that were antisemitic.
Statchel retold an instance in which Rogers imitated a stereotypically poor Polish woman as a reference to his Jewish ancestors, and another in which the bassist expressed outrage at a restaurant serving “Jew food.” Erzin recalled Waters describing Bryan Morrison, Pink Floyd’s manager at the time, as a “fucking Jew.” The report also unearths a 2010 email in...

Roger Waters has long been accused of antisemitism, in part because of his frequent condemnation of Israel and in part because he has a tendency to use … inflammatory stage design to get his politics across. A new investigation by the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA), however, quotes prominent Jewish musicians who claim to have experienced antisemitism from the former Pink Floyd bassist firsthand.
In a documentary entitled The Dark Side of Roger Waters, BBC journalist John Ware interviews Norbert Statchel, Waters’ former saxophonist, and Bob Ezrin, the music producer who helped helm Pink Floyd’s The Wall. Both men are Jewish. According to Statchel, after learning that the saxophonist was of Ashkenazi Jewish descent — with ancestors who were murdered in the Holocaust — Waters offered to “introduce” Statchel to his dead grandmother, then began an impression of a peasant Polish woman.
“Now you’ve met your grandmother! How do you feel now?...

The Monkees Mike Nesmith approached much of his life in a tongue-in-cheek manner. He realized that much of the his life in the entertainment business lent itself to promoting one image while, perhaps, feeling quite differently. Nesmith once said in an interview that he had a “wave and smile” approach to playing and writing music. He called the feeling similar to “flying in your dreams.”

As a songwriter and performer, Mike Nesmith generally used both his head and heart when making career decisions. This method generally worked well for the Texas native.
After leaving The Monkees in 1970, Nesmith pivoted to a genre he knew well: country music. However, the longstanding music category morphed into a genre all its own with the addition of pop melodies.

BBC Panorama has finally aired the results of its own internal probe into Martin Bashir’s infamous interview with Princess Diana.
Thursday night’s episode of the long-running investigative series, titled “Princess Diana, Martin Bashir and the BBC,” detailed the inside story of how Bashir obtained the candid sit-down, as well as the BBC’s response upon discovering that Bashir had shown falsified documents to Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer.
In the opening statement, Bashir was described as having “spun a web of elaborate lies” in order to secure an interview with the princess.
“We’ve pieced together the calculated deceit that Martin Bashir deployed to get his scoop,” said the program’s lead reporter John Ware.
During the program, Earl Spencer alleged again that the said documents, which supposedly revealed that two senior courtiers were being paid to provide information on Diana, played a large part in his decision...

In August 1972, 22-year-old Houston-born songwriter Rodney Crowell first arrived in Nashville, a passenger in fellow songwriter Donivan Cowart’s 1965 baby blue Chevy Impala. Much as it is today, the city was experiencing a major growth spurt. Urban renewal, an interstate highway system and the changing face of the Music City skyline were among the factors contributing to Nashville’s growing pains. Music Row, which housed the country-music industry’s record labels and publishing companies, was cashing in on the “Nashville Sound,” the country-meets-pop production style perfected by producers Owen Bradley and Chet Atkins.

We'll find it hard to defend the Falklands now we don't have an aircraft carrier, and we just can't resist showing ourselves in a bad light
✒As the Falkland islanders prepare to vote in their referendum, I met at a party a very, very senior military officer – someone you've certainly seen on television. I asked if it was true the Argentinians had no intention of trying to retake the islands by force, and he said he hoped not. But they could certainly cause havoc. All they needed to do, he said, was to land special forces on the islands and blow up the airfield. "Now that we have no aircraft carriers, there is absolutely no way we could send troops and materiel. We would be absolutely powerless." I have no doubt this thought has occurred to the Argies too.
✒There's been much sympathy for David and Samantha Cameron after it...
